JK Tyre & Industries CMDP Batch II – January 20 to 23, 2015

The II Batch of the JK Tyre & Industries CMDP was organized from January 20 to 23, 2015. The program was inaugurated by Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, Mysore, in the presence of Mr. Gowri Prakash, Manager – HR, JK Tyre & Industries, VTP Mysore. The program delivered over 4-days witnessed participation from 28 participants representing the Vikrant Tyre Plant (VTP) and Chennai Tyre Plant (CTP). 
This is the second in a series of programs designed for Identified High Performers (IHPs) of the company identified by the management, who are being trained across all the functions of management comprising of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Operations, Strategy, and Information Technology. Mr. Umesh K. Shenoy, Vice President – Works, JK Tyre & Industries, VTP Mysore was the Chief Guest for the valedictory session. The program was coordinated by Dr. Ullas Rao, Associate Professor – Finance, SDMIMD Mysore.

Ra-Ga Sisters Musical Melody

SDMIMD had organized a Carnatic vocal concert on January 19, 2015 at SDMIMD Auditorium. Ranjani and Gayathri known as Ra-Ga Sisters, kept the audience bound to their music from start to finish. The entire Carnatic musical program was filled with melody and was greatly appreciated by the large audience.The program was held under the aegis of Kalanubhav, a student cultural forum at the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) . Every year this student body conducts an event pertaining to music or arts to sensitize the students on Indian culture.

International Symposium 2015

Students of Texas A&M’s Mays Business School visited SDMIMD on January 12, 2015 as a part of International Student Exchange Program. The visit gave students of the partnering institute a platform to share the cultural insights and technological advances as well as to competing to prove their might. To understand the business scenario in India the student visitors were given a chance for Industry visit to visit Infosys, TVS and other companies in Mysore. 
Coinciding with the visit, the annual International Symposium was organized on Monday, January 12, 2015. The day long program was dotted with events that interspersed learning with fun. Keynote address by Mr. Robert Grobbauer, Vice Chairman AT&S started the day. Dr. Julian Gaspar, Clinical Professor of International Finance at Mays Business School spoke on the occasion. 
The International Symposium began with the welcome address by Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD. In his welcome message, Dr. Parasuraman emphasized on how effective it is for the countries across the globe to adapt to practices for globalization and free trade by studying specific aspects of the host countries’ environment.
The inaugural session was followed by the interactive session between students of SDMIMD and Mays Business School, Texas A & M University, USA. Business quiz and the brain teasers were the part of the interactive session. The post event was spent with cultural programs of Indian regional dance, and songs. The whole program was enjoyed and appreciated for the thoughtful way it was put together. 

SDMIMD listed in India’s Top B-Schools Ranking

SDMIMD was ranked as one among the Top 50 B-Schools in India. The B-School survey results released recently by key magazines which publish B-School survey every year - Career 360, Competition Success Review (CSR), Outlook and The Week have listed SDMIMD among the Top 50 B-Schools in India again. CSR has ranked SDMIMD in 3rd in top private B-schools in Karnataka, while The Week has listed SDMIMD as 9th among the top private B-Schools in South Zone. Business India has listed SDMIMD under A++ category. The AAA+ ranking for performance in academics and infrastructure by Career 360 has made SDMIMD come to 33rd place among top 100 B-Schools in the country. CSR has ranked SDMIMD 17th under the Top 25 Emerging B-Schools of Super Excellence.

Guest talk by Alumnus

E Cell Swayam of SDMIMD organized a guest talk with a view to strengthening Business Planning competence in SDMIMD students.  The talk was delivered by its Alumnus Mr. Harinath G on January 9, 2015, the topic was "Different ways of funding start up projects and pro and cons of the same and different debt options available for start-ups along with the expectations of lenders". 
 
Mr. Harinath G, has vast experience in Finance specializing in Debt Structuring for various Business Needs. He was  associated with Debt Syndication initiatives   of over Rs 250 Crores  and has handled more than 25 assignments across various sectors.

Campus Visit by Chairman

On January 7, 2015 Honorable Chairman of SDMIMD Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, visited the Institute. During the visit, Dr. Heggade chaired the Governing Council Meeting and visited the various sections of SDMIMD. 

Musical Concert by Ra - Ga Sisters

Kalanubhav - the SDMIMD student's cultural body formed with the objective of propagating all forms of Indian arts, is organizing Carnatic musical concert this year. The Ranjani Gayatri Sisters popularly known as 'Ra-Ga Sisters' has kindly consented to perform on January 19, 2015 at 4:00 PM in institute amphitheater. The event is open for public.
 

Annual Leadership Series (ALS) Talk 2015

​SDMIMD will be holding the Annual Leadership Talk 2015 on February 14, 2015. This annual event is an opportunity for the SDMites and Mysoreans to hear successful corporate leaders first hand. This year Dr. Santrupt Misra, CEO, Carbon Black Business and Director, Group Human Resources of the Aditya Birla Group, will be delivering the "Annual Leadership Talk 2015" at the Institute auditorium.
