Webinar on Marketing by Alumnus

Ms. Ranjani Madhavan, Marketing Excellence Leader, 3M, Switzerland and alumna of the institute addressed the marketing students of the institute through Skype on July 20, 2016.

After illustrating the value creation from marketing with help of some international cases, Ms. Ranjani helped the participants understand the different job profiles related to marketing domain. She also shared many tips with the students regarding how to prepare for a marketing career.

Seminar on Stress Management Technology

The seminar on ‘Stress Management Technology’ was organized in association with Vijay Foundation Mysuru, on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in SDMIMD Auditorium.

International Memory Trainer Dr. B.K. Chandrashekhar, popularly known as 'Invisible Doctor'; Sage and Scientist Dr. Krishna Madappa known as Modern Day Alchemist; Dr. B.R. Pai the Founder & Chairman of Vijay Group of Companies; delivered the talk on the seminar theme.

General public and invites participated in the interactive session with the speaker followed by the talks.

Khoj 2016

Khoj - the talent search festival of SDMites is a platform to for the new batch of PGDM to showcase their aptitude. Kohj 2016 was organized on July 18, 2016 to identify talent among the freshers through various competitions and to formally welcome them to student committees of the Institute. The show by the new PGDM batch 2016-18 was laced with impromptu speeches, colourful dances, humourous skits, classical songs and fancy dress shows.

Interactive Session on 'IT Industries in Mysuru'

SDMIMD and CII’s youth wing Young Indians jointly organized an interactive session on 'IT industries & infrastructure in Mysuru - a cohesive move' on July 15, 2016 at our campus.

Mr. Sid Mookerji, Global CEO and Co-founder, Software Paradigms International (SPI), Mr. Bhaskar Kalale, Convenor - IT Panel, CII Mysuru, Mr. N. Muthukumar, Chairman, CII Mysuru and Dr. H Gayathri, Deputy Director of SDMIMD were the panel members. The discussions centred around the infrastructural facilities in Mysore and ways of improving things.

The audience consisted of representatives from CII, the youth wing, faculty and students of SDMIMD and a cross section of the public.

Session by Toastmasters International

On Saturday July 2, 2016, the first year students attended a program on Toastmasters International. The session was meant to create awareness for Toastmasters International and explain how it can help to improve their communication and leadership skills.

Toastmaster Rohit Koka, President of Mysore City Toastmasters addressed the students and told them how effective communication can provide a competitive edge in their career. Toastmaster Yashaswi from L & T Mysore, the Area Director, explained about the functioning of a Toastmasters club and its many benefits.

Toastmaster Arjun P. S., the President of the SDMIMD Toastmasters club informed the students about the club and its activities and provided information on to become a Toastmaster. Toastmaster Poovendhiran, the past Area Director from SPI was present. The program was compered by Toastmaster Abhijith of the SDMIMD Toastmasters club.

Paris Conference 2016

The Third European Academic Research Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Banking was organized at Paris, France during July 1-3, 2016 jointly by SDMIMD, Mysore and J.A. Alpha Business Research & Publishers. The theme of the conference ‘Tackling and Avoiding Recessio - Navigating the Future’ attracted academic and corporate nominations across the globe.

Prof. Paul GARDINER, Professor of Project Management, SKEMA Business School, France, inaugurated the conference at Mercure Paris Porte de Versailles Expo Hotel, Paris, France and delivered the keynote address.

Alumni meet of Bengaluru Chapter

The initiative of SDMites in Bengaluru made the day memorable with the inauguration of Alumni-Bengaluru Chapter of SDMIMD Alumni Association. Inaugurating the chapter the chief guest Mr. Yashavant Ananthraj shared insights about what not to do while undertaking the journey of building an organisation. Specific mention was made about the three layers of functions, viz., Strategy level at the top, the Systems and Processes at the middle and Operations or Execution at the lower level.

The event started with invocation by Ms. Mallika of first batch (1994-96) of PGDM Program and the welcome address by Mr. Rakshit from the same batch. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of the Institute addressed the gathering and gave a cursory overview about the recent development at SDMIMD. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director and Chairperson of Alumni Committee highlighted the need of alumni collaboration and strengthening of alumni association at local level.

Mr. Harinath and Mr. Arun Padaki from PGDM 1995-97 proposed the agenda and activities of Alumni-Bengaluru Chapter.

The vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Vijay Kumar of PGDM 1999-2000. The Master of Ceremony Ms. Susheema from first batch of PGDM program recalled the memories at SDMIMD while anchoring the event.

Workshop on Competitive Intelligence

Competitive Intelligence Workshop by Dr. T. Kanti Srikantaiah, Visiting Professor, Maryland's iSchool of US, conducted on June 30 & July 1, 2016 at SDMIMD was a knowledge enriching and inspiring session for the students. It not only gave insights on the competitive intelligence basics viz. related terminologies, models, tools, but also the role of CI in organizations and its significance in today's dynamically changing, competitive business world.

The seminar became more interesting as well as challenging with the help of hands on assignments and case studies' discussions,where students have applied conceptual frameworks and used various tools to analyze given scenario. Altogether it was a highly interactive,practice-oriented and knowledge gaining session.
