The Eighteenth Annual Convocation of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) was marked with happy smiles and a festive outlook in the Institute campus on Friday, March 22, 2013.

"Life is similar to a Marathon race, not a sprint.  Hence, today's budding managers should find way through their soft skills, patience, persistence and tenacity". In his convocation address the Chief Guest Mr. B. Muthuraman, Vice Chairman, Tata Steel & Chairman, Tata International, asked the passing out graduates not to look at the gross turnover of the companies to assess their strengths. Instead, they should look at what companies are returning to the society. It is the society which is the true owner and not the management or investors or other stake holders. Every business that we do is a part of the society. So, it is important for the future managers to work on the lines of leaving a legacy. There is a serious problem of "Equality" in India. It is not Equality of outcomes but Equality of opportunities. Merit is also governed by social circumstances which call for affirmative action.

Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman of the Institute complimented the students for their excellent performance and urged them to be corporate leaders with an emphasis on values and principles. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, welcomed and presented the annual report the Institute. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, presented the vote of thanks.

News Clips : Deccan Herald  |  Indian Express

Mysore Jan 28th: "Rise in Love for a cause and you will be the leader" thus said Mr. Anil Sachdev, while addressing a large gathering comprising Management Students, Academicians, Industrialists and other Professionals at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute Management Development Mysore. Mr Anil Sachdev Founder and CEO, Grow Talent Company Limited and School of Inspired Leadership (SOIL) Gurgaon Haryana, was the invited speaker  on the occasion of Institute's annual leadership series (ALS 2013). Adding to his highly inspirational talk, he said that the today's youth are intelligent and ethical.

We elders look at them as "useless". In fact, youth are "used less". Youth's flair to "facebook"  does not mean that they are not concerned with the societal issues. Elders of today should throw light on the past Gurukul system of education which prevailed in ancient India and how the same has been  distorted by Macaulay's education system. He said that youth should know their immense potential and also know the difference between pleasure and joy. It is always "pleasure" to receive benefits for ourselves, but it is the "joy" that brings you happiness when you are concerned about others. By transforming pleasure to joy, one can become leader. Getting on to spirituality, he said know who you are and the purpose of your existence. Know the people around you and then ask yourself a question - do you love them? Quoting aphorisms form Patanjali's Yoga sutra he said, strange things can happen to you once you start understanding your inner powers. Adding values to his inspirational talk he called upon youth to be prepared for the Fire walk and learn to overcome four types of fear - fear of failure, fear of criticism, fear of ambiguity and fear of lack of time and resources.
Earlier, Dr. Neetu Ganapathy, Chairperson-PGDM of the Institute welcomed the guest. Dr N.R. Parasuraman and his faculty colleagues were present.
