2-Day Workshop for Institutional Heads

 
SDMIMD joined hands with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Southern Regionin organizing the workshop for institutional heads and chairpersons on the theme 'Restructuring and Redesigning of Higher Education Programs in India' during January 24 & 25, 2018 at SDMIMD Mysore. 
 
The Workshop was intended to address the industry needs in terms of Knowledge, Skills and Aptitude being developed among the B School students through inputs in the MBA/PGDM curriculum and to discuss the challenges faced in the form of changing business environment, demographic changes in the environment, the issue of 'dynamic business  vs static education'. The inaugural Welcome Addess was delivered by Mr Arjun Ranga, MD, N Ranga Rao and Sons and Chairman of CII Mysore Chapter. The Keynote Address was delivered by Prof Joe Philip, Chairman- XIME Group of Institutions and the Special Address was delivered by Prof Prasad SN, SDMIMD.  The sessions were chaired by Dr S Balasubramaniam, Director GRG Group of Institutions, Coimbatore. Several eminent educationists and corporate heads conducted the technical sessions.
 
The program was attended by 62 delegates from various colleges and universities across South India. 

Talk by TedEx Speaker

SDMIMD in collaboration with CII’s Young Indian’s (Mysore Chapter) organized talk by Mr. Hitesh Ramchandani, a Para Olympian, Author and TedEx speaker on January 19, 2018 at SDMIMD Auditorium. 
 
Mr. Hitesh Ramchandani, a Global Icon, Author, Paralympian and a TEDx speaker, unfortunately born with Cerebral Palsy, addressed the students on living a better life by having a positive attitude, altering one’s habits, achieving goals and dreaming beyond. The talk was his experience on how to lead a “Better than Normal" life. (Speaker Webpage: http://www.betterthannormal.life/)
 
The event was attended by 250+ students from various colleges signed with Young Indians YUVA. The session also had achievers from Mysore who are excelling in different fields. Mr Utsav Agarwal founder Yi Mysore and director of Bhoruka Fabcons shared his experience on being ‘Champions of Change’ conducted by our PM Narendra Modi. Mr Abhijith Ravindra, founder of RE3 command fitness spoke to students about fitness and its importance in one's life. Ekalavya Awardee Shri Vijayan Gurukkal was honoured and later his team performed Kalaripayyattu the ancient master of martial arts.  

MINT and MBA Universe lists SDMIMD among Top 50 B-Schools

SDMIMD has been ranked 41st in the MBA Universe B-School Survey 2018. The survey conducted jointly by MINT & MBA Universe.com, ranked the Best MBA colleges and PGDM B-schools in India on objective and transparent parameters. The academic rigour and the quality of student intake with the infrastructure facilities have made SDMIMD ranked among the Top 50 B-Schools in the survey.
 
Commenting on the MBA Universe Survey 2018 ranking, SDMIMD Director Dr. N.R. Parasuraman said “I am happy to see that our Institute has retained its position among the Top 50 B-Schools in the country this year too. Well, with the quality of our faculty, staff and students, and the state-of-the-art infrastructure, we certainly deserve to be among the best.” He believes that SDMIMD has immense potential to excel and improve the ranking in future.

Naissance 2018

The students of SDMIMD organized the flagship student event of the institute Naissance 2018 edition - a National Level Management Fest during January 12 and 13, 2018. The event was designed under the theme “Heroes We Need”. Naissance’18 challenged the management students from across the country on various fields of management through 9 events, namely, The Best Manager, Finance, Marketing, HR, Debate, Quiz, Systems, Business Plan and Photography challenge. 
 
The event which was a host to around 170 participants from different B-Schools across the country was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Krishnan, Manager of Vijaya Bank. 
 
Dr. N.R Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD delivered the welcome address and Deputy Director Dr. H. Gayathri spoke about the importance of such fest in a B-School scenario. Mr Krishnan shared his thoughts on the occasion.
 
The two day event was sponsored by Vijaya Bank, System needs, The Journey, Travel Next, Vasavamba Condiments, Sha's and Aaharas' and Merako Media
 
The valedictory function was scheduled on January 13, 2018. Mr. Nikhil Furtado of Merako Media was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory function. The participants, alumni and the students of SDMIMD joined for the prize distribution ceremony.
 
Mr. Kasi Vishwanathan from Jansons school of Business, Coimbatore was recognized as the “Best Manager” in Naissance 2018. Christ University, Main Campus was identified as the Overall Champions for bagging the maximum number of points in the event

International Symposium 2018

 
An International Symposium was held on January 8, 2018 at SDMIMD, Mysuru. The symposium was mainly directed at the students from Texas A & M’s Mays Business School, with whom SDMIMD has an exchange program. Dr. Julian Gaspar, Clinical professor, Texas A&M University and Dr. Pradeep Rau, Professor-Marketing, George Washington University graced the occasion.
 
The program began with Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, welcoming the gathering.  Dr Neetu Ganapathy, Associate professor, SDMIMD provided an overview of the programme. Dr. Gaspar made the opening remarks and spoke about globalisation and its effects. 
 
Dr. Rau, who delivered the keynote address, opined about the challenges in the field of education. He spoke about the evolution of graduate management education and the diverging trends in global management education across the world. He compared management education in the U.S to that in India. He also elucidated the role executive education plays in the development of professionals and mentioned about the changing trends with respect to executive programs. 
 
Later, the students from Texas A&M university interacted with the students from SDMIMD. Team building and knowledge sharing sessions were facilitated to help them to get to know each other better. Post-lunch, a cultural extravaganza was organised by Team Kalanubhav of SDMIMD. This event showcased the culture of India. The students from Texas also participated during the cultural programme. In the evening, the exchange students visited SKDRDP, Mysuru and learnt about its activities.

SDMIMD listed in India’s Top B-Schools Ranking

SDMIMD has secured its position as one among the Top 50 B-Schools in India. The B-School survey results released recently by key magazines which publishes B-School survey every year - Business Today, Career 360, Competition Success Review (CSR), Outlook and The Week has listed SDMIMD among the Top 50 B-Schools in India again. 
 
CSR has ranked SDMIMD in 3rd in top private B-schools in Karnataka, while The Week has listed 9th among the top private B-School in South Zone. The AAA+ ranking for performance in academics and infrastructure by Career 360 has made SDMIMD to be listed in 33rd place among top 100 B-Schools in the country. CSR has listed SDMIMD in 17th under the Top 25 Emerging B-Schools of Super Excellence. 

Box Cricket Tournament – CS&MS Cup

As part of our sports management course, the Sports Elective students of PGDM Program conducted ‘Box Cricket Tournament’ first of its kind in Mysore, on January 12 & 13, 2018 at SDMIMD. The “CS&MS Cup – Box Cricket Tournament” was inaugurated by Shri M.J. Charan, Former Director, National Tennis Academy, New Delhi; and Visiting Faculty, Sports Management Program. The event was as platform to implement the knowledge and expertise gained through the sports management course. 
 
The team from Sapient College of Commerce and Management, Mysore, emerged as winners with cash prize of Rs. 15,000 and CS&MS Cup. The team from ATME College of Engineering were the runners up with cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and certificates. The event attracted more than 500 footfalls during the tournament days. 
 
SDMIMD Deputy Director and Program Director of Sports Management Program Dr H. Gayathri and Dr. Srilakshminarayana. G., Assistant Professor, graced the inaugural ceremony.

Visitors from University of Nottingham

Ms. Sugunamalar Vijayaratnam, Programme Director, Foundation in Business & Management, International Summer School, and Ms. Anushia, Business representative, University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus, visited SDMIMD on 6 January 2018. They interacted with the students to explore the possibility of students visit for short-term exchange and summer schools being organized in their Malaysia campus. They have expressed their interest in having a tie-up with the Institute for such programs.
