ACBSP Region 10 Conference

SDMIMD was given the privilege of hosting the Region 10 annual conference of ACBSP on November 15th & 16th 2017 at the Institute campus.  Mr. Jeffrey Alderman, President / CEO, ACBSP, USA. Dr. Steve Parscale, Chief Accreditation Officer, ACBSP, USA graced the occasion with their presence. There were a number of delegates from various countries representing Region 10. Dr. Rajesh Khajuria Chair of Regiona 10, Dr. R.Nandagopal and Prof. Pramod Thevannoor, senior spreads in Region 10 were present. The full report is shown in the link below.

International HR Conference focus on Macro Talent Management

 
Macro Talent Management (MTM) was among the prominent themes discussed during the 6th International Conference on “Managing Human Resources at the workplace” on December 8 & 9, 2017 held at SDMIMD. 
 
Dr Ashly Pinnington Dean-Research British University in Dubai who delivered the  keynote address for the conference said ‘Macro Talent Management (MTM) involves intervention of expertise from Government and HR Professionals from Global arena, with a view to strengthen Talent.  MTM is a paradigm shift from Traditional Talent Management where the latter is restricted to Organizational level only.  MTM, also offers wide opportunities for Research activities.’ 
 
The Conference witnessed high quality deliberations and the several among the 150 odd papers presented covered diverse topics on the practical side of HR.  The papers were from countries, such as Poland, Kuwait, Bahrain, Nigeria, Indonesia, and India.

Ltd, Bengaluru; Dr. Joanna Kubicka, Professor, University of Business in Wroclaw, Poland, participated in the panels.
 
On the second day, Dr. Guru Prasad, Former VP and Global Head – L &D, TCS BPO, Bengaluru; and, Mr. Praveen Kamath, General Manager & HR Head - Technology Practice Units at Wipro Limited delivered the invited talk. 
 
Mr. Prasad Iyengar, Program Director-Talent Acquisition, Mindtree Ltd., Bengaluru, delivered the valedictory address held on December 9, 2017. 

3rd International Economics Conference

 
SDMIMD organised two-day International Conference on “Economic Growth and Sustainable Development: Emerging Trends” on November 10-11, 2017 at SDMIMD campus. Sri.S. Chandrasekhar, Managing Director, Bhoruka Power Corporation Limited inaugurated the conference. In his keynote address, Mr.Chandrasekhar raised concerns overs poor productivity, jobless growth and rising unhedged loans which impede economic growth in India. He believes that sustainable development could be achieved only through sustainable energy. Energy security has been considered as lynchpin of sustained economic growth. Dr.N.R.Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD emphasised on the urgent need for intensive research in the field of risk management to sustain the growth of corporate firms.        
 
Dr.Doug Gilbert, Staff Faculty, School of Business, University of Phoenix, USA, Dr.Anand Srinivasan, Associate Professor-Finance, National University of Singapore, Singapore and Sri.K.P.Aggarwal, Business Head- HDFC Ltd. were the prominent Distinguished Speakers deliberated upon the various dimensions of growth and sustainability. Prof.K.K.Ramesh, Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode delivered valedictory address on November 11, 2017.
 
During the course of two days, 198 selected academic research papers were presented and deliberated. The conference had more than 250 delegates participating from several countries including USA, Singapore, Mauritius, Iran, Nigeria, Yemen, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Egypt. 
 
The conference was coordinated by Dr.B.Venkatraja, Assistant Professor-Economics at SDMIMD.

Rao, Managing Director, Kennametal India Ltd, Bangalore, during the keynote delivered at the 2-Day International Marketing Conference organized by SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), on October 26-27, 2017.
 
The two day conference provided platform for the industry experts, marketing practitioners and academia to share their knowledge and experiences of marketing in the digital milieu. 
 
Mr. Venguswamy Ramaswamy, Global Head, iON, Tata Consultancy Services and Mr. N. Ravi Shankar, CEO, Aim High Consulting; will be delivering invited talks during the conference. Research papers, concept notes and case studies will be presented by the participants from across India, during the technical sessions of the conference.
 
Valedictory chief guest Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Trichy, stressed on how technology is changing and its impact on businesses. Dr. Metri also provided insights about global restructuring, how nations are reshaping itself due to the changing socio and economic conditions.
 
Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of the institute; Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director; and Prof. Jayakrishnan, Conference Chair; Dr. R. Sugant, Professor – Marketing and Chairman; and faculty members graced the occasion.

‘Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has a pivotal role in operational and strategy formulation, the position demonstrate important part in the leadership structure across the globe’ thus said Mr. Viju Parameshwar, Former President & CEO, Kluber Lubrication India Private Ltd., in this keynote address on the topic “Role of CFO in a Manufacturing Company” during the inaugural session the 6th International Conference on Emerging Trends in Finance, Accounting and Banking on August 18, 2017.

Mr. Kesavan Venugopalan, Group CFO, Narayana Health, distinguished speaker for the inaugural session delivered talk on the topic “Finance – A Long Haul”. Mr. Kesavan highlighted as to how Finance as a function has gone through a rigorous change in the backdrop of changing economic scenario of the country. The speaker also highlighted the opportunities and challenges in the Health Care Industry and the role of finance and strategy in successfully managing a health care hospital.

Earlier, Dr. N.R. Parsauraman, Director, SDMIMD, delivered the welcome address and Dr. M. Sriram, Conference Chair, presented the theme of the conference “Emerging Trends in Finance, Accounting and Banking”.

The Chief Guest for the valedictory function Dr. Prasanna Chandra, Director of Centre for Financial Management, in his address introduced to the World of Finance through the lens of neuroscience, a perspective rarely encountered in the field of finance. Dr. Chandra made it interesting by throwing in anecdotes, quotes, poems and funny headings. His ability to relate cognitive and neural process was well received by the audience. Dr. Sriram, Conference Chair proposed the Vote of Thanks. 

Singapore Conference

Thirteenth Asia-Pacific Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Banking was organised by Global Business Research, Dubai in association with SDM IMD, Mysore on August 4-5, 2017 at Singapore. Prof. A. Seetharaman, Dean-Academic Affairs, S.P. Jain School of Global Management, Singapore Campus inaugurated the conference and delivered keynote address. In his talk, Prof. Seetharaman focussed on demystifying the practical utility and efficiency of Keynes’ theoretical framework on GDP identity. The conference was attended by the delegates from countries including China, United Kingdom, Srilanka, Taiwan, Turkey, India, Kenya and South Africa. Dr. Elango Rengasamy, the Conference Director delivered the introductory talk and welcomed delegates to the conference. Dr. B. Venkatraja, Faculty – SDM IMD, Mysore proposed the vote of thanks. The two- day conference was packed with events like technical sessions, panel discussion, interactive session and paper presentation sessions. 

Italy Conference

The International Conference on Management & Behavioural Sciences (IC17Italy Conference), was organized at Rome, Italy, 1-3 July 2017 jointly by SDMIMD, Mysore and Global Business Research. The theme of the conference ‘Getting the Right People on the Job’ attracted academic and corporate nominations across the globe. 
 
Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta, SDMIMD, Mysuru, has delivered the special felicitation address on “Choosing the Right People on the Job”. Dr. Mousumi, SDMIMD, Mysuru, was the expert in the Panel discussion on “Innovative Instructional Strategies - Emerging trends!” Both the faculty members also presented a joint paper on “Managing stress at workplace: A study on nurses in private hospitals in Mysore and Bangalore”.
