Guest Lecture by Mr. Vinu Sekhar

“We will be a globally respected Corporation”, said Mr Vinu Sekhar, the HR Location Head for Mysore Development Center, Head of the HR function at the Global Education Center (GEC) and HR Head for Engineering Unit at Infosys, while addressing students of SDMIMD  on 11 February 2014.  The talk focussed on the topic, “Values at Infosys” and was a delightful learning experience taking the students through the concept of value, success in business and how ethics plays an integral role in business. He defined business as “Creation of wealth, ethically and sustainably”.  He took the audience through the principles of C-LIFE.  By creating “Client Value” (C), through “Leadership by example” (L), “Integrity and appropriate transparency” (I), “Fairness” (F) and achieving “Excellence”. 
 
Prof Govinda Sharma had invited Vinu Sekhar as a part of the course, “Ethics and Values in Management”.

Guest Lecture by Mr. Sakeer Hassan

With the 2013-14 placement season in progress, the students of second year PGDM were provided with an opportunity to know what the interviewers would be looking at and this came straight from the horse’s mouth. Talking on the topic “Preparing to face the Job Interview – What do Interviewers Expect?”,  Mr. Sakeer Hassan, Head – Business Development of SPI, Mysore gave the students the most necessary tips on what to expect in an interview and how to prepare and present their resumes. This also provided the students with an opportunity to interact with Mr. Sakeer who has been in the forefront of recruiting activities of SPI, Mysore.

Interaction with Ms. Lekshmi Bhargavi

Our world is built on ideas. Ms. Lekshmi Bhargavi, HR at Toyota Financial Services, an alumnus of SDMIMD, thus started her speech while she addressed the first year PGDM batch here on 16th November, 2013. Ms. Lekshmi gave an insight into how a case study should be analyzed and how to form the solutions, how to make presentations and the importance of self-branding. More emphasis was laid on the integrity to be followed at the workplace.

Talk on Mortgage Backed Securities

Ms. Anjali Mullatti, CEO & M.D, Finitiatives Learning India Pvt. Ltd held a special program on Mortgage Backed Securities for second year PGDM (System specialization) students at SDMIMD. This half-day programme held on 27th October turned out to be an enriching experience for students who got helpful insights on the subject from a renowned name in the field.Ms. Mullatti, an IIM Lucknow Alumnus has worked with top businesses like Blow Plast, Bank of America and Cognizant Technology Solutions over the years. She also co-founded Finitiatives Learning India Pvt (FLIP) Ltd that offers India’s largest range of e-learning and certifications in Banking & Finance.Needless to say there was a lot of excitement and anticipation amongst students about the programme, and they weren’t to be disappointed. During the programme Ms. Mullatti talked about several concepts like collateralized mortgage obligations, collateralized debt obligations, subprime mortgage crisis, residential mortgage-backed security and commercial mortgage-backed security. And she had her audience in rapt attention throughout.

Guest lecture by Mr. Chandra Prakash

Mr. Chandra Prakash, President, Mysore Grahakara Parishat, was the invited speaker at SDMIMD on 17th October 2013. Addressing the students, he spoke elaborately on nuances of Urban Development. He stressed upon preserving character while providing growth, de congesting Central business and bringing back Boulevard  culture.  Do's and Dont's in City Planning and Mysore Master Plan 2031 were also part of his talk. He urged student community to visit  MGP's facebook page "Save Mysore" and respond to the same.

Guest talk by Ms. Annapurna

"How to improve networking at college level?" was the topic of the guest talk organized on October 12, 2013 at SDMIMD auditorium. The invited speaker Ms. Annapurna, HR Head, Esilor India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, introduced different methods of creating and maintaining the data repository of contacts. Ms. Annapurna introduced different facets of networking including interpersonal relationship and refining of data. The introduction of SWOT Analysis of Self involving the student audience was quite interesting. The discussion on importance of research for professional growth was interactive. The speaker gave tips for analyzing the company performance, which certainly help in facing the interviews.  

Guest lecture by Mr. Hari

Mr. Hari, Amba Research, delivered a talk on "Lessons from the Real World of Corporate Life" on October 12, 2013 at the SDMIMD Auditorium.

Guest talk by Mr. Ravishankar

"Don't go for the lower hanging fruit that might not be the sweetest. Don't choose your career based on the first salary", thus opined Mr. Ravishankar SDMIMD Alumnus of PGDM 1997-1999. Mr. Ravishankar, CEO, Aim High India, Bangalore recalled his student days at SDMIMD and narrated the success story of AIM High. He shared the advice given by one of the faculty member "Never chase money, chase success and money will follow" which motived him to achieve success. He concluded with the saying "success means doing the best in whatever field you are working". The interaction session with the students was well taken.
