Naissance - The Annual Management Fest

SDMIMD, Mysuru inaugurated its flagship B-School Management Fest ‘Naissance 2020 – Battle of the Zodiac Signs’, with Mr. Ryshyanth, Superintendent of Police (SP), Mysore District and Mr. H. S. Nagesh, Vijaya Bank, Mysore as distinguished Chief Guests. 
 
Mr. Ryshyanth, SP Mysore District, began his speech by stating that competition such as Naissance would bring the best talent out of students. He opined that the gap between education and company’s expectations are being bridged by educational institutes such as SDMIMD. He encouraged the students to think differently, be competitive and work hard. He also urged the students to keep in mind what is relevant currently. He concluded his speech by urging the students to understand the advantages that India has and how this can be projected to create a brand image for India.
 
Mr. H. S Nagesh from Vijaya bank congratulated the students of the institute and conveyed his best wishes to more than 150 participating young student managers representing B Schools from Karnataka and neighbouring states.
 
Earlier, Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director of SDMIMD, welcomed the gathering and shared her views and thoughts about Naissance 2020 and its theme.  Student coordinator Ms. Sristi Roy Chowdhury gave a brief about the theme of ‘Naissance 2020 – Battle of the Zodiac Signs’, which revolved around the management lessons and principles to be derived from Signs of Zodiac which battle to prove their mettle.    
 
The two-day national level B-School fest witnessed the intellectual battle and supremacy between the brightest minds of premier B-schools of India. The students from Christ University, Bangalore emerged as Winners of Naissance 2020 by their outstanding performance in various events- Aquarius (Toastmaster Event), Libra (Entrepreneurship Skills Event), Gemini (HR Event), Capricorn: (Systems/IT Event), Scorpion (Marketing Marketing) organized as a part of the Management Fest.

64th Kannada Rajyotsava Celebration

The 64th Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore, on November 26, 2019. The Rajyotsava started with a festive mode decorating the campus with flag, buntings, Chappara and flowers. The event started with the hoisting of the Kannada flag of 40 feet and singing Kannada Naadageete ‘Jaya Bharata Jananiya tanujaate’. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director and Chairperson – Academics addressed the students and wished them. The campus had turned into Mini Karnataka with everyone wearing the Stole (Valli) of yellow and red combination resembling Kannada Flag.
 
Students, Faculty members and Staff paid respect to Goddess Kannada Matha by performing arathi which was followed by a special lunch with unique dishes of Karnataka prepared, planned and served by the students to the faculty and staff members of the institute. In the evening, sports and cultural programs were organized. Traditional local games of Karnataka were introduced to other state students. Students from other states and few staff members sang Kannada songs and danced to the tunes. Kabaddi match played between the staff and students’ teams and the ‘Folk dance’ performance were the highlights of the celebrations.

Blood Donation Camp 2019

"The blood you donate gives someone another chance at life" thus said Mr C.V. Sridhar, Manager Administration, SDMIMD, inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp 2019 on Friday, November 8, 2019. In his address said 'SDMites are always seen coming forward with great enthusiasm, to address social issues whenever situations call for the same'. The event was a reinforcement of the principles for which SDMIMD stands and the social responsibility attitude demonstrated by the students. The camp was organized by SDMIMD in collaboration with HDFC Bank with the medical support from Jeevadhara Blood Bank, a unit of Cauvery Social Services Trust, Mysore. Faculty, Staff members and students participated in the camp. 

Abhigyaan 2019

SDMIMD organised the annual flagship event for Undergraduates - Abhigyaan ’19, on October 10 & 11, 2019 at its campus. The two-day fest was inaugurated by Dr N. R Parasuraman, the Director of SDMIMD.  More than 400 students from colleges across Karnataka participated in various events such as Best Manager, Best Entrepreneur, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, B-Quiz, Photography, Mad Ads, Treasure Hunt and Street Play. The sports event was introduced in this year’s fest and a cricket match was organized. The inaugural day culminated with vibrant cultural competitions such as Singing, Dancing and Fashion Show. 
 
The Day-2 of Abhigyaan 2019 commenced with the final rounds of the management events. Abhigyaan was a wonderful platform for the students to showcase their managerial skills and talents. SDM College of Business Management, Mangalore emerged as the overall champions of Abhigyaan’ 2019. The event was organized and coordinated by the Samprati Committee of SDMIMD.

Dasara Celebration by SDMites

Being part of the Heritage City Mysuru, SDMites celebrated Mysuru Dasara with grand decoration, pooja of Goddess Saraswathi and Goddess Durga, games and delicious lunch. SDMites decorated the entire campus which gave festive look during Dasara. The delicious lunch with Mysuru and Bengal dishes added sweet to the festivity. Various traditional games and music made Dasara 2019 a memorable for SDMites. 

Celebration of Gandhi Jayanti by SDMites LIFE

The SDMites Library Initiative for Education (LIFE) team organized drawing competition and essay competition to the young minds of Aadarsha Vidyalaya School in Jockey Quarters Mysore. The competition was organized focusing the 150th Year Birthday Celebration of ‘Father of Nation’ Mahatma Gandhiji. The high school students participated in the event to demonstrate their skills and creativity on the theme of the competition. SDMites provided the materials for the competition and gave sweets to the students and distributed the prizes to the winners. 

OBT Activity for SDMites

The 2nd year PGDM 2018-20 students of SDMIMD, specializing in the HR discipline took an active part in the Out Bound Training (OBT) organized by the Institute at LEAD Out Bound Training, Kerala. The students of HR Elective participated in OBT as a part of the course Workplace Learning and Development anchored by Prof. L. Gandhi. The main objectives of the Out Bound Learning were to provide a recreation to the students while also enabling them to develop their confidence, conquer fears, an ability to take calculated risks, to hone their team building skills, for gaining knowledge and enhancing practical wisdom by challenging their limits, which is crucial for them to become successful managers. The two-day trip provided a bouquet of adventure activities such as trekking, jumaring, river crossing, rappelling, rope-based adventures, fire walking, and other management games. The students had an enriching learning experience through these OBT activities.

LIFE Celebrated Independence Day at School

The SDMites initiative - Library Initiative For Education (LIFE) which established the Library for Aadharsha Vidyalaya School of Jockey Quarters, Mysore, celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with the children and teachers. Prof. Kannadas, Faculty - Finance, SDMIMD, was the Chief Guest and honoured students who completed 10th Class with Distinction during last year. SDMites were part of cultural celebration and distributed sweets to the children.
