Decision making using the data is seen as one of the important aspects in today’s research. A researcher who wishes to propose new results through research, looks for a scientific method that enables him to check whether his hypotheses are true or false. Statistical inference is one such branch of statistics which has got pool of methods that can be used to draw appropriate inferences regarding the hypotheses framed. One problem that a researcher faces is to select an appropriate method based on the objectives, from the pool of method available. He needs to know the assumptions associated with each method and also should know how to check the assumptions associated, using appropriate testing methods. It needs a formal training and guidance for the same. Taking this need as a motivation, an MDP has been designed for the researchers titled “Inferential statistics in research” at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), on June 4th, 2016. |
