SDMIMD Celebrates 18th Annual Convocation

The Eighteenth Annual Convocation of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) was marked with happy smiles and a festive outlook in the Institute campus on Friday, March 22, 2013.
"Life is similar to a Marathon race, not a sprint. Hence, today's budding managers should find way through their soft skills, patience, persistence and tenacity". In his convocation address the Chief Guest Mr. B. Muthuraman, Vice Chairman, Tata Steel & Chairman, Tata International, asked the passing out graduates not to look at the gross turnover of the companies to assess their strengths. Instead, they should look at what companies are returning to the society. It is the society which is the true owner and not the management or investors or other stake holders. Every business that we do is a part of the society. So, it is important for the future managers to work on the lines of leaving a legacy. There is a serious problem of "Equality" in India. It is not Equality of outcomes but Equality of opportunities. Merit is also governed by social circumstances which call for affirmative action. Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman of the Institute complimented the students for their excellent performance and urged them to be corporate leaders with an emphasis on values and principles. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, welcomed and presented the annual report the Institute. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, presented the vote of thanks. |
