Visit of Heilbronn University team, Germany

As part of the exchange arrangement that SDMIMD has with Heilbronn University, Germany, a group of 15 students and 2 faculty spent a whole week in early March, in Mysore. The delegation was headed by Stefan Wilms, Dean of the University.

The week-long program was scheduled from March 1 to 7, 2019. The program was packed with industry visits, socially relevant projects, academic sessions and the visit to heritage sites. The students had a chance to learn about exploring the business opportunities in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Side by side, they were exposed to social projects. Teaming with SDMIMD students, the overseas students were divided into groups and made to study specific projects, in respect of which a final report will be presented by them.

The visit also had a couple of corporate visits and interaction.

International Symposium 2019

On January 7, 2019, SDMIMD organized an International Symposium for the faculty and students from the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. The symposium inaugural talk was delivered by Dr. Julian Gaspar, Clinical Professor and the Head of the Centre for International Business Studies at the Texas A & M University as the distinguished Chief Guest. In his opening remarks, Dr. Julian Gaspar expressed his views on the changing face of international business which is an aftermath of Brexit and the political risks which potentially every nation has been facing.  

The program commenced with Dr. Neetu Ganapathy, Associate Professor, SDMIMD, Mysuru, providing an overview of the program. Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, Director SDMIMD, Mysuru delivered the welcome address and spoke about the changes around the world which are impacting international business. 

The second session saw the knowledge of students from Mays Business School being put to test with a business quiz. This was followed by a series of games aimed at team building. In the afternoon session, Kalanubhav, the cultural wing of SDMIMD, showcased the best of Indian culture to the visiting team. The students of Texas University also used this platform to exhibit their talent. The program concluded with a ceremony to felicitate the visitors.

Dr. Sugant on FEP to University of Montevideo

Dr Sugant had delivered a course on “Doing Business in Emerging Markets” for the second year students of Executive MBA of University of Montevideo, Uruguay in November 2018. The course was an elective course offered by the University in Term 6 by Dr. Sugant as a part of Faculty Exchange Program (FEP) between SDMIMD and University of Montevideo. The course was attended by seventeen executives in mid/ senior management level  with work experience of 5-20 years and working in diverse organisations.

The key objective of the course was to expose participants to the exciting business opportunities in emerging markets and how they can spot and evaluate these opportunities. The course also helped the participants to understand the specific organisational strategies MNCs pursue in emerging markets. Most importantly, the course also provided a ring-side view of India – its industry, political climate and business opportunities.

The course was received very well by the participants and the program received excellent feedback.

Prof. Mohamed Minhaj on FEP to Business Analytics Summer School at Bayonne, France

Prof. Mohamed Minhaj was invited as a resource person for the Business Analytics Summer School held at Bayonne, France from 2nd to 11th July, 2018 . The 10-day accredited program with 4 ECTS credits was organized by Business Analytics Institute, France and IAE Pau-Bayonne. The other resource persons for the program were Dr. Davy Cielen, Managing Partner of the Maiton Consulting Group (London), Prof. Jean-Pierre NEVEU, Professor, Pau-Pays del’AdourUniversity, in Bayonne, France and Dr.  Lee SCHLENKER, Principal, Business Analytics Institute, France.
