Children's Day Celebration at Aadharsha Vidhyalya School, Jockey Quatres, Mysore, organized by Mysore University Information and Library Science Alumni Network (MILAN) in collaboration with LIFE Team of SDMIMD. Distributed sweets and books to 200+ young minds as a part of National Library Week.

The Chief Guest of the function Dr. Mallinath Kumbar, Professor and Chairman, Department of Library and Information Science, University of Mysore, Mysore, called upon the Children to cultivate the reading habit to succeed in life as it enhance the knowledge and helps us to be innovative.

Art of Referencing by Dr. N.S. Harinarayana - Day 2

Dr. N.S. Harinarayana, Associate Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, University of Mysore, Mysore, delivered the Day 2 talk of National Library Week 2017 (NLW 2017) on 'Art of Referencing' at Zonal Institute of Education and Training (ZIET), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan (KVS), Mysore. Dr. Harinarayana introduced the art of acknowledging the author / source from which we have borrowed the idea, content or consulted for our learning, research and publication. The speaker highlighted the importance of referencing in scholarly world and discussed how to use technology for research & publication activity. Open Source Reference Management Tool - Mendeley, was demonstrated in the talk.


Effective Use of Google by Prof. Minhaj - Day 3

Prof. Mohamed Minhaj, Faculty-Systems, SDMIMD, delivered the invited talk on 'Effective Use of Google'. Prof. Minhaj introduced the art of asking or communicating with Mr. Google. The filters, options and services available in simple and advanced search; and, Google Scholar were demonstrated.

Book talk by Dr.C Naganna - Day 4

Dr C Naganna, Author of “Bhanga” the Kannada translation of Chinua Achibe’s book titled “Things fall apart” delivered a book talk on “Things fall apart”. During the course of his lecture, Dr C. Naganna explained about the life and times of Chinua Achebe and his work. He explained the role played by the protagonist in the book and all other characters. He also spoke about how Chinua Achebe was praised for his work by none other than Nelson Mandela himself.

Use of Social Media for Employability by Ms. Vismaya M N - Day 5

SDMIMD alumnus Ms. Vismaya M N delivered an interesting talk on 'Use of Social Media for Employability'. The etiquette in digital presence, importance of communication, implication of digital credentials on placement opportunities, and work-life of Digital Marketing firm, were the topics discussed. The talk concluded with Q&A session.

Use of social media for employability- Ms Vismaya M N, Senior Digital Marketing Planner, Brave World Communication, explained about the various facets of social media and how both organizations and individuals can leverage social media to reap benefits and generate income. She also spoke about the prevailing roles in digital marketing and social media that MBA graduates can look out for.

One Day Workshop on Research and Publications - Day 6

One Day Workshop on Research and Publications. 30 participants had a great chance to listen to Dr. Jagadeesh Raj on Quality aspects in research and publication. Creativity and innovation in research; how to overcome research block? - were the other topics of the session. Had a chance to interact on key elements in journal publication. Good time with MILANers, friends from other institutions and corporate.

Book talk by Ms Sujata Rajpal - Day 7

Ms Sujata Rajpal, during her book talk spoke about the lead character “Leela” in her book and the issues she faces in her life. Ms Sujata also spoke about her inspiration behind writing this book. For the benefit of the audience, she also narrated the entire process of publishing a book and the difficulties she faced in this process.
