Mr. Dinesh Pillai to inaugurate LCSM 2014

Mr. Dinesh Pillai, CEO, Mahindra Special Services Group (Mahindra SSG) will be inaugurating the National Conference on Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM 2014) on September 26, 2014 at SDMIMD Auditorium.  Mr. Pillai will be delivering the Keynote Address during the inaugural session. 
 

Installation of the Toastmasters Club

On Saturday August 9, 2014, the SDMIMD Toastmasters club was inaugurated by TM Anitha, the Divisional Governor from Mangalore. Twenty four members of the club were administered the oath by TM Anitha. This was followed by the Office bearers of the new club taking the oath of office. This club has the distinction of being the first club in Mysore to be started by an Educational Institute.
 
This event was attended by the office bearers of the 4 other clubs in Mysore namely the Mysore Toastmasters and the clubs at SPI, Infosys and L & T. The event was graced by the presence of the TM Haris from SPI, TM Sayan Dey from Infosys, TM Karthik Rao from Mysore Toastmasters and several other Toastmasters.

Guest lecture by Dr. T. Kanti Srikantaiah

Dr. T. Kanti Srikantaiah is currently a professor from Maryland University and brings with him his 20 years of experience earlier working for the World Bank in Washington D.C., USA. He delivered a guest lecture on “Managing knowledge in project environment” at Institute’s Auditorium on August 04, 2014. The talk was well received by the students.

Visit of Lions International Exchange Students

SDMIMD played host to more than a dozen of foreign students from Mexico, Turkey, Switzerland, Finland and a number of other European countries on August 3, 2014. The students groups was a mix of Graduate and Undergraduate from medicine to engineering to business management fields. Dr. Harikrishnan Maram CEO & Founder of the Imperial College of Business Studies, Bangalore accompanied students to the campus. Dr. Harikrishnan Maram, is a Lions Club member. The students interacted with SDMites and engaged themselves in understanding about the contemporary education, cultural diversity and business scenario in India. 

International Conference at Singapore

SDMIMD, Mysore (principal academic partners) and J.A. Alpha Business Research & Publishers Pvt. Ltd, Chennai jointly organized an Asia-Pacific Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Social Sciences which was held from August 1 – 3, 2014, at Village Hotel Albert Court, Singapore.
Delegates from different parts of the world including China, Ghana, India, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. More than 40 delegates took part in the conference and presented their research papers. The discussions were very lively and the participants took active interest in the deliberations.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. David Minja of Kenyatta University, Kenya. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director & Professor of Marketing, SDMIMD, Mysore, delivered a special talk on the topic ‘Business Negotiations in the Global Scenario’ which was well received by the participants. 
This was the second of the conferences this year resulting out of the collaboration SDMIMD has with J A Alpha.

Faculty Development Program (FDPs) for SJCE, Mysore

SDMIMD extended academic support to Shri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Mysore in organizing Faculty Development Programs for SJCE Faculty Members under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP). Each of the 2 Day programs on – Quality in Research; Innovation in Teaching and Learning; Finance for Non-Finance Professionals – were designed and offered by the faculty members of SDMIMD, during July, 2014. Another program in this series on Human Relations at Work is scheduled for September 5 & 6, 2014.

Guest lecture by Dr. Selvam

Dr. M. Selvam, Professor & Director – Research, Alagappa University, Tamil Nadu delivered a talk on “Contemporary issues in management – A specific reference to managerial communication” on July 28, 2014. The talk was enriched with innovative presentation and focused on the need for managerial personnel to make a transition from good to great communication. The program was well received by the audience comprising of management students at SDMIMD Mysore.

Foundation Day Lecture 2014

“Business is not only about focusing on earning profit but also about removing social inequality. It is more important to share with others if you have more than what you can consume” said Mr. Sivakumar, Group-Head, Agri & IT Businesses, ITC Group during the Foundation Day Lecture held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at our the Institute Auditorium.
