Fifth International Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Social Sciences

SDMIMD, Mysore and J.A. Alpha Business Research & Publishers jointly organized the Fifth International Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Social Sciences during April 1-3, 2016 at Hotel Royal Regency, Chennai-India on the theme Monetary and Financial Stability in Asia! The Way Forward.
 
Prof. Antony Paulraj, Chair in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Management Sciences and Marketing Department, The University of Manchester, UK, delivered the Keynote Address on “Promoting Excellence in Research” during the inaugural session of the Conference.
 
One of the faculty from SDMIMD - Dr. Venkatraja B presented a research paper titled "Impact of Central Explicit Subsidies on Fiscal Deficit in India: An Empirical Study", the paper was well received.

CMDP for JK Tyre & Industries - Batch II

The 2nd Batch of the JK Tyre & Industries Customized Management Development Program (CMDP) was conducted from March 28 to 31, 2016. The program was inaugurated by Dr. N. R.Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD Mysuru. The program delivered over 4-days witnessed participation from 25 participants representing the JK Tyre & Industries Ltd.
 
The second in the series of programs designed for Identified High Performers (IHPs) of the company are being trained across all the functions of management comprising of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Operations, Strategy, and Information Technology.  Mr. Umesh K. Shenoy, Vice President – Works, JK Tyre & Industries, VTP Mysuru was the Chief Guest for the valedictory session. The program was coordinated by Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy – Director & Professor - Marketing, SDMIMD Mysuru.

CMDP for JK Tyre & Industries - Batch I

The 1st Batch of the JK Tyre & Industries Customized Management Development Program (CMDP) was conducted from March 21 to 24, 2016. The program was inaugurated by Dr. N. R.Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD Mysuru. The program delivered over 4-days witnessed participation from 19 participants representing the JK Tyre & Industries Ltd.

Special Seminar for the Faculty

For the benefit of the faculty team in general and the younger faculty in particular, a special seminar was organized on March 10, 2016. Dr. K. R. S. Murthy, Former Director, IIMB and Dr. A. K. Rao, Former Dean, IIMB and Former Director of SDMIMD, held forth on the various aspects of curriculum preparation, delivery, assessment and classroom discussion. The seminar also addressed new areas of research and changing methodology.

Budget Conclave 2016

The Union Government presented third budget on February 29, 2016. To discuss the implication and impact of this on the Country, a Budget Conclave 2016 was held in collaboration with CII Mysore, on March 2, 2016. The key highlights of Budget Conclave 2016 was the expert analysis of Union Budget 2016 by Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) and the presentation by industry leaders from Mysore region representing diverse sectors offering their perspectives on impact of the Union Budget 2016 and providing sector-specific views.

Debate Competition 2016

Prof. Y. Bhagavan Memorial National Level Debate was organized by SDMIMD in collaboration with Rotary Mid-town Mysore during Feb 27 & 28, 2016 at SDMIMD.
 
Inaugurating the competition Mr. Niranjan Nikam, Senior Journalist & Consultant – University of Mysore Centenary Celebrations, said ‘The debates, the dissents, the arguments, the counter arguments, are all part of growing up. Not claiming that ‘my ideology is the best’, understanding, absorbing, assimilating all with a fresh and open mind is essential. The moment the mind becomes rigid, then the loser is none other than you yourself. You close your mind to all thoughts, views, opinions, ideas and the world passes you by. Debate Competition 2016

The Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony Dr. Sujatha Muthanna, L&D Infosys, Mysuru, spoke about the relevance of debating and establishing one’s point of view in the corporate world. The youth of today are driven and this streak must extend to the corporate environment. This will pave the way for them to carve a niche for themselves.
 
64 bright young minds from 8 States representing different disciplines of education - Law, Engineering, Management, Medical, Arts & Science - debated on the topics "All nations should have a right to carry Nuclear Weapons" & "In India, betting in Cricket should be legalized" during First Round held on February 27, 2016. “The Indian News Media does not deserve the epithet – Presstitutes” was the topic for Top 12 from First Round.
 
Prof. Govinda Sharma in his valedictory address highlighted the importance of debate and how it will give different dimensions to our thought process. Prof. Sharma appreciated the topics chosen for debate and lauded the students members involved in organizing the debate for making it a National Level event. 
 
Mr. Jeydev C.S. of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, won the First Place; Ms. Anshul Wadwa of Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship (XIME) stood 2nd and Ms. Shree Shishya Mishra of Alliance School of Law, Bengaluru, secured the 3rd Place. The other 9 finalist were given consolation prizes.

Successful Placement season at SDMIMD

The campus placement process for the 2016 eligible graduating students of the PGDM at SDMIMD, Mysore is completed. With 36 companies participating in the campus recruitment, Students have bagged lucrative profiles in leading organizations, with attractive packages, ₹ 12 lakhs being the highest salary this year; the average salary offered to an SDMIMD student this year is ₹ 6.5 lakhs.
 
The graduating students have been placed in organisations cutting across all the established major sectors including Consultancy, Sales and Marketing, BFSI, Manufacturing, IT, Logistics & Supply Chain and HR. 
 
Leading companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, SPI, Oracle, ANZ, Copal Amba, Mahindra Finance, TTK Prestige, Idea Cellular, Asian Paints, Practo Technologies, Brigade group, HDFC Limited, Ujjivan Financials, Janalakshmi, SKS Microfinance, ESAF, Sys Information, Writer Corporation, Target Corporation, Blue Ocean etc. have  recruited from our campus. The students were offered various roles like Business Analyst, Management Trainee, Branch Manager etc. across functions like sales, finance, consulting and HR.
