Visit of students from Porto Business School, Portugal

A group of 11 executive students and 2 faculty from Porto Business School, Portugal visited us from 5th March to 11th March 2023, as part of the exchange arrangement with them. The week-long orientation included talks, corporate visits and a social project exposure.

Heilbronn University Students and faculty visit SDMIMD

Faculty and 15 Students from Heilbronn University, Germany led by Dr. Susanne Wilpers, Professor of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Business and Transport Management, Heilbronn University, Germany, and Program Coordinator Ms Debi  arrived at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD). SDMIMD had arrangements with Heilbronn university for student and faculty exchange. They have visited the SDMIMD from 21 February 2023 to 28 February 2023.

European Business Analytics Institute’s Winter School on AI for Good held at SDMIMD

Business Analytics Institute, headquartered in France, conducted its  Winter School at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysuru, from 1 to  10 Feb 2023 at SDMIMD campus. The programme was attended by company executives and students selected from various European Universities. Besides students from Belgium, Switzerland, France and Ukraine, ten Indian Students from SDMIMD were selected to attend the programme. The programme centred on the theme of “AI for Good”, entailed discussions on Ethical AI, AI for Social Good and a workshop on Machine Learning Tools. As part of this programme, the participants visited Dharmasthala and interacted with Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, about Rural Development, Micro Finance, and Health Care Programmes of SDM Trust. The participants of the programme developed use cases for leveraging AI to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Healthcare, Education and Rural Development. The resource persons for the programme included Dr Lee Schlenker and Prof. Davy Cielen from Business Analytics Institute, Prof. Christian Hitz from Zurich University and Prof. Mohamed Minhaj from SDMIMD, Mysuru.

Visit of University of Montevideo Student

As a part of the international exchange arrangement, SDMIMD hosted a group of students from the University of Montevideo, Uruguay, South America, who participated in a week long academic exchange program. They were accompanied by a faculty member, Dr. Carlos Folle, Professor of Strategy and Marketing, in that university. The group enjoyed the ambience and hospitality of SDM IMD in Mysore, and actively participated in a variety of activities exclusively arranged for them.
 
The faculty of SDMIMD conducted special sessions to the students related to courses like Finance, Operations, Marketing, Human Resources, Information Technology, Managerial Communication, and general management. The class sessions were held in the morning every day and in the afternoon, the students were taken on an industry or corporate visit. They visited a few industries in Mysore, and had a good exposure to the corporate culture in India, and management practices. They also visited the Mysore office of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, popularly known as SKDRDP,. The students got all the information about the social responsibility initiatives and rural development by interacting with the executives and personnel from the project group. Further, the students worked on group projects by collaborating with the second year PGDM students of SDMIMD, under the guidance of the faculty.
 
The program was overall coordinated by Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean – Academics, and Professor of Operations Management.

Young Managers from China Visited SDMIMD on Exchange Program

A team of 16 MBA students from Shanghai University, China, were at SDMIMD during October 3 to 7, 2016, on a week-long Exchange Program as a part of the International tie up arrangement. The young managers were led by Ms. Ai Lina from partnering university. 
 
To make the visit enriching and learning experience a lecture series was organized by experts from industries. The series included talks on leadership dimensions, managerial communication, international business, business negotiation and business analytics.   
 
Further,.they got a hands-on experience about social responsiblility and rural development during their visit to SKDRDP (Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project); Asha Kirana Charitable Trust and Hospital; and other NGO’s.
 
Tthe visiting students started their day with a one-hour ‘Yoga and Wellness’ program, which was enjoyed by the students. The students had an opportunity to get introduced to the history, culture, art, architecture and heritage of India, in general, Mysore, in particular, as a part of cultural immersion activity. Social interaction and sightseeing were part of the itinerary. 
 
The week-long engaging activity also included industry visits, interaction with corporate leaders, and project presentations.

Exchange Program visit of Dr. Neetu Ganapathy to Shanghai University

    
Dr. Neetu Ganapathy was invited by the Shanghai University in Shanghai, China to teach a course on Cross-Border Managerial Communication between September 3, 2016 and September 11, 2016. The course was part of the curriculum of the Global Local MBA program and was attended by 31 participants from across China and Spain.  
 
Considering the diversity in today's workplace, the course aimed at sensitizing managers to the need to be aware of the differences that exist between people from different cultures. It focussed on helping managers to understand the need to develop cross-cultural communication competence, get to know other cultures, use the right verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, develop a cross-cultural adaptation strategy and negotiate on cross-cultural teams. The pedagogy comprised of lectures, case discussions and role plays.

Tie-up with University of Montevideo, Uruguay

SDMIMD has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Montevideo, Uruguay, establishing tie-up for the student and faculty exchange. The first student exchange is likely to take place in October / November 2016.
