Talk by SKDRDP Executive Director

Dr. L. Manjunath, Executive Director, Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), Dharmasthala, demonstrated how the rural market is an avenue where young minds of today should focus their attention for the development of the villages which would mean all round development of the nation. Dr. Manjunath explained how SKDR project aimed at improving the number of villages banked by actually providing microfinance and micro-insurance schemes. Dr. Manjunath gave the practical insight into various schemes of the SKDRP and its implementation. The talk was organized as a part of the Orientation Program for the PGDM 2013-14 Batch on June 6, 2013 at the Institute auditorium.

Talk on Entrepreneurial challenges and innovation

Mr. Anant R Koppar, Chairman & CEO, KTwo Technology Solutions, Bangalore, was the speaker for the Orientation Program Lecture held on June 6, 2013 for the PGDM 2013-15 Batch. Mr. Anant spoke on topic “Entrepreneurial challenges and innovation”.

Invited Talk by HR Advisor

Mahalingam Mr. C. Mahalingam, Executive Coach and HR Advisor, gave inspirational and advise talk on the topic “Control your Destiny or Somebody will” on June 5, 2013 at the Institute auditorium. Mr. Mahalingam highlighted the importance of self-measurement in reaching our destiny. The interactive session with the speaker and the new batch of PGDM 2013-15 students was interesting.

Guest Lecture by Prof. A. V. Narasimha Murthy

Prof. A. V. Narasimha Murthy, Chairman Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mysore was the invited speaker at SDMIMD Mysore during the second day of Orientation Program for PGDM Batch 2013-15. Prof Murthy, in his talk stressed on continuous need for nurturing Indian Culture, Tradition and Heritage which is very rich from times immemorial. He pointed out how countries in other parts of the world, for e.g., Latin and Greek have totally failed in keep their culture alive. He also mentioned that in India, even now The Gita, The Bible, The Quran, Philosophies of Buddhism and Jainism works are respected and followed. 

Orientation Program for PGDM 2013-15 batch

The beginning of the PGDM 2013-15 batch was marked with the motivational line from the book Road to Success – “If you will, it happens” by Prof. S. Prabhakar, Honorable Secretary, Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational (SDME) Trust, Ujire. Addressing the PGDM 2013-15 Batch during the inauguration of Orientation Program, Prof. Prabhakar stressed upon the budding mangers to have will to be an entrepreneur. He stressed on charging oneself with positive energy before learning so that learning becomes complete. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, Mysore, introduced the students to academic world of Management education at SDMIMD. Prof. S.N. Prasad, Chairman – Admissions, SDMIMD, welcomed the gathering and Prof. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, gave an overview on ‘Life at SDMIMD’.

Management Development Programs (MDPs)

With a customized approach towards problem solving, SDMIMD has devised a series of training program aimed at corporate. The solutions provided make the corporate understand the simplicity in tackling issues that would seem complex otherwise. Focus areas include: creation of new competencies in managing diversity of businesses, technologies, people dynamics and global markets. Some of the MDPs conducted for executives last year includes Cyber Law, Services Marketing etc. Leading companies like Raman Boards & Automotive Axles Ltd. tied up with the institute for employees training & development.

MDP on Finance for Non Finance Executives

A two day program on topic "Finance for Non Finance Executives" was conducted by Dr. Ullas Rao and Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Faculty members of SDMIMD on May 17 & 18, 2013. The training was structured with an objective of imparting basic skill sets comprising accounting, financial management and cost management to the Non-finance working executives.

MDP on Statistical Process Control

One day training program on Statistical Process Control (SPC) Using Excel was conducted by Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Faculty member of SDMIMD on May 18, 2013. The training module aimed at imparting concepts and theory of SPC using Microsoft Excel. The program provided hands-on experience on Excel; and, demonstrated on how to improve quality & to generate reports using Excel.
