Opportunities in the Healthcare Sector in India

‘Among the multiple opportunities available to the young managers, healthcare is most emerging and demanding’ thus opined Mr. Bharatheesh Reddy, Head, Business Unit, Apollo Hospital, Mysuru, during his orientation lecture on ‘Opportunities in the healthcare sector in India’ delivered on June 15, 2015 at the Institute auditorium. Mr. Reddy said, Apollo has 10% share of the 60,000 Crore turnover of the Indian healthcare sector. He explained the contribution of heathcare to Indian GDP, the organization of Apollo and best HR practices. Mr. Reddy opined that 10% of all the employment in the health sector should be filled by management graduates. 

‘Adopt to Environment’ advice by Alumnus

Mr. Narendra Medappa, alumnus of the Institute and Practice Lead, Talent Acquisition, Infosys Ltd, Bengaluru, talked about - what an MBA journey is all about, and what to consider in placements, on June 13, 2015. In the talk organized as a part of Orientation Lecture Series 2015, Mr. Medappa advised the students to focus on adaptability, learnability and collaboration through the journey which are key requirements of corporates. Further he said one must consider organizational culture, learning environment, empowerment and flexibility in managing individual career in placements.

Tips for ‘Successful Corporate Life’

“Understand your importance, care for fitness, focus on your uneasy areas, cognize the path for yourself to become an all-rounder, strong on fundamentals irrespective of your area of interest, grow in the path along with milestones” were the tips given by Mr. E.V.S. Saibabu, Vice President, Talent Acquisition, Wipro, Bengaluru, to the fresh batch of PGDM 2015-17. Mr. Saibabu was delivering the invited lecture on ‘What Corporates Expect from You’ on June 13, 2015 organized as a part of Orientation Lecture Series 2015. 

‘Campus to Corporate’ talk by S. Sanjay of SPI

Mr. Sanjay Srinivasmurthy, Associate Vice President, Global IT Delivery, Software Paradigm International (SPI), Mysuru, spoke about Corporate Expectations from Management graduates, in his talk ‘Campus to Corporate’ organized on June 13, 2015. Mr. Sanjay stressed on the need to be up-to-date. Further, he highlighted the requirements that are imperative in professional life such as skills, commitment, leadership and ethical standards.

Invited talk by Alumnus

Mr. Sreevathsa S., Chief Executive Officer, Specvin Technologies, Mysuru and Alumnus of PGDM batch 2003-05 delivered an invited talk to the new batch of PGDM 2015-17 as a part of Orientation Lecture Series 2015. Mr. Sreevathsa, in his talk on “What Corporates Expect from Management Students”, gave 10 tips to succeed in their career and life. He also stressed on the fact that the basic education degree should not be discarded for other streams of education.

Orientation Lecture Series 2015

 
The week long ‘Orientation Lecture Series 2015’ was organized during June 12 to 18, 2015 to introduce the new batch of PGDM 2015-17 to the business scenario. Experts from industry and academia shared their thoughts and experiences. Further, the experts provided guidance to face the practicality of the PGDM program and corporate life. 
The lecture by Mr. Rajashekara Melanta, Management Consultant, Bengaluru, was the first lecture delivered in this 2015 series. The lecture organized on June 12, 2015 at the institute auditorium was extempore, informative, interactive and educative. Mr. Melanta, drew responses from the students about their aspirations and expectations for the next 2 years. The talk was very interactive, with Mr. Melanta giving his expert inputs to students for achieving success in career and life.

Orientation Program for PGDM 2015-17

 
The inaugural function of the Orientation program for the newly-admitted PGDM 2015-17 students was organized on June 12, 2015 at the Institute Auditorium. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD initiated the program by lighting the traditional lamp and delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Parasuraman shared the message from the Honorable Chairman Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade with the young students. The program began with offering of prayers by Ms. Aishwarya Balasubramanyam2nd year student of the PGDM program. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, greeted the fresh batch for their new endeavor and urged them to be focused for the next 22 months. A special talk titled ‘Life at SDMIMD’ was introduced to the new SDMites by Col. S.N. Prasad, Chairman - Admissions. Following this, an instructive session on ‘About PGDM Program’ was presented by Prof. Malathi Sriram, Chairperson – Academic Programs.

CRISIL Re-rates SDMIMD as A** (A Double Star)

SDMIMD has been re-rated A** (A Double Star) by Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited (CRISIL) at the National level. The ranking by CRISIL assumes special importance in the light of the fact that the rating was awarded after a thorough inspection of the facilities in the Institute, the performance in respect of Admissions, Placements, academic rigor, and the feedback from alumni and students.
