Pre-Conference HR Workshop

The 6th Edition of International Conference on “Managing Human Resources at the workplace” organized Pre-Conference HR Workshop on ‘Managing today’s employees: Issues and concerns’ on December 7, 2017. The workshop focused on  contemporary topics, such as, work-life balance, talent retention, and psychological contract. Dr. Ahsley Pinningon, Dean -Research, BUiD; Mr.  Shama Sundar, CEO & President Paajaka Consultancy Service; Mr. Dwarakanath, Principal Advisor, National Education Foundation (NEF), Washington D.C.; and Mr.  Prem Kamble, Trainer and Management consultant; are the resource persons. More than 40 Research scholars, academicians and HR professionals, participated in the workshop. 

Vittaksh’17 on Economic Reforms

The SDMites Finance Club – Finnacle organized the annual club event Vittaksh on December 4, 2017. This year the event was focused on the theme “Economic Reforms: Snakes or Ladders”. An online quiz conducted on November 24, 2017 shortlisted 12 team out of 107 team participated, for finale held at SDMIMD campus. B-schools like SIBM Bangalore, XIME Bangalore, Christ University, ICFAI Bangalore, NIMMS Bangalore, SIMSREE Mumbai etc., participated in the final round. 
 
Inaugurating the event the Director of SDMIMD Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, shared the latest trends in the field of finance and management and gave insights on what is expected from B-school graduates by the industry. Dr. M. Sriram, Professor - Finance and the mentor of the Finnacle Club, presented the theme of Vittaksh 17 and explained how a healthy competition is assessed. The competition saw in total 3 rounds which included rounds on Derivatives, Economic reforms and Private placements that made the participants to be on their toes to be crowned as the Ultimate Financier. 
 
Team “Mavericks” Comprised of Mr. Zahid M. Jamal and Miss Simranjeet Kaur from SIBM, Bengaluru bagged the first prize with a cash amount of Rs 20,000 and Team “Vanquishers”, comprising Miss, Makshi Misri and Miss Urvashi Jeswani, from (Sir, I will get the information) emerged as the runners-up who claimed a cash prize worth Rs 15,000.

6th International HR Conference

In the ever-changing business context, Human Resource Management has been playing the role of the key differentiator in business growth, development and survival for firms. Along with addressing functional issues, HRM has been contributing strategically towards the return on investment of any organization. Human resource management, therefore, deals with core issues of managing the change in the business processes and aligning the organizations’ systems, structures, and policies to leverage competitiveness, with regard to the operating business environment. The emphasis today is to manage HR functions and policies in a manner such that organizations can be provided with a unique pool of people who can continuously take the organization to new levels of growth and sustainability.
 
In the above backdrop, SDMIMD is organizing its 6th International Conference on Managing Human Resources at the Workplace, on 8 and 9 10 December, 2017, at SDMIMD campus, Mysuru.

Blood Donation Camp 2017

 
“The opportunity to donate blood is a privilege” thus said Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp 2017 on Monday, December 4, 2017. In his address said, he lauded the efforts of HDFC Bank as well as the students of SDMIMD for this noble initiative. The event was a reinforcement of the principles for which SDMIMD stands and the social responsibility attitude demonstrated by the students.
 
Under an event organized by HDFC Bank, SDMIMD hosted a blood donation camp at the Institute with the medical support from Jeevadhara Blood Bank, A unit of Cauvery Social Services Trust ®, Mysore. A large number of students donated blood on this occasion. 

National Library Week 2017

The LIFE (Library Initiative For Education) team of SDMites joined hands with Mysore University Information and Library Science Alumni Network (MILAN) in celebrating the National Library Week during November 14-20, 2017. Children Day Celebration at Aadharsha Vidhyalaya, Mysore; Book Talks by Prof. Naganna on his work Bhanga (Kannada translation of Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe) and Ms. Sujata Rajpal on her work ‘Other end of the Corridor’; Tech Talks on Reference Management System by Dr. N.S. Harinarayana and Google Searching by Prof. M. Minhaj; and, Workshop on Research and Publication by Dr. R. Jagadeesh, are the events organized as a part of this week-long celebration.

SDMIMD renews MoU with NSE Academy Limited to Offer NCCMP Certification Program

SDMIMD has renewed its MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with NSE Academy Limited, Chennai to offer NCCMP (NSE Certified Capital Markets Professional) to the PGDM students. This is a certification programme jointly offered by SDMIMD and NSE Academy Limited, a subsidiary of NSE Limited, Chennai. The certification provides a fillip to the students who are aspiring for a career in Capital Markets. The MoU also provides an opportunity for SDMIMD and NSE Academy Limited to offer training programmes jointly in Capital Markets and allied areas for working professionals and corporate executives. The MoU was signed by Dr.N.R.Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, Mysuru and Mr.Himanshu Srivastava, Deputy Manager, NSE Academy Limited in the presence of Dr.M.Sriram, Assistant Professor-Finance, SDMIMD.

3rd International Economics Conference

 
SDMIMD organised two-day International Conference on “Economic Growth and Sustainable Development: Emerging Trends” on November 10-11, 2017 at SDMIMD campus. Sri.S. Chandrasekhar, Managing Director, Bhoruka Power Corporation Limited inaugurated the conference. In his keynote address, Mr.Chandrasekhar raised concerns overs poor productivity, jobless growth and rising unhedged loans which impede economic growth in India. He believes that sustainable development could be achieved only through sustainable energy. Energy security has been considered as lynchpin of sustained economic growth. Dr.N.R.Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD emphasised on the urgent need for intensive research in the field of risk management to sustain the growth of corporate firms.        
 
Dr.Doug Gilbert, Staff Faculty, School of Business, University of Phoenix, USA, Dr.Anand Srinivasan, Associate Professor-Finance, National University of Singapore, Singapore and Sri.K.P.Aggarwal, Business Head- HDFC Ltd. were the prominent Distinguished Speakers deliberated upon the various dimensions of growth and sustainability. Prof.K.K.Ramesh, Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode delivered valedictory address on November 11, 2017.
 
During the course of two days, 198 selected academic research papers were presented and deliberated. The conference had more than 250 delegates participating from several countries including USA, Singapore, Mauritius, Iran, Nigeria, Yemen, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Egypt. 
 
The conference was coordinated by Dr.B.Venkatraja, Assistant Professor-Economics at SDMIMD.

IEC Valedictory Talk by Prof. K.K Ramesh, IIM-K

Prof K.K.Ramesh, Professor, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode delivered valedictory talk to the 3rd International Economics Conference on Economic Growth and Sustainable Development: Emerging Issues. Prof. Ramesh stressed on the speedy growth of agriculture, food security, demographic dividend, balanced regional growth, equitable growth as key parameters for sustainable growth to Indian content. He believed that demonetisation and effective implementation of GST would translate to higher and sustained growth in the future.
