Orientation talk by Talent Management Expert

Mr David Watkins, Senior VP, Group Talent, Transformation & Engagement, OC Oerlikon Management AG, Switzerla, was the invited speaker for the talk ‘Talent Management’ scheduled on August 11, 2020 for the PGDM 2020-2022. Speaker Mr Watkins discussed on - how technology works and how it continues to disrupt almost every business sector with constant advancements; no industry is completely immune from the impact of technology; and, how the need of the hour is to focus on building different skill sets and what are the types of jobs which will be demand and will be recruited in 2030. The Q&A session focused on the future of careers and Global Orientation; employment skills and workforce strategy for industry 4.O.

Prof. Pinnington delivers Orientation Talk to New Batch

Prof. Ashly H. Pinnington, Dean of Research, The British University in Dubai, was invited to deliver the orientation talk to the new batch of PGDM Program on August 11, 2020. Prof. Pinnington focused the talk on the optimal self-development by using the abundant resources available to us. With relevant examples, the speaker introduced the Big Five Factor Model and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to the young managers. During the interaction, Prof. Pinnington helped the new batch understand the resources with Individual - self-knowledge; Team – knowing others; Organization – Belonging; Industry – Contribution; National – leveraging; and, Global – Universal Being.

Invited talk by Mr Rajanarayanan

Mr N Rajanarayanan, VP, Marketing and Investor Relations, The Federal Bank, was the speaker for the Day 2, August 11, 2020, of the orientation program for the PGDM 2020-2022. Mr Rajanarayanan said, ‘Change is the Only Constant’. To effectively handle constant change, the business needs an effective change management process so that it can meet the changes head on. Further, he said ‘high time for companies to realize the need for innovation which is one of the critical factors for succeeding’.

Commencement of PGCM 2020-21 Batch

The AICTE recognized One-Year Post Graduate Certificate Program (PGCM) for the Batch 2020-2021 commenced on August 10, 2020. Inaugurating the program, Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director and Academic Head of the Program welcomed the new batch and introduced the courses offered in different terms and the process involved. The Academic Head introduced the educational service delivered by the SDM Educational Trust and spoke about the student etiquettes at SDMIMD. 

SDMIMD Welcomes PGDM 2020-2022 Students with Orientation Program

Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, welcomed the batch of PGDM 2020-2022 Batch. He shared the institute’s recent landmark rankings, vision, and mission of the Institute, and advised the students to get out of their comfort zone. Sri. Surendra Kumar, Vice-President, SDMIMD, congratulated the batch for getting into a B-School with international accreditation listed among the Top 100 B-Schools in the country.

Release of SDMIMD 25 Years Commemorative Volume

On the glorious occasion of the completion of 25 Years, SDMIMD recorded the achievements and milestones in the form of photo book “SDMIMD 25 Years of Honouring a Commitment” in eventful journey. The photo book was released by Honourable Chairman of SDMIMD Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmdhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, on August 6, 2020 at Dharmasthala. The photobook presented the journey of SDMIMD right from commencement of operation in 1993 and evolving into a mighty institution for higher learning, and research, winning international acclaim.

MDP on HR on Non-HR Managers

A MDP on ‘HR for Non-HR’ was organized on August 7, 2020. The faculty resource Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Professor – HR/OB and Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta, Professor – HR/OB from SDMIMD, focused on the people management issues, faced by professionals engaged in administrative roles and non-HR professionals at all levels, in day-to-day work life situations. The case studies are used to discuss the issues involved in interactions with people, across all levels, irrespective of the nature of our work. Further, the interaction on functions, ranging from leading and motivating staff to appraising their performance was very interesting. The program concentrated on people management skills and techniques for the participants. 

MDP on Business Data Analysis and Power BI

A 2-Day Management Development Program (MDP) on Business Data Analysis with Microsoft Excel and Power BI was organized on July 27 and 28, 2020. Prof. M. Minhaj, Faculty-Systems, SDMIMD, was the resource person for this online MDP. The program provided a comprehensive introduction to MS-Excel and helped the participants to understand the effective ways to use Excel for Data Analysis and Business Modelling. Further, the program helped the participants to get familiarize with the usage of Power BI for Managerial Reporting and Decision Making.
