Certificates to the Overseas Students of UoM

A function to award certificates to successful candidates of the second edition of the Developing Business Excellence (DBE) program for overseas students was held in the SDMIMD campus recently.
 
Dr S.J. Manjunath, Co-ordinator of Third Sector Research Centre; Professor of Business Administration; and, Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Mysore, Mysore, expressed the view that learning from the DBE Program about the best practices concerning social responsibility and the business environment of any country will help expand the knowledge horizon. Such learning makes us connect to the contemporary world and relate to the research domain. He lauded SDMIMD for launching this unique program and helping overseas students to know India and its culture, business environment and concern to society.
 
 
The overseas students from Afghanistan, Namibia, Cambodia, Botswana, and Yemen, pursuing master’s program at the University of Mysore, Mysuru, were nominated by the Third Sector Research Centre to attend the 2 Week ‘Developing Business Excellence – with a sense of social responsibility program designed and offered for overseas students studying in India by SDMIMD, Mysore. A month back, the first edition of the program had been conducted for overseas students at St Philomena’s College Mysore.
 
Director of SDMIMD Dr. N.R. Parasuraman outlined the objective behind the program and how it seeks to bring home to overseas students the twin goals of SDMIMD – excellence in management education coupled with imbibing ethical and responsible practices. Dr Parasuraman appreciated the Third Sector Department of the University of Mysore for this initiative in nominating these students
 
The faculty members who delivered the sessions distributed the certificate to the 25 participants who completed the program's evaluation criteria.
 
Course participants shared their learning from the program during the event.
 
Earlier, Dr. Sunil MV, Head – Academic Administration, welcomed the gathering. Dr. S.N. Prasad presented the vote of thanks. Ms. Rekha Ganapathy, Coordinator of the program, moderated the certificate awarding ceremony. 

Webinar on Ecosystem of Indian Capital Market

A webinar to introduce the 'Ecosystem of Indian Capital Market' to the aspirants of the one-year PGCM in Investment Banking was held on July 23, 2021. SDMIMD hosted the webinar along with the knowledge partner NSE Academy Ltd, Mumbai. The Director of SDMIMD, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman spoke on the current state of the financial markets and the role of investment bankers in capital market operations. Mr.  M Jeyaprakash from  NSE delivered the session on the topic 'Ecosystem of Indian Capital Market' and highlighted the career opportunities for investment banking professionals and the required skillsets for taking up investment banking as a specialization. Dr. M.V. Sunil, Head-Academic Administration, provided the details about the program structure. Prof. Gandhi, Chairperson-Admissions, spoke on the eligibility and admission process for enrolling for the PGCM program. The webinar was coordinated and moderated by Dr. M. Sriram, Associate Professor - Finance, SDMIMD.

Webinar on Changing Paradigms in the Workplace!

The PGDM 2021-2023 Batch had an opportunity to interact with Dr. Elango Rengasamy, Associate Professor of Finance and Program Leader, Global Business Studies (GBS), Dubai – UAE, on July 23, 2021, during the webinar on the topic 'Enlightened on Changing Workplace Paradigms - Upskill yourself to the New Normal.' Dr. Elango Rengasamy discussed why businesses fail at inopportune times and how firms should respond to this new normal. Further, the speaker also addressed the need for reskilling in the post-Covid era and the future role of management graduates in business.

Webinar on Highly Effective Management Students (HEMS)

The webinar on 'The emerging habits of Highly Effective Management Students (HEMS): Reminiscing SDMIMD India' delivered by Dr. Stephen Aro-Gordon of Muscat College's Department of Business and Accounting was organized on July 16, 2021. The Webinar was organized as part of the immersion program to introduce the different dimensions of business & management to the new batch of the program. Dr. Stephen asserted that HEMS strives to maximize management education through a purpose-driven, life-long learning approach that focuses on establishing a sense of vision, mission, credos, and the desired transferrable skills and professional values. Based on his memories of the exceptional research and teaching quality provided at the SDMIMD in Mysore, India, the speaker expressed his confidence that new students will find SDMIMD an excellent place to study.

SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) like to present the 2021 edition of Management Development Programs (MDPs). MDP 2021 is focused on changing demands in business and needs of professional executives. Over the years SDMIMD’s MDP is known for its Executive Education offering in different sectors at different levels in an organization.

Convergence 3i - Industry - Institute - Interface

The annual event of academics and industry interface - Convergence 3i was organized on March 16, 2021, The virtual event was kickstarted with the presentation on Mr Chandramouli, CEO, Feedback Insights on the topic 'Modern Workplace Culture'. The talk was followed by the Panel Discussion on " Expectations of the Employers from the Job Aspirants in the Post Covid Era". Mr Chandramouli, CEO of Feedback Insights, Mysore; Mr Kshitij Mathur and Ms Jyothsna D. from PGDM 2020-2022, were the panel members. Dr. Prasad S.N., Professor - Strategy, SDMIMD, moderated the panel discussion.

Startup Charcha 2021

Startup Charcha, 2021, culmination event of various entrepreneurship activities, was organized by SWAYAM - The eCell of SDMIMD on March 12, 2021. A panel discussion on “How Start-ups Succeed and Why they Fail?" was conducted as part of the event with Mr Saurabh Shah, Vice President, Idea Lemon Institute for Entrepreneurship, Nagpur; Mr R. Nataraj, PhD Scholar, SDMIMD; and, Ms Meghana R. PGDM Student, SDMIMD; as members. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Prasad S.N., Professor - Strategy, SDMIMD.

International Women's Day 2021

On March 8, 2021 SDMIMD organized a virtual panel discussion on “Women in Leadership”. Dr. Neetu Ganapathy, the moderator for the session, welcomed the gathering and emphasized how the pandemic had highlighted the central role that women play in society and the disproportionate burden that they bear. The Director, Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, mentioned the efforts taken at SDMIMD to encourage girl students which includes making a conscious attempt to admit more girl students each year in addition to providing them with scholarships.
