B-School Partner for NHRD Conclave

The academic events at SDMIMD has always focused on far-reaching impact on management education and business. To continue this in the out-reach activity SDMIMD collaborated with the National Human Resource Development (NHRD) Network as 'B-School Partner' in organizing 19th NHRD Conclave at New Delhi during November 19 & 20, 2015. The event was a platform for interacting with HR professionals. The B-School Partner Stall of SDMIMD at the conclave attracted the participants for information exchange.

SDMites stood 2nd in ‘Effectus’ @ XIMERA 2015

Nabeel Iqbal Mogral and Kidiyoor Nihal Saheb of PGDM 2015-17 bagged second place in the Operations Management event 'Effectus' organized as a part of XIMERA 15 - the National level B-School Management fest. The ‘Effectus’ comprised of seven rounds, SDMites secured second place betting 15 teams from various B-schools cross India. XIMERA 15 was organized by Xavier Institute for Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bengaluru, during November 6 & 7, 2015 at Bengaluru.

National Conference on Consumer Behaviour

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) Mysuru conducted the First National Conference on Consumer behaviour - Contemporary Issues & Emerging Trends on October 30th 2015. The Conference was inaugurated by Mr. Srikanth Srinivasan, Director- HR, Cognizant Technology solutions. While delivering the Key note address Mr. Srikanth Srinivasan focused on various aspects of Consumer behaviour, its multidisciplinary nature and the emerging trends in consumer behaviour across industry sectors like financial services, retail etc. The Conference witnessed participation from academics research scholars and industry analysts from various parts of the country. The one day conference has research papers which are conceptual and empirical focusing on contemporary developments in consumer behaviour. The valedictory special address was delivered by Dr. Stephen Aro-Gordon, Dept. Chair of Financial Mathematics, Baze University, Nigeria.

Dubai Conference 2015

The 3rd Middle East Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance & Banking was organized at Dubai, UAE during October 16 to 18, 2015 jointly by SDMIMD, Mysore and J.A. Alpha Business Research & Publishers. The theme of the conference ‘Financial Markets-The Catalysts for Growth!’ attracted academic and corporate nominations across the globe.

Mr. Bruce Powers, CMT, President, Wide Vision, Information Technology Solutions, Chief Market Technician, MarketsToday.net, Co-Chair, Market Technicians Association-Dubai Chapter, inaugurated the conference at Al Murooj Rotana Hotel and delivered the keynote address.

Dr. M. R. Suresh, Professor – Marketing, SDMIMD, delivered an invited talk during the technical session on Leadership and Company Growth. During the conference Dr. Suresh presented the paper ‘Strategic responses of successful enterprises: an analysis across ownership forms’ and chaired a session.

SDMites emerged as Runners-up Inflore 2015 Event

Rajagiri Centre for Business Studies, Kakkanad, Kochi had organised ‘Inflore 2015’, a National Level Management fest on 15 & 16 October 2015.A team of 16 students from 1st year, SDMIMD, participated in 5 events, namely Best Manager, Best Management Team, Marketing, Finance and HR.

Mr. Ankit Sanghani, Mr. Narendran, Ms. Thamburu N Sanan and Mr. Vijesh M V, have won the first prize in the finance game "Rabban". The event comprised of 6 rounds, which was a deluge of financial problems based on a variety of financial aspects that would be best described as the 'Technical's' of Finance.

Ms. Hannah Priyadarshini B, Mr. Krishna Arun, Ms. Shushma Chengappa have won the second prize in the HR game "Afonso". The event comprised of various HR activities such as recruitment ad, exit interview and case study.

Success Story by SDMIMD Alumnus

The students of PGDM batch 2015-17 had an opportunity to hear a ‘Success Story’ from SDMIMD Alumnus of Batch 1999-2001 Mr. Venktesh Charan, Director, Vaswaat Chemicals Limited on Saturday, October 17, 2015.

In his talk, Mr. Charan shared valuable insights from an entrepreneurial point of view, most of which related to his personal experience as Director of Vaswaat Chemicals Limited, a premier chemical company which has been associated with the development, production, and supply of chemicals for pharmaceuticals, leather, textiles, oil and gas, and cosmetic companies, among others.

Mr. Charan also set aside time during his talk to acknowledge the students’ perspectives and ideas regarding entrepreneurship, and also answered several of the students’ questions.

As a part of the exchange arrangement that SDMIMD has with the University of Shanghai, 17 students from SHU MBA, headed by their Deputy Chief Program Officer Ms. Jieting Xing were at SDM IMD Mysuru for a week. In accordance with the rationale of the Study Tour, the aim of which is to foster an understanding of academics supported with industry visits, the team from Shanghai University underwent special sessions by the SDMIMD faculty and also visited seval industrial units in and around Mysore. TVS Motors, Infosys and Skanray Technologies Pvt Ltd., were some of the companies that were visited. In these companies, the students were able to get an idea of best practices and could compare these with the corresponding management styles in China.

Special classes were held on topics such as Quality, Business Communications, Indian IT industry, Business Negotiations, Human Resources Management, Financial indicators of Indian Stock Markets & Indices and Dimensions of Leadership.

The visit culminated with the Shanghai team interacting with the local press to give a broad overview of their perspective regarding India, its industry people and specifically about SDMI MD Mysuru.
