ESIC Workshop held at SDMIMD

Dealing with people, understanding their needs and attitudes, and catering to their requirements, while remaining within the purview of the rules and regulations, are the key to success, especially for Organizations like ESI, which is a multi-dimensional social system, tailored to provide socio-economic protection to worker population and immediate dependents or family.  These issues have been addressed in a full-day Soft Skills Training Program, conducted by SDMIMD Mysore for ESI Officials, on September 26, 2015.
In this interactive program, significant topics, like Self-Confidence, Team Work, Motivation, Time Management, Communication Skills and Relationship Management have been discussed.  The Training Program was inaugurated by Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD.  Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, he addressed the participants and highlighted on the importance of Soft Skills training in all areas for effective delivery implementation of Programmes in Government, Private NGO’s and Educational Institutions.  The other officials present were Sri V. Dasu, Director – Training/South Zone, ZTI, ESIC, Sri R. Raju, Deputy Director, SRO, ESIC, Mysore and Sri C.V. Sridhar, Manager-Administration, SDMIMD, Mysore.
Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta, Professor and Chairman, RCMS SDMIMD, has been the Coordinator and Faculty Resource of the Program.  Dr. Mousumi Sengupta and Prof. S.N. Prasad were the other Faculty Members for the Program.  39 ESI Officials participated in this program.

‘India is a hotspot for startups. But one in every two startup shuts down within a year of its inception, because they lack customer perspective’ said Mr. Sid Mookerji, Global CEO and Co- Founder, Software Paradigms International Group LLP (SPI) in the Annual Leadership Talk delivered at the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) on September 10, 2015. Mr. Mookerji listed the keys to be a successful entrepreneur - clearly defined and easily articulated strategy,  a world class team to work with, and high personal qualities in the leader.
Mr. Mookerji briefly outlined the step-by-step way in which he has led SPI into a truly international and professional organization. The individual needs to have an out-of-box thinking that should be conveyed in an effective manner. A sense of ownership towards the mission of the company and being continuous learner with a sense of integrity. The talk was attended by a number of corporate executives and academics in and around Mysore, apart from the students and faculty of SDMIMD.

Rotary Datta Award to Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean (Academics)

On the eve of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan’s birthday being celebrated as Teachers Day on 5th September every year, Rotary Mysore has been honoring eminent teachers with ‘Rotary Datta Award’ from the past 16 years. For the year 2015, Rotary Mysore has presented ‘Rotary Datta Award’ to Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean (Academics) & Professor-Operations Management, SDMIMD, on Saturday, September 5, 2015 in a function held at Rotary Center, Mysuru. The Chief Guest, Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Founder & President, Swamy Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) & Rtn. H.S. Venkatesh, President, Rotary Mysore, along with the donors Rotarian Mr. Dinesh Babu and his family, presented the award, in the presence of office bearers, members of the center, and invitees.

SDMites emerged as Runners-up in SCM Event

Mr. Rohitaksh G.S., Mr. Paras Mainali and Mr. Bhavesh Sobhani, students of PGDM 2014-16 batch have won the runner up prize in the SCM MAESTRO – a national level Supply Chain Management (SCM) event organized by Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), Pune on the theme “Supply chain management and its importance in Make in India initiative”.
The event comprising of 2 rounds was designed to check the practical application of SCM concepts and their relevance in "Make in India" initiative. SDMites beat the teams from well-known colleges in the country like KJ Somaiya, IIM Indore, IIM Ranchi, Welingkar and SIIB

SDMites emerged as Runners-up in Case Study Competition

Mr. Sudhanshu Chauhan and Mr. Shivendra Gupta, students of the PGDM 2014-16 batch have won the Runner-up prize in Caso di Studio, a national level case study competition organized by Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), Pune. They competed with the teams from some of the well-known B-schools in the country like Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A); Indian Institute of Management, Kozikode (IIM-K); Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad; etc.

Visit of ACBSP President

Mr. Jeffrey Alderman, President & CEO, Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP) the Global Business Accreditation body, visited SDMIMD for interaction on Friday, August 28, 2015. The interactive session with faculty members & students, followed by the campus tour was part of the packed schedule for Mr. Jeffrey Alderman.  Speaking about ACBSP Mr. Jeffrey pointed out how the accreditation brings quality, equanimity and collaboration among B-Schools.  Further, he shared information about initiatives of accrediting bodies in enhancing the collaborative research. Dr. Rajesh Khajuria, Chairman, GTU's Global MBA Program and Director of SMJV's CKSVIM Business School, Vadodara, India, accompanied Mr. Jeffrey. 

CPBM for SkanRay Technologies

SDM IMD commenced the Certificate Program in Business Management (CPBM) for the employees of SkanRay Technologies Pvt. Ltd., on 31 August 2015. The Inaugural Session was held in the MDP Hall at 5.30 pm. Prof. Malathi Sriram, Chairperson – Academic Programs, welcomed the participants. 
Mr. Vishwaprasad Alva, Managing Director, SkanRay Technologies and Mr. Ravikumar, the Manager-HR at SkanRay Technologies were present on the occasion.  The Inaugural session was also graced by the Director SDMIMD, Dr. N.R Parasuraman, Deputy Director Dr. H Gayathri and other faculty members. 
Speaking in his welcome address Dr. N.R Parasuraman, emphasized on the amalgamation of the employee experience with the structured theoretical framework of the classroom would be a great learning for the participants. Mr. Vishwaprasad Alva stressed on the need for such programs for the mid-level executives that will enhance their contemporaneous industry knowledge.

4th batch of NCCMP Program

In terms of the arrangement which SDMIMD has with National Stock Exchange (NSE) a special training program - NSE Certified Capital Markets Professional (NCCMP) was organized for the finance students. The program aims to inculcate practical aspects of Capital Markets among students and preparing the young managers in the field of Equity Research, Merchant Banking, Portfolio Advisory, and allied areas. The program with an eclectic mix of theoretical and hands-on sessions is aimed at exposing participants to all the essential areas of study. 
As a part of this program students visited NSE Office, Chennai for hands on session on Financial Markets on August 27 & 28, 2015. The sessions were handled by Senior Officials of NSE. The sessions covered broad areas of Financial Markets such as basics of investments, new innovative financial instruments, trading and settlement in Futures and Options. A session on Investors Redressal and Grievances Forum was held wherein the students were taken through the functions of the forum and how arbitration works in the Capital Market. The following day the students were taken to a leading stock broking firm. The Assistant Vice President of the firm addressed the students on the various departments and their functions of a stock broking firm. The visit culminated with a session on nuances of stock market trading and live demonstration on online trading in stocks, currencies and commodities.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the NCCMP Charter that is much acclaimed by employers of the Financial Markets industry.
