MDP on “Finance for non-Finance Executives”

with a view to survive and grow steadily in domestic and international business. Non Finance Executives need to know the basic nuances of Finance and its Management. To cater information on this very important area, a short Management Development Program was conducted on 11th and 12th 2012 at SDMIMD. Dr Ullas Rao, Asst Professor – Finance coordinated the Program.

Workshop on e-Learning with MOODLE

SDMIMD conducted a two day workshop on E Learning with MOODLE Installation, Customization, Course and content upload, Online Quiz and Result Analysis, commencing May 4, 2012. Dr N.R. Parasuraman Director inaugurated with formal welcome and stressed upon need of eLearning. Dr. Sunil M.V, the workshop coordinator shared the design of this hands-on workshop. Prof. Malathi Sriram, Prof. M. Minhaj and Dr. Sunil M.V. were the resource persons of the workshop.

Faculty Development Program 2012

With a view to hone teaching skills and keep pace with changing trends in management education, SDMIMD started off with Faculty Development Program on May 10, 2012. The week long program scheduled from May 10 to 16 2012, attracted Faculty Members from number of Colleges within the State of Karnataka. Dr N.R. Parasuraman Director SDMIMD, while speaking on the occasion of inauguration said – “in order to keep up the learning interests of the students, faculty members need to continuously exercise innovations in teaching and demonstrate contemporary business cases. Students must get acquainted with analyzing techniques”.

Workshop on Statistical Analysis of Research Data

The Hands-on Workshop on “Statistical Analysis of Research Data” was held during February 8 & 9, 2012 at SDMIMD Mysore. Dr S Ravi from Department of Statistics, University of Mysore, inaugurated the workshop and delivered the Keynote address on “Significance of Statistics in Social Sciences”. Dr Ravi called on Researchers to give adequate importance while understanding a problem, defining objectives and connect themselves deeply with the dynamics of Society, while collecting the research data. Earlier, Dr N.R. Parasurman, Director of the Institute welcomed the participants. The researchers are expected to be benefited with a wide variety of advanced statistical techniques in Microsoft Excel and to move further by using freeware add-in. Prof. R. Amruthavalli, Faculty, Center for Information Science and Technology (CIST), University of Mysore, Mysore; Dr. J. Balaji, Professor - Quantitative Methods, SDMIMD, Mysore and Dr. Srilakshminarayana, Professor - Statistics, SDMIMD, Mysore were the resource persons. Mr. Sunil M.V., Librarian was the Coordinator.

Naissance

SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore, in association with Software Paradigms Infotech Pvt Ltd. (SPI) hosted a 3 day National level B-school fest at its premises. The annual fest, 'Naissance 2012' was held from 27th to 29th Jan, 2012. The event was attended by management students and industry leaders. The best of management talent duelled over the 3 day fest for top honors in events like Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations, Strategy among others. The team from XIME, Bangalore emerged as the overall champions of the event.

International Symposium on “Doing Business in India”

The symposium was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the luminaries on January 9, 2012 at SDMIMD Campus. The event was declared open by Prof. S. Prabhakar, Secretary, SDM Educational Trust. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of SDMIMD, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Sid Mookerji, CEO, Software Paradigm Infotech (SPI) in his keynote address highlighted three issues - the key factors that led to India's growth, Cultural differences between India and the West, and his own experience in ‘Doing Business in India’ through SPI. He also spoke of India's first rank as a country through the Global Services Location Index, through its high scores on people skills and availability. It was a proud moment to note that India ranks third on FDI confidence index, trailing only US and China. With various anecdotes and incidents lacing his speech, Mr. Mookerji kept the crowds enthralled.
