Guest talk by Dr.Thomas

Dr.Thomas, Chairman, Lead College of Management and Lead OBT, Palakkad, Kerala, delivered a guest lecture and spoke about outbound learning while recalling recollections of previous years' offline activities-based learning. Students learned about the value and benefits of outbound learning, as well as how it helps people work together, trust one other, and coordinate their efforts. Different sizes of rubix cubes were also introduced to educate indirectly how to adapt and alter when working in groups to get work done on a large scale. His Guinness World Records achievements motivated students and taught them not to be afraid of achieving anything. Overall it was a very insightful session.

75th Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day holds much importance in the lives of every Indian. On this day, we got freedom after a long struggle of thousands of freedom fighters and great leaders. With this spirit, SDMIMD celebrated the 75th Independence Day on August 15, 2021. Dr. Anand Sasikumar, Faculty, SDMIMD, hoisted the tricolor and addressed the gathering. 
 
In his address, Dr. Anand Sasikumar said Independence Day is a significant day to keep the spirit of patriotism alive and at the same time enjoy the spirit of freedom. India has shown phenomenal growth since its independence in various fields like science, technology, and agriculture. Now it is our turn to continue the legacy of achieving significant milestones in the next generations.
 
Students, staff, and faculty members participated in the celebration. 

Special talk on ‘With Freedom comes Responsibility’

On the 75th Independence Day occasion on August 15, 2021, the SDMIMD Toastmasters club organized a special meeting. The highlight of the meeting was a speech titled "With Freedom comes Responsibility" by the Deputy Director, Dr (Lt Col) S. N. Prasad, SDMIMD, which inspired the Toastmasters to be responsible. The meeting was attended by the club mentor Dr. Neetu Ganapathy, students of SDMIMD, and Toastmasters from other clubs.

Invited talk by Ms Supriya Salian

During the Orientation Program 2021, Ms Supriya Salian, Vice Chairman, CII, Mysore, and Plansee India High-Performance Materials Pvt.Ltd., delivered a talk on Preparing for the Corporate World: Lessons from Life to the PGDM 2021-2023 Batch on August 11, 2021.

Invited talk by Dr M.N. Bheemesh

A talk on Unleashing Creativity and Demystifying Intellectual Property Rights was delivered by Dr M.N. Bheemesh, Senior Advisor ALMT Legal, Advocates & Solicitors Bangalore, August 11, 2021. The talk organized as a part of the Orientation Program 2021 introduced the concept of IPR to the PGDM 2021-23 Batch. 

Invited talk by Mr Sanjay Srinivasamurthy

Mr Sanjay Srinivasmurthy, SDMIMD Alumnus and Co-Founder & Director of Silicon Road delivered The Journey of Being an Entrepreneur on August 11, 2021. The talk was organized as a part of the Orientation Program for PGDM 2021-23 Batch. 

Workshop on Imperatives in Social Responsibilities

The Workshop on Imperatives in Social Responsibilities was organized for the PGDM 2021-2023 Batch to sensitize the students about Social Responsibility. Prof. C.V. Sridhar, Assistant Professor - General Management, conducted the workshop on August 11 & 12, 2021.

Inauguration of Program for Overseas Students

SDMIMD launched a ‘Program on Developing Business Excellence (DBE) – With a Sense of Social Responsibility’ for overseas students to understand India’s business environment, consumer behaviour, cultural background, and corporate environment. The program aims to sensitize student from overseas who visit India for educational purpose about the ethics and social relevance of the Indian business environment.
 
The program was inaugurated for the first batch of 21 foreign national students at St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysore, Post graduate Centre on August 9, 2021. 
 
Inaugurating the program Director of SDMIMD Dr. N.R. Parasuraman said ‘The 20-hour program aims to give an overall exposure to diverse aspects Indian business environment. The program introduces culture, ethics, leadership, consumer behavior, social responsibility, corporate culture, and Indian family business. The course content is framed and offered by highly accomplished faculty members in the respective area.’
 
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Othber Pinto, Director, St. Philomena’s PG Centre said ‘It is a much-needed initiative by both SDMIMD and St. Philomena’s to sensitize the foreign students about India and its rich culture. Student’s will be receiving the Degrees in their domain but its our responsibility to enhance their knowledge about India and its inclusiveness in different dimensions’. 
 
Mr. Ronald Prakash Cutinha, Head of IQAC & Chief Librarian, St. Philomena’s said, ‘the initiative by SDMIMD and St. Philomena’s is to present our culture and values, with that spirit the program will help the foreign students know about India apart from the prescribed education’. 
 
Rector/Manager Rev. Fr. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis; the Principal Dr. Alphonsus D’Souza; faculty members, students and staff of St. Philomena’s College, Mysore; and faculty & staff members of SDMIMD, Mysore participated in this virtual event. 
 
Dr. Sunil M.V. Head – Academic Administration, SDMIMD Mysore and Ms. Rekha Ganapathy, Coordinator of the Program, were present.
