Talk on Development Banking Regulatory Issues

Mr. Pankil Sanghvi, Partner (Tax & Regulatory Services) at BDO India LLP, Bengaluru was an invited resource person to the one-day Pre-Conference Workshop on the theme “Development Banking and Inclusive Growth: Emerging Trends” held on November 14, 2019. He spoke on the topic – ‘Development Banks – Indian Policy and Regulatory Aspects: The Macro Economic Impact’.  overviewed and presented the audience with evolution of development banking in India, the core challenges the sector is facing, and the factors contributing to the shutdown of development banks. Reforms and liberalisation starting from 1991 was the key for growth of development banking, said Mr. Pankil. He emphasized the role played by Government in choosing development banks to reconstruct India economically after independence. He also deliberated that Development banks channel money from people to project as a coordinator and hence ought not to make any profits from it themselves.

Blood Donation Camp 2019

"The blood you donate gives someone another chance at life" thus said Mr C.V. Sridhar, Manager Administration, SDMIMD, inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp 2019 on Friday, November 8, 2019. In his address said 'SDMites are always seen coming forward with great enthusiasm, to address social issues whenever situations call for the same'. The event was a reinforcement of the principles for which SDMIMD stands and the social responsibility attitude demonstrated by the students. The camp was organized by SDMIMD in collaboration with HDFC Bank with the medical support from Jeevadhara Blood Bank, a unit of Cauvery Social Services Trust, Mysore. Faculty, Staff members and students participated in the camp. 

SDMIMD Featured in Times Now PathFinder

Times Now telecasted a special feature about SDMIMD in the PathFinder series on Saturday, October 19, 2019. The program focused on SDMIMD’s 25 Years journey in management education and included interview with Chairman Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala and discussions with our key functionaries. 

Exchange Program Visit to BUiD, Dubai by Prof. Gandhi

Prof. L. Gandhi, Faculty – OB/HR, SDMIMD, visited British University in Dubai (BUiD), Dubai during October 21 to 23, 2019 on a Faculty Exchange Program (FEP). Prof. Gandhi conducted the sessions for MBA Program in the University. Students of the program are the working executives who are pursuing their MBA from BUiD. The sessions focused on Organization Behaviour (OB) covering the global scenario. Several case studies and situations from Indian scenario were introduced to the students. 

2-Day Workshop by Kennesaw State University professor

Dr. Sheb True, Professor of Marketing, Interim Director – MBA Programs, Coles Colleges of Business, Kennesaw State University, Atlanta, United States, conducted 2-Day workshop on ‘Strategic Positioning and Leadership’ on October 18 &19, 2019 at SDMIMD. The workshop was organized for the focused group of PGDM 2019-21 Batch marketing specialization students.

Marketing Conference 2019

SDMIMD organized 2nd International Conference on Marketing on Friday, October 18, 2019 on the theme Value Driven Marketing. 
 
Dr. Sheb True, Professor of Marketing, Interim Director – MBA Programs, Coles Colleges of Business, Kennesaw State University, Atlanta, United States, inaugurated the conference and delivered the keynote address. Dr. Sheb True said “Studying or teaching a popular course is right, but everybody will be learning the same. So, what is the differentiator? How we change what we do? Should be the focus of the institutions or university”. The address introduced various studies on the keynote topic and the speaker shared the resources for further readying. He also focused on relooking at the value created by business education and how business education is changing globally.
 
Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director and Professor – Marketing, SDMIMD who also spoke on the occasion said when marketing has shifted from product driven to customer driven, the discussion and deliberation on the ‘value driven’ is more appropriate as value driven is oriented for customer in a value chain.
 
Dr. Jayakrishnan, Conference Chair presented the theme of the conference and said over the years marketing moved from product centric era to human centric era. “Marketers need to identify, understand the anxieties and desires of the consumers to fulfil their needs. The Triple Bottom Line Concept is being embraced by several firms bringing together – economic value, environmental health and social progress. In the current changing market environment, the objective of ‘International Conference on Marketing’ is to provide a platform for the industry, marketing practitioners and academia to share their knowledge and experiences of marketing in the value driven marketing” he added.
 
The conference attracted more than 43 research papers on the conference theme and the papers were presented during the track sessions. Mr. Aditya Singh, Head – Jewellery International Business, Titan Company Limited; was part of the technical sessions of the conference. Valedictory speech was delivered by Mr. Nagachethan S.M, Senior Vice President & Product Head, Chaitanya (CRIDS).
 

SDMIMD bags Dasara Flower Show Prize

SDMIMD is proud of its picturesque campus and green courtyards with verdant environs. The garden known for its landscape, decorative plants and fruit garden has won Five first prizes in the categories:- Ornamental - Outdoor plants, Lawns, indoor plants, Fruit garden and amphitheatre. Also, it has won Best ornamental garden Prize in the recently held Dasara flower competition organised by Department of Horticulture, Govt of Karnataka.  
 
Over the years, the SDMIMD campus garden has received great appreciation from the visitors and consistently for 9 successive years garden has won the award during Dasara Flower Show Competition.

Abhigyaan 2019

SDMIMD organised the annual flagship event for Undergraduates - Abhigyaan ’19, on October 10 & 11, 2019 at its campus. The two-day fest was inaugurated by Dr N. R Parasuraman, the Director of SDMIMD.  More than 400 students from colleges across Karnataka participated in various events such as Best Manager, Best Entrepreneur, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, B-Quiz, Photography, Mad Ads, Treasure Hunt and Street Play. The sports event was introduced in this year’s fest and a cricket match was organized. The inaugural day culminated with vibrant cultural competitions such as Singing, Dancing and Fashion Show. 
 
The Day-2 of Abhigyaan 2019 commenced with the final rounds of the management events. Abhigyaan was a wonderful platform for the students to showcase their managerial skills and talents. SDM College of Business Management, Mangalore emerged as the overall champions of Abhigyaan’ 2019. The event was organized and coordinated by the Samprati Committee of SDMIMD.
