NIRF 2018 Survey Ranks SDMIMD among Top 100

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has ranked SDMIMD among the Top 100 Management Institutes in the Country in its India Rankings 2018 of higher education institutions. The overall ranking list by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) included 4000 institutes across the country in different disciplines. The survey aimed at promoting Research and Development in Higher Education, and ‘Research and Professional Practices’ has been given the highest weightage of 40%, in the current ranking. 

SDMIMD listed in Asia Inc Top 100

Asia Inc's B-School ranking known for its multidimensional analysis of institute performance has listed SDMIMD in 42 Place in the recently published Top 100 Indian B-school listing for the year 2018 -19.

Annual Leadership Talk 2018

 
 
The 10th edition of Annual Leadership Talk (ALT) was delivered by Dr Stefan Wilms, Dean of the faculty of Economics and Transport, Heilbronn University, Germany, on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in SDMIMD Auditorium. Dr. Stefan Wilms with his immense experience and exposure with various executive positions at the publishing group Georg von Holtzbrinck, shared the leadership skills in the academic environment. 
 
Dr Stefan Wilms gave a brief description of Germany, its geography & politics; and introduced the innovative programs in leadership skills at Heilbronn University. The major portion of his lecture was on the different leadership styles giving the anecdotes from is his personal experiences in the area of leadership as he has held various executive position in the past.
 
Dr. Stefan Wilms shared his experience in setting up of ‘Business and Transport’ unit at the university which has given opportunity for the students to work in a variety of industries and functions. Dr. Wilms presented the innovative methods in teaching business studies and trade, which has greatly contributed to the Faculty of Business and Transport in preparing students for the changing and increasing demands of the labor market.
 
The talk concluded with insights about leadership styles in academic environment. This was followed by Q & A session. The program coordinator Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director and Professor - Marketing; Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of the Institute; Faculty members, students, corporates from Mysore and invites were present.

Startup Charcha 2018

 
SDMIMD organised the annual entrepreneurship event called STARTUP CHARCHA on February 9, 2018.This event, organised for the third straight year, is part of various entrepreneurship activities undertaken by ‘Swayam – Students E Cell of SDMIMD’. The event also brought together the best entrepreneurial minds who provided insights tempered with practical advice on startups to MBA students and budding entrepreneurs at SDMIMD. Outlining the various activities of Swayam, Dr M R Suresh, Professor, SDMIMD and facilitator of the cell, highlighted that SDMIMD is well on the pathway to emerge as knowledge resource centre in the area of entrepreneurship to guide not only budding entrepreneurs but also other institutions as well.
 
This year, the  STARTUP Charcha event had Mr Ajith R. Pai, Jt. Managing Director, VWF Group of Industries - Mysore, who delivered the Keynote address.. During his address Mr. Ajith R Pai said that the most important aspect was not having an idea but the execution of it. Advising MBA students, he said, “entrepreneurs are those who start working on their ideas and wantrepreneurs are those who just have an idea”. He also talked about the reasons why most of the businesses did not last for more than three generations and the importance of exiting an outmoded enterprise. “Innovation and creativity are the key points for any business”, he stated. 
 
Further, there was a Panel Discussion on the theme ‘Getting Started in Enterprise - Issues and Facets’, moderated by Dr M R Suresh, Professor at SDMIMD. The distinguished panellists were Mr. Vipin Prasad, Founder, Joiningdotsinc.com and SDMIMD Alumnus; Mr Sanjay Srinivasamurthy, Management Consultant and Strategic Advisor; and Prof Rajendra Todalbagi, SDMIMD. The discussion highlighted that the policy environment was very favourable in the country for startups with our Prime Minister himself perceiving startups as instruments of transformation. There was a student case study presentation event Prerana in which four teams profiled successful entrepreneurs in different fields.

Budget Conclave 2018

 
SDMIMD in association with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) jointly organized the Union Budget Conclave-2018 (Post Budget Analysis) at its campus on February 2, 2018. Dr. M. Sriram, Assistant Professor- Finance, SDMIMD welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance and constituents of a budget from a common man’s perspective.  Mr. Arjun Ranga, Chairman, CII Mysore Chapter, highlighted the key aspects of the budget and was of the view that a lot of impetus was given to Agriculture, Healthcare, Education and rural development. According to him, the key to implementation of the schemes will determine the effectiveness of the policies. The students of SDMIMD made a brief presentation on the key highlights of economic survey and the Union Budget 2018. The knowledge partner for the conclave was BDO India LLP, Bengaluru. The representatives of the knowledge partner discussed on the various implications of the announcements of the budget in respect of taxation.
 
Mr. Pankil Sanghvi, Partner-Tax and Regulatory Services, BDO India addressed the gathering on direct taxes and how the announcements will have a bearing on individuals and corporates. Mr. Sreedharan, Manager, BDO India briefed about the indirect tax reforms and how the scope of ‘re-assessment’ widened. He also gave an overview about the modification to adjudication procedure. The conclave concluded with a panel discussion in the form of question and answer session. The panellists included Mr. Arjun Ranga, Chairman, CII Mysuru, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, Mr. Pankaj Sanghvi and Mr. Sreedharan, representatives of BDO India LLP. 

2-Day Workshop for Institutional Heads

 
SDMIMD joined hands with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Southern Regionin organizing the workshop for institutional heads and chairpersons on the theme 'Restructuring and Redesigning of Higher Education Programs in India' during January 24 & 25, 2018 at SDMIMD Mysore. 
 
The Workshop was intended to address the industry needs in terms of Knowledge, Skills and Aptitude being developed among the B School students through inputs in the MBA/PGDM curriculum and to discuss the challenges faced in the form of changing business environment, demographic changes in the environment, the issue of 'dynamic business  vs static education'. The inaugural Welcome Addess was delivered by Mr Arjun Ranga, MD, N Ranga Rao and Sons and Chairman of CII Mysore Chapter. The Keynote Address was delivered by Prof Joe Philip, Chairman- XIME Group of Institutions and the Special Address was delivered by Prof Prasad SN, SDMIMD.  The sessions were chaired by Dr S Balasubramaniam, Director GRG Group of Institutions, Coimbatore. Several eminent educationists and corporate heads conducted the technical sessions.
 
The program was attended by 62 delegates from various colleges and universities across South India. 

Talk by TedEx Speaker

SDMIMD in collaboration with CII’s Young Indian’s (Mysore Chapter) organized talk by Mr. Hitesh Ramchandani, a Para Olympian, Author and TedEx speaker on January 19, 2018 at SDMIMD Auditorium. 
 
Mr. Hitesh Ramchandani, a Global Icon, Author, Paralympian and a TEDx speaker, unfortunately born with Cerebral Palsy, addressed the students on living a better life by having a positive attitude, altering one’s habits, achieving goals and dreaming beyond. The event was attended by 250+ students from various colleges signed with Young Indians YUVA. The session also had achievers from Mysore who are excelling in different fields. Mr Utsav Agarwal founder Yi Mysore and director of Bhoruka Fabcons shared his experience on being ‘Champions of Change’ conducted by our PM Narendra Modi. Mr Abhijith Ravindra, founder of RE3 command fitness spoke to students about fitness and its importance in one's life. Ekalavya Awardee Shri Vijayan Gurukkal was honoured and later his team performed Kalaripayyattu the ancient master of martial arts.  

MINT and MBA Universe lists SDMIMD among Top 50 B-Schools

SDMIMD has been ranked 41st in the MBA Universe B-School Survey 2018. The survey conducted jointly by MINT & MBA Universe.com, ranked the Best MBA colleges and PGDM B-schools in India on objective and transparent parameters. The academic rigour and the quality of student intake with the infrastructure facilities have made SDMIMD ranked among the Top 50 B-Schools in the survey.
 
Commenting on the MBA Universe Survey 2018 ranking, SDMIMD Director Dr. N.R. Parasuraman said “I am happy to see that our Institute has retained its position among the Top 50 B-Schools in the country this year too. Well, with the quality of our faculty, staff and students, and the state-of-the-art infrastructure, we certainly deserve to be among the best.” He believes that SDMIMD has immense potential to excel and improve the ranking in future.
