Workshop on CSR by Dr. Evelyne Gross

Dr. Evelyn Gross from the - Burgundy School of Business, France  conducted  a workshop on ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ on December 21 & 22, 2017 at SDMIMD. The workshop discussed about various ways of imbibing  corporate social responsibility. The speaker presented the CSR activities happening in various nations. Dr. Evelyn Gross discussed real-time examples of various kinds of scenarios from France. The workshop was very impactful and gave a new way of thinking about CSR. 

Workshop on MORO by Dr. Fabrice Galia

Dr. Fabrice Galia conducted a Workshop on Management of Responsible Organizations (MORO) for the II year students on December 21 & 22, 2017. The workshop demonstrated the strategies, innovation and kind of management. Dr. Galia spoke about how to be acquainted with, to understand and to be capable of explaining the behaviour of individuals and groups within an organization and also on how to understand the principal dimensions of the analysis of the organization.

PM Shri. Narendra Modi visits Dharmasthala

Visit of Shri. Narendra Modi, Honorable Prime Minister of India, to Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala the Trust Office of SDMIMD and the meeting with the Chairman of SDMIMD Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade. 
 
Shri. Modi distributed the 'RuPay' card to the beneficiary of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) the Micro-Finance Project, to begin cashless digital transactions.

International Student Exchange Program 2017

Pursuant to the international exchange agreements with overseas universities, students from PGDM 2017-19 Batch of SDMIMD will be going abroad to spend a term there.
 
  • Mayur G. Raj, Yogitha Bhat, Riju Mittal and Chandana S, will be attending the program at Mays School of Business, Texas A&M University, USA. 
  • Kaveramma K.U., Swathi Prasad, Vivek Aradhya S.U., and Varsha Bheemaiah, are attending University of Bordeaux, France.
  • Anisha Ronita Raj, Navaneeth Ballal N,  Nayantara Dorothy D'Souza  & Nitin E will be attending one-term program at University of Pau, France.
  • Ramkrishna Patil, Samiksha Patel & Monisha K M will be attending the debut exchange program at Heilbronn University, Germany.

International HR Conference focus on Macro Talent Management

 
Macro Talent Management (MTM) was among the prominent themes discussed during the 6th International Conference on “Managing Human Resources at the workplace” on December 8 & 9, 2017 held at SDMIMD. 
 
Dr Ashly Pinnington Dean-Research British University in Dubai who delivered the  keynote address for the conference said ‘Macro Talent Management (MTM) involves intervention of expertise from Government and HR Professionals from Global arena, with a view to strengthen Talent.  MTM is a paradigm shift from Traditional Talent Management where the latter is restricted to Organizational level only.  MTM, also offers wide opportunities for Research activities.’ 
 
The Conference witnessed high quality deliberations and the several among the 150 odd papers presented covered diverse topics on the practical side of HR.  The papers were from countries, such as Poland, Kuwait, Bahrain, Nigeria, Indonesia, and India.

Manjunatha, Head – Technical Training, Larsen & Toubro Limited, Mysuru; Mr. B G V Kiran Kumar, Consultant, Confluence Consulting Circle, Mysuru; Mr. Pavan Kumar, Senior HR Business Partner, Wipro Ltd.; Dr. Madhumita Chatterji, Formerly CEO and Board Member of Ants Consulting and Services Bengaluru; Ms. Anitha Aiyappa, HR Head, Theorem India Pvt Ltd, Mysuru; Dr. Teresa Kupczyk, Professor, University of Business in Wroclaw, Poland; Ms. Geetha Parameswaran, Senior HR Business Partner, SAP Labs India, Bengaluru; Ms. Vismaya MN, Senior Digital Planning Manager at Brave New World Communications Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru; Dr. Joanna Kubicka, Professor, University of Business in Wroclaw, Poland, participated in the panels.
 
On the second day, Dr. Guru Prasad, Former VP and Global Head – L &D, TCS BPO, Bengaluru; and, Mr. Praveen Kamath, General Manager & HR Head - Technology Practice Units at Wipro Limited delivered the invited talk. 
 
Mr. Prasad Iyengar, Program Director-Talent Acquisition, Mindtree Ltd., Bengaluru, delivered the valedictory address held on December 9, 2017. 

Pre-Conference HR Workshop

The 6th Edition of International Conference on “Managing Human Resources at the workplace” organized Pre-Conference HR Workshop on ‘Managing today’s employees: Issues and concerns’ on December 7, 2017. The workshop focused on  contemporary topics, such as, work-life balance, talent retention, and psychological contract. Dr. Ahsley Pinningon, Dean -Research, BUiD; Mr.  Shama Sundar, CEO & President Paajaka Consultancy Service; Mr. Dwarakanath, Principal Advisor, National Education Foundation (NEF), Washington D.C.; and Mr.  Prem Kamble, Trainer and Management consultant; are the resource persons. More than 40 Research scholars, academicians and HR professionals, participated in the workshop. 

Vittaksh’17 on Economic Reforms

The SDMites Finance Club – Finnacle organized the annual club event Vittaksh on December 4, 2017. This year the event was focused on the theme “Economic Reforms: Snakes or Ladders”. An online quiz conducted on November 24, 2017 shortlisted 12 team out of 107 team participated, for finale held at SDMIMD campus. B-schools like SIBM Bangalore, XIME Bangalore, Christ University, ICFAI Bangalore, NIMMS Bangalore, SIMSREE Mumbai etc., participated in the final round. 
 
Inaugurating the event the Director of SDMIMD Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, shared the latest trends in the field of finance and management and gave insights on what is expected from B-school graduates by the industry. Dr. M. Sriram, Professor - Finance and the mentor of the Finnacle Club, presented the theme of Vittaksh 17 and explained how a healthy competition is assessed. The competition saw in total 3 rounds which included rounds on Derivatives, Economic reforms and Private placements that made the participants to be on their toes to be crowned as the Ultimate Financier. 
 
Team “Mavericks” Comprised of Mr. Zahid M. Jamal and Miss Simranjeet Kaur from SIBM, Bengaluru bagged the first prize with a cash amount of Rs 20,000 and Team “Vanquishers”, comprising Miss, Makshi Misri and Miss Urvashi Jeswani, from (Sir, I will get the information) emerged as the runners-up who claimed a cash prize worth Rs 15,000.
