Workshop on ‘Power of Self’ to SDMites

John Anster says ‘What you can do, or dream you can, begin it; Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!’ Our future may not be entirely within our control, but most of what we become is within our power to create. To understand this it requires a self-directed learning process, a clear roadmap and guidance on how to increase the effectiveness of change within you. To introduce the students about the hidden power within them a series of workshop on the theme ‘The Power of Self’ was organized for the batch of PGDM 2016-18 during July 2017 by Dr. H. Gayathri, Dean Academics and Professor – Marketing.

Counselling Workshop

Management education at SDMIMD ensures that students are up to the challenge of a volatile global market and be creative. Students are pushed to explore new ways of thinking and approaching business problems to bring their best ideas to the surface. To equip to these challenges a series of Counselling Workshop was conducted during June & July 2017 to the new batch (2017-19) of PGDM program. This year, Ms. Ruchika G. Naidu was the Counsellor and Program Designer for the said workshop.

Visit to Dharmasthala by PGDM 2017-19 Batch

‘Take the pressure as pleasure. You will not feel it but enjoy it. Who hasn't pressure in this world? I too have pressure but I take it as pleasure which tests my capability to come up, not to give up. The pressure which is given by your teachers is to make you moulded and to prepare you to face the challenges in your profession. You have to take it as an opportunity to prove yourself’ thus said Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala and Chairman, SDMIMD, for the question ‘How to handle pressure and depression?’ during the interaction with the new batch of PGDM 2017-19 students. Dr. Heggade suggested the students to do yoga regularly, pranayama for few minutes and an hour of meditation, to come out of any level of depression.

The two-day trip for the young managers was packed with visits to Shanthivana, Ratnamanasa, Bahubali Hill, Vintage Car Museum, Manjusha Museum and Dharshan of Lord Manjunatheshwara, the main deity of Dharmasthala. Students enjoyed the traditional hospitality and food in Dharmasthala. The students were introduced to the administration and management of various activities of pilgrimage place and social upliftment programs during the trip.

Commencement of Sports Management Course

On July 5, 2017, a special function was held to mark the launch of the 11 Months Post Graduate Diploma in Sports management. The course is run by Center for Sports & Management Studies (CS&MS) with SDMIMD as the academic partners. Prof. Sheshanna, Former Professor, Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore, Mysuru, delivered a special address on the occasion.

Earlier, Dr. H. Gayathri, Program Director and Deputy Director of the Institute, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Gayathri presented the need of Sports Management Courses to bring the professionalism in sports management.

Mr. Arijit Ghosh, Founder of Center for Sports and Management Studies (CS&MS) and faculty of the course, narrated the journey in launch of Sports Management Courses in collaboration with SDMIMD as academic partner. Mr. Ghosh called upon the young sports managers of the first batch of PGDSM to make best use of the opportunity to study in one among the top institutions in India.

Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean Academics & Professor - Operations, SDMIMD, introduced the opportunities in sports management as service, administration, management and execution support in sport industry. Highlighting the success stories in sports, Dr. Jagadeesh presented the opportunities in research and learning in sports discipline.

Italy Conference

The International Conference on Management & Behavioural Sciences (IC17Italy Conference), was organized at Rome, Italy, 1-3 July 2017 jointly by SDMIMD, Mysore and Global Business Research. The theme of the conference ‘Getting the Right People on the Job’ attracted academic and corporate nominations across the globe.

Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta, SDMIMD, Mysuru, has delivered the special felicitation address on “Choosing the Right People on the Job”. Dr. Mousumi, SDMIMD, Mysuru, was the expert in the Panel discussion on “Innovative Instructional Strategies - Emerging trends!” Both the faculty members also presented a joint paper on “Managing stress at workplace: A study on nurses in private hospitals in Mysore and Bangalore”.

Chairman Dr. Heggade receives SDMIMD's ACBSP Accreditation Certificate


Honorable Chairman of SDMIMD Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade received the Accreditation Certificate from Dr. Steve Parscale, Chief Accreditation Officer and Dr. Ray Eldridge, Chairman of Board of Commissioners, ACBSP, on June 26, 2017 at Anaheim, US. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of the institute joined Dr. Heggade for the award ceremony.
SDMIMD received the accreditation from Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), USA for their flagship management programme – Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). SDMIMD is the first and only B School in India to get dual accreditation from European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and ACBSP. These Accreditations help students to learn from an environment that meets global quality standards and international orientation. With the accreditations, SDMIMD had become a part of Global Education Network with ACBSP accredited campuses across the globe. The accreditation provides SDMIMD with access to exchange programs, research programs and cultural enrichment with other member institutions.

EFMD Awards EPAS Accreditation to SDMIMD's PGDM


At a special event during the EFMD Annual Conference of 2017 held at Berlin, SDMIMD was awarded the EPAS accreditation. The formal certificate was handed over by the Director General and CEO of EFMD to Shri. D. Surendra Kumar, Vice President of SDMIMD and Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of SDMIMD.

SDMIMD JoM gets UGC Approval
