‘Crystallize your thoughts’ – Praveen Kamath of Wipro BPO

Mr. Praveen Kamath, General Manager & Global Head- Talent Transformation, Wipro BPO, Bangalore, conducted a workshop for the new batch of PGDM 2014-16 students on June 21, 2014. Mr. Kamath called upon the future young managers ‘to be the best and to be brutal in competition  and to be winners all the way’. He said ‘viewing things in multiple angles and crystallizing thoughts will help to face the competitive world and develop the ability to manage risk’. Speaking on placement preparation activities he advised SDMites to get equipped with the thorough basic knowledge of all key subjects and to develop the ability to present these to groups; and how these can make a big difference at their workplace.The workshop was organized as a part of the week long induction program for the new batch.

Alumnus on Campus – N Chandan of Harita Fehrer Ltd.

As a part of the orientation lectures for the new batch of first year students, Mr. N. Chandan an alumnus of the PGDM batch 2004-06 who is presently working as Sr. Manager – Business Planning, Harita Fehrer Limited delivered a talk outlining his experiences he had in his first project which concerned the solutions in the supply chain of the client he worked for. He candidly answered questions from the new PGDM 2014-16 batch students and at the same time dwelled upon the expectations the corporate has from a B-School new bees in terms of understanding and gauging customer expectations.

Talk on PR and Communication in Branding

‘Recent technology advancement and communication technology has made the corporate to rethink about the importance of PR in shaping and influencing the perception of brands within the market and how that perception can influence everything from attracting new talent to securing new customers’ according to Ms. Sujata Rajpal, Head-Corporate Communication & PR of Software Paradigm International (SPI), Mysore. Mr. Sujata was delivering the talk on the topic PR Attributes and Challenges which highlighted the importance of branding and communication in PR. 

Talk on ‘Quantitative Techniques in Management’

‘Quantitative techniques help decision makers solve many of the business and industrial problems.  In other words, quantitative techniques provide decision makers with systematic and powerful means of analysis of the situation for achieving predetermined goals or for drawing valid conclusions’ thus opined Former Professor of Statistics Prof. Bhat Marakini. Prof. Bhat was invited to address the new batch of PGDM 2014-16 on the topic ‘Quantitative Techniques in Management’ on June 20, 2014. 

Talk by Ms. Preethy Unnikrishnan

‘Innovations and technology breakthroughs of the future are more likely to emerge out of convergence of different disciplines and it is essential that students of management adopt a multi-disciplinary approach’ thus opined Ms. Preethy Unnikrishnan, Head-Campus Recruitment, TCS, Chennai. Ms. Preethy was delivering the talk to the new batch of PGDM 2014-16 on June 19, 2014.

Guest lecture by Dr.R.Indira

Dr. R. Indira, Professor (Retd.), Department of Sociology, University of Mysore, Mysore, called upon the new batch of PGDM 2014-16 to be sensitive to social realities. The talk was organized as a part of week-long induction program for the new batch. Dr. Indira stressed on the specific problems of women, rural population and challenges in primary education.

Talk by Klueber Operations Head – Mr. R C Jagadesh

Mr. R.C. Jagadesh, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII)-Mysore Zone and Director- Operations and Technology, Kluber Lubrication India Pvt. Ltd, addressed the new batch of PGDM 2014-16 on June 19, 2014. In his address, Mr. Jagadesh stressed ‘This world has become one family of nations. So my message is that you must be a global citizen, having a global vision’

Attributes for success from Mr. K. Sriram

Mr. K. Sriram, Enclaves Infrastructure, Mysore, in his talk organized as a part of weeklong induction program for the new batch of PGDM 2014-16 on June 18, 2014 outlined the general attributes that youngsters must develop to succeed in the face of challenges.
