MDP on Corporate Finance

The 2-Day MDP on 'Corporate Finance - A Primer' was organized on July 17 & 18, 2020, through online mode. The program exposed the participants to the various facets of financing decision and the process of linking financial decisions with maximising shareholders value. Further, the importance of time value of money in corporate financial decisions and the tools used in corporate finance decisions were introduced through a hands-on session. 
 
The faculty resources from the Finance area from the Institute - Dr M. Sriram, Associate Professor and Prof S. Kannadas, Assistant Professor; delivered the sessions. Dr N.R. Parasuraman, Director & Professor, delivered the concluding remarks and gave an overview of the role of Finance in decision-making.   

MDP on Gaining Consumer Insight for Effective Marketing Strategy

SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) organised one-day Management Development Program (MDP) on 'Gaining consumer insight for effective marketing strategy' on July 10, 2020. 
 
The Online MDP attracted participants from both industry and institutions. The program covered the importance of consumer insights and its different applications for developing an effective market strategy. 
 
The faculty resource of the program Dr S. Jayakrishnan, Assistant Professor - Marketing, SDMIMD, Mysuru, with some simple research approaches and relevant case studies helped the participants to gain hands-on experience about different methods for gaining consumer insights which will help them to redefine their marketing approach. 

Training Program on Business Perspective of PPP

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) in association with Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Mysuru, organized 2-Day Training Program on 'Business Perspectives of PPP (Public-Private Partnership)' during July 9 & 10, 2020. 
 
The online training program was attended by more than 70 participants including academicians, government officials from various departments, professionals involved in PPP. 
 
The sessions covering the concepts of PPP, legal aspects, case studies, project execution and risk management were delivered by Mr. Chethan V., Faculty and Consultant  - PPP Cell, ATI Mysuru;  Mr. Renukaprasad, Joint Secretary (Retd.), Infrastructure Development Department  (IDD); Dr. Prakash Kulkarni, President, Bhagirath Foundation; and Mr. Nirajnan Naik, National Sales Head – Energy and Building Solutions, Bosch India Ltd. 
 
The program was organized as part of the MoU between SDMIMD and ATI for academic, research and training activities in the area of PPP and other areas focused on social development. Mr. Chethan V from ATI, Mysuru and Dr. Sunil M.V. from SDMIMD, Mysuru, coordinated the online training program. 

MDP on MS Excel For Effective Decision Making

The online MDP on 'MS Excel for Effective Decision Making' was scheduled on Thursday, July 2, 2020. The program commenced with the introduction to the worksheet structure and working with data; further, it led to the Formatting of Data, Mathematical Functions, Logical Functions, and Sensitivity Analysis. 
 
The hands-on program delivered through various data sets helped the participants from industry and academia in exploring MS Excel in an effective manner. 
 
Prof. Anand Sasikumar, Faculty - Operations, SDMIMD, Mysuru, was the Faculty Resource for the program.

MDP on Finance for Non-Finance Professionals

A one-day Management Development Program (MDP) was organized for the employees of Wuerth Electronik India Private Limited, Mysuru on October 5, 2019. The MDP was a customised program designed to the requirements of the Company. Understanding financial reports, analysis, interpretation of financial reports, cost management for decision making, time value of money and its application in business decisions, were the topics scheduled for this company-specific program. The pedagogy included lectures, case studies and hands on session in the computer lab. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Dr. M. Sriram and Prof. S. Kannadas were the knowledge facilitators for this focused executive program. The MDP was coordinated by Dr. M. Sriram, Assistant Professor-Finance, SDMIMD.

MDP on Six Thinking Hats and Management Games for Employee Excellence

 
On 29th June 2019, SDMIMD organized a Management Development Program on ‘MDP on Six Thinking Hats and Management Games for Employee Excellence’. The program was aimed at providing insights on the nature and importance of Gamification and six thinking hats, conducting a sample of games & provide interpretations on the benefits of those games, sharing some popular corporate/management stories and providing tips to construct effective live stories.  
 
Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Professor (Operations) inaugurated the program. Dr. M.V. Sunil, Program Coordinator and faculty members were present in the program. Prof. L Gandhi, and Dr.(Lt Col) Prasad SN, Faculty Resource Persons in their interactive sessions with the participants, provided insights on 6 Thinking hats and its application in decision making, Selected management games and interpretations, Power of storytelling, Gamification and Story Telling as interventional strategies and Motivational mechanisms. The program enlightened the participants on effective utilization of Six thinking hats and its application on the organizational decision making. The program was attended by middle level executives, faculty members and trainers from leading corporates and institutes.

MDP on Managing Difficult Customers

A one-day Management Development Program (MDP) on 'Managing Difficult Customers' was held on June 21, 2019, at SDMIMD, Mysore. The program was designed for executives and managers who manage customers and academicians in the area of marketing.

The resource persons were Dr Mousumi Sengupta, Professor of Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management and Dr Sugant, Professor - Marketing. The sessions were planned to discuss the tools such as emotional intelligence in dealing with the customers, steps involved in complaint handling, relationship management, customer value and tools & strategies for service recovery. The sessions were driven through activities and exercises.

Earlier, Dr H. Gayathri, Deputy Director & Professor-Marketing, SDMIMD, inaugurated the program and opined that 'Customer is always right' and social media plays important role in reaching the customer and managing them. Dr Sunil MV, Coordinator, introduced the resource persons and presented the theme of the programme. 

MDP on Team Building and Conflict Management Strategies

On 15th June 2019, SDMIMD organized a Management Development Program on ‘Team Building and Conflict Management Strategies’ at SDMIMD, Mysore. The program was aimed at sensitizing the participants to the growing importance of teamwork and conflict management for organizational excellence.

Prof. L Gandhi, and Dr Mousumi Sengupta, Program Resource Persons and Faculty Members in the area of OB &HR, SDMIMD, in their interactive sessions with the participants, provided insights on the different personality determinants based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. In addition, the significance and the different approaches to Team Building were incorporated through team building activities. The resource persons discussed cases pertaining to organizational conflicts in the corporate world, need to be aware of the different types of conflicts in teams and strategies to resolve the same were elucidated. The program enlightened the participants on creating effective teams and efficient resolution of conflicts, which will be a significant value addition to the overall organizational success.   

The program was attended by 22 lower and middle-level executives from leading corporates.  Dr Sunil M.V., Program Coordinator and faculty members were present in the program.
