Ms. Preethy Unnikrishnan, Head, Human Resources – Strategic Growth Business, Tata Consultancy Services, delivered talk on “Adapting to new normal” to PGDM & PGCM Students of 2020 Batch on October 10, 2020. She elaborated the challenges TCS faced in onboarding 40,000 employees virtually and how TCS successfully overcame the challenge by using technology and human-centric approach. The speaker discussed about the challenges in transitioning 3 lakh+ workforce to work from home and ensuring the employees stay safe and motivated. The way TCS went about adapting “Secure Borderless Workspace” by ensuring employee safety and data security is a lesson on how to convert the crisis into opportunity. 

Webinar on Impact of COVID-19 on Consumer Behaviour

A webinar on the topic ‘Impact of COVID-19 on Consumer Behaviour’ was delivered by Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director & Professor – Marketing, SDMIMD, on July 23, 2020. The webinar organized for the PGDM 2020-2022 Batch introduced was an eyeopener session, sharing a few interesting perspectives from the – Life Simplifiers Consumers, who want to eat less and buy less; Degrowth Activists, feel that too much time and effort are going into consuming; Climate Activists, who worry about the harm and risk that consumers are causing to the planet; Food Choosers, who people who have turned into vegetarians and vegans; and, Conservation Activists, who request not to destroy existing goods but to reuse, repair. 

Webinar by Mr. Asif K.A, Our Alumni

Mr Asif K.A., Second Vice-President, Northern Trust; and alumnus of SDMIMD’s PGDM 2007-09 Batch, was the speaker for the Webinar on topic ‘The New Normal - Making Sense in The VUCA World’ scheduled on July 18, 2020. The session covered different component of VUCA (Vision, Understanding, Clarity, Agility) and how Northern Trust has successfully managed with VUCA 2.0. Mr Asif emphasised the importance of “Agility” for organisations & individuals; and, explained the ‘Learning Agility Framework’. 

Webinar on Stress Management

‘Stress Management’ the focused topic in the corporate and academic domain in this pandemic situation. The awareness about the stress, cause, different variants and how to manage it in this difficulty time is a as important as have awareness about COVID-19. Keeping this in mind SDMIMD organized webinar on ‘Stress Management’ to the first-year students of the incoming PGDM 2020-2022 on July 16, 2020 by Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Professor – OB & HR, SDMIMD. During Q&A session, Dr. Mousumi introduced various aspects of managing stress for enhanced performance. 

Webinar on Marketing of Tech Products

Mr Jaganathan Chelliah, Director – Marketing, Western Digital (India), was the invited speaker for the webinar session on ‘Marketing of Tech Products’ on July 11, 2020 for the PGDM 2019-2021. Mr. Jaganathan spoke about the importance of value mapping - specifically value migration, value disruption, value consolidation and value selling – in the context of marketing of technology products.

Webinar on Dynamics in Leadership

To acquaint students to understand and differentiate the managerial behaviour from leadership; and, to introduce the characteristics of effective leaders and ethical leadership, an online session on ‘Dynamic Leadership’ was organized on July 8, 2020 to the PGDM 2020-2022 Batch. Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta, Professor – OB & HR, SDMIMD, Mysuru, delivered the session. 

Webinar on Managing Sustainably

The webinar on ‘Managing Sustainably’ organized for the incoming PGDM 2020-2022 Batch on July 10, 2020 was a curtain raiser on the issue of sustainability which is a contemporary topic. Dr. M.R. Suresh, Professor – Marketing, SDMIMD, provided insights on mainstreaming sustainability as a business concept in the form of sustainable enterprises; and introduced the concept of triple bottom line to students with relevant examples.

Webinar on Leadership

Mr Amit Kumar, Business Unit Head, L&T Ltd., Mysuru; and Chairman CII-Mysuru Chapter, delivered the invited talk on ‘Leadership’ held on July 4, 2020. The webinar helped the PGDM 2019-2021 Batch to understand the different dimensions of leadership and the speaker explained with several examples from his career.
