About the Conference
The trends of global economic growth reflect two contrasting stories. If many of the African and some Asian economies failed in pulling off the much-desired growth, the rise of countries like Japan, Singapore, South Korea, China etc surprised the world. India stays somewhere in between these two extremes. Development is neither universal nor uniform. In a market-driven economy, the fruits of development are not distributed evenly leading to an imbalanced society. The persistent economic crisis in different parts of the world has made economists wonder whether practicing economic growth models are potential enough to generate sustainability in growth. Economists and policymakers also ponder the question of how large is the size of trade-off between economic growth and sustainable development.Thus,the major and immediate challenge of the current century is to generate growth that is inclusive and sustainable. In order to create a better and sustainable future, Governments, Corporates and NGOs need to work collectively and play their respective roles most effectively. In this backdrop, to provide a stimulating platform for academicians and practitioners to reflect, deliberate, and suggest measures that are needed both at the macro and the micro levels to elevate India and other backward economies to higher and sustained growth trajectory, Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) is organizing the international conference on “Economic Growth and Sustainable Development- Emerging Trends” under the agies of Bangalore Chamber of Industries and Commerce (BCIC) SDMIMD Centre for Excellence in Management Studies on November 29 & 30, 2023.
Aboout SDMIMD
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), a premier Bschool located in Mysore, was established in 1993 with the objective of providing quality management education based on a firm foundation of Indian values and ethics.
SDMIMD is promoted by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Trust, a much-admired non-profit educational trust that runs over 40 recognized educational institutions in Karnataka, including Engineering, Medical, Dental, Ayurveda and Naturopathy colleges. Under the able leadership of our Chairman, Dr.D.Veerendra Heggade, the trust has played an active role in empowering people and bettering the lives of communities in Southern Karnataka.
SDMIMD’s flagship offering is a two year, full time, residential Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program which is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The program has MBA Equivalence by Association of Indian Universities. The PGDM Program is accredited by ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs), USA. and by EFMD – EPAS (European Foundation for Management Development’s – Program Accreditation System), thus becoming the first institute in India to get the dual accreditation of ACBSP and EFMD – EPAS. These accreditations have propelled SDMIMD to be among the top global Business Schools and have enabled the students to learn in an environment that is process & outcome enabled and globally oriented. With the intention of strengthening the PGDM program and providing students and faculty with international exposure, the Institute has 20 tie-ups with several foreign universities for academic collaboration.
SDMIMD is also offering a One-Year Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) approved by AICTE. The Doctoral Program (PhD) in Management is offered by the research unit of SDMIMD – SDM Research Center for Management Studies (SDM RCMS). The PhD program is recognized and awarded by the University of Mysore, Mysore. SDM RCMS publish the intellectual output of faculty members and students. The Bi-Annual Journal SDMIMD Journal of Management; Annual publications – Cases in Management, Contemporary Research in Management, Excerpt of Summer Internship Reports, are its core publications. It also supports the students quarterly magazine – Dimensions, which is published as eMagazine.
SDMIMD is located in a picturesque campus at the foot of Chamundi Hills in the heritage city of Mysuru in Karnataka,140 kilometres from Bangalore. The campus is an amalgamation of modern infrastructure with classic architecture where the indoors and outdoors blend seamlessly. Green courtyards, tree-lined avenues and the chirping of birds welcome every visitor to the verdant environs.
