Rubanomics - a new venture to unleash rural hidden talent and empower them to get along with modern businesses. M/s Head Held High and SDM IMD entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen Rubanomics on August 30, 2013. Mr. Madan Padaki and his team from Head Held High, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDM IMD, Dr. H Gayathri, Deputy Director, Prof. M.R. Suresh, Marketing Faculty, were present. |

| 67th Independence Day Celebration |

"Get yourselves strong physically, mentally and intellectually. For every Coke that you drink consider drinking a tender coconut and for every Dockers that you may buy, consider buying a Desi jubba. Pause before you make the next purchase. This way, we may have the best of both the worlds! These reasoning and thoughts may appear simplistic but I believe they are implementable”, thus the message from Prof. N.R. Govinda Sharma, Professor – Strategy, SDMIMD, Mysore, while unfurling the National Flag at the 67th Independence Day celebration.
Prof. Sharma introduced a new school of thought – “Rubanomics” that is gaining ground between rural and urban. He explained ‘Ruban is a person living in rural area but with urban aspiration’. Rubanomics is the study of economics as applied to Rubans.
The students presented the patriotic songs, shared their thoughts on Building Better India. and The celebration concluded with the community breakfast.

22 Students of Software Project Management Course, Batch 2012-2014
The mapping of theoretical knowledge of software project management and its applicability and practice at SPI was the main purpose of the visit to Software Paradigms Infotech, Mysore. A brief explanation of their business operations and how they conduct was given. Topics like Contractual agreements, Metrics and Measurements and SPI project management tools were discussed.
After a brief introduction about SPI by Ms. Divya, the topics "Contractual Agreements, Project Monitoring
Project Closure" were discussed by Ms. Nandini Chatterjee, Mr. Radhakrishnan, and Mr. Ramu Krishnamurthy. |

| NIPM Quiz |
|
Mr. Shonit Mittal and Mr. Surya Prakash Hinduja of PGDM 13-15 Batch have won the first place in Phase 1 of the 'NIPM's HR Business Quiz', held on August 17, 2013 at JSS Law College, Mysore. This achievement has made them eligible for the second phase of the event ' Southern Regional Quiz Competition', to be held in Coimbatore. Third and the final round - 'National HR Quiz Competition for HR students', will be held at Goa on Thursday, September 26, 2013. |

| Convergence 3i – The Industry Institute Interface |

| SDMIMD, Mysore with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is jointly organising an interaction program for the Industry and the Academia titled Convergence 3I- Industry Institution Interface on 27 September 2013. The purpose of this program is to enable the final year engineering students of Mysore to understand the requirements and expectations of the Industry from students who are future employees and managers. Like wise, to sensitise the industry to the expectations of the students from their future employers. The program includes panel discussions, addresses from achievers in the industry and interesting mind games forrealising one's potential |

| 2nd International Finance Conference 2013 |

SDMIMD campus had turned into a virtual "global finance village" on August 9 & 10, 2013, with the presence of Academicians, Corporate Executives and Research Students from India and abroad on the occasion of 2nd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Finance & Accounting on the theme "Ideas for the Sustainable Corporate Growth".
Shri Koushik Chatterjee, Executive Director & Group CFO, Tata Steel, inaugurated the conference and delivered keynote address. Shri Chatterjee stressed on transparency, accountability and credibility adding that these are the key factors for the sustainable business growth.
The conference witnessed presentation of 68 research papers by the participants from India and abroad, in the areas of finance and accounting. The discussions by prominent academicians and industry practitioners during technical sessions were the key highlights.

Wipro Corporation, visited campus on August 24, 2013. Mr. Praveen, a HR Leader managing large conglomerate teams, managing talent landscape, helping business grow consistently by providing sound and effective solutions, shared his vast experience in his talk on “Emerging Competency requirement for HR professionals in the global environment”. The talk also introduced the HR Analytics.
Mr. Praveen has over 17yrs of work experience with Global Conglomerates like AV Birla, Praxair & Tyco Healthcare. Prior to joining Wipro he was the Head of HR of Cambridge Integrated Services India Pvt Ltd (BPO division).Mr. Praveen a gold medallist and holds Masters Degree in Human Resources. |
