Mr. Kesavan Venugopalan, Group CFO, Narayana Health, distinguished speaker for the inaugural session delivered talk on the topic “Finance – A Long Haul”. Mr. Kesavan highlighted as to how Finance as a function has gone through a rigorous change in the backdrop of changing economic scenario of the country. Ananthasubramaniam, Past President, ICSI, New Delhi and Senior Partner in M/S Ananthasubramaniam & Co, inaugurated the One-day Pre-Conference Workshop on Contemporary Issues in Finance, Accounting and Banking on 17th August, 2017. The inaugural session by Mr. Ananthasubramaniam focussed on nuances of Corporate Governance norms and its mechanism in companies listed in stock exchanges.

Singapore Conference |

Thirteenth Asia-Pacific Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Banking was organised by Global Business Research, Dubai in association with SDM IMD, Mysore on August 4-5, 2017 at Singapore. Prof. A. Seetharaman, Dean-Academic Affairs, S.P. Jain School of Global Management, Singapore Campus inaugurated the conference and delivered keynote address. In his talk, Prof. Seetharaman focussed on demystifying the practical utility and efficiency of Keynes’ theoretical framework on GDP identity. The conference was attended by the delegates from countries including China, United Kingdom, Srilanka, Taiwan, Turkey, India, Kenya and South Africa. Dr. Elango Rengasamy, the Conference Director delivered the introductory talk and welcomed delegates to the conference. Dr. B. Venkatraja, Faculty – SDM IMD, Mysore proposed the vote of thanks. The two- day conference was packed with events like technical sessions, panel discussion, interactive session and paper presentation sessions.

Intra-College Debate 2017 |

The first round of the Intra-College Debate Championship 2017 was held on August 21, 2017. The motion of the debate was “Women Reservation in corporate sector”. It was a heated debate where the four sets of participants strongly placed their arguments in front of an enthusiastic student gathering. Director Dr. N.R Parasuraman gave introductory remarks and encouraged the students and participants. The event was judged by Prof L. Gandhi and Prof. Prasad S.N. The event was organized by the Debate Committee of SDMIMD – DebCom.

71st Independence Day Celebration |
|
Dr. G. Srilakshminarayana, Faculty, SDMIMD, hoisted the Tri-Colour during the 71st Independence Day Celebration and addressed the gathering. Dr. Srilakshminarayana recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and shared the dreams they have for future India. Quoting from the published source he said “a nation or society can be built if the citizens are built with right virtues” and called upon SDMites to achieve the same and march to build a bright society, which can be gifted to the future generations. Further, he appealed to the gathering to carry the virtues that were sown by the great leaders, teachers, parents and move forward to achieve the success to the heights but with depth in wisdom. Faculty & Staff Members and Students, joined the celebration. The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets and community breakfast. |

SDMites participated in the Green Revolution Global Certification Program which is an initiative of International Center for Culture and Education (ICCE) under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) being backed by United Nations and NASA. The students were involved in a certification course that gave exposure to causes of Climate Change, why should we care, and what can we do to slow down the change, on-ground activity involved plant-a-seed that promotes awareness for the cause of climate change. The program also included the introduction of planting the Beej-pencils as seeds for a Greener Tomorrow. |
