10th International Finance Conference 2022

The 10th International Financial Conference (IFC) on Emerging Trends in Corporate Finance and Financial Markets, with the theme - a perspective on financial markets amidst global uncertainties, was inaugurated on October 13, 2022. The decennial edition was inaugurated by Dr S. Devarajan, Sr Vice-president of TVS Motor Ltd and Sr. Vice President of Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC).
 
The keynote address by Dr Devarajan focused on the paradigm shift in management because of technological advancement in manufacturing. Speaking on the need for manufacturing and management of the supply chain efficiently, he discussed Fishbone 7M Diagram (Material, Methods, Machines, Management, Man, Measurement, Mother Nature). He said all 7 M's together would yield positive effects. Dr S Devarajan stressed how the country has been advancing in manufacturing supply chain technologies by citing many examples. Further, he discussed various tools to measure the change in practice in the industry to streamline the process. Dr Devarajan strongly advocated indigenous manufacturing and imparting education wherein manufacturing is equally vital as services.
 
Speaking on occasion, Dr N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, shared the perspective on how the capital market in India seems bullish, the progressive effect of investing long term, the company's role in managing such risks and the strategies involved.
 

Invitation to Present Case for Policy Makers

Dr G. Srilakshminarayana, Faculty, SDMIMD, was invited to present the case ‘Trin-Trin' co-authored with Dr Sunil M.V., Faculty, SDMIMD, during the workshop on Green Initiatives and Innovative approaches in ULBs” at Vikas Soudha. The workshop was organized by the City Managers Association- Karnataka (CMAK), Bengaluru, for the members of the policymakers in Urban Planning, Development, and Management, on October 11, 2022. The case study was about the public bicycle sharing system (PBSS) successfully implemented in Mysore.

In the Business Today MDRA B School survey 2022 results, our institute is placed in 55th position among 281 top B Schools in the Overall ranking; 33rd among top Private 100 B Schools; 13th among Top 20 B Schools in the South Zone.

In the GHRDC-CSR B-School Survey 2022, our institute is placed in the 8th position among 16 Top Leading B-Schools of Super Excellence; 18th among 20 Top B- Schools under the category "Faculty, Publication, Research, Consultancy, MDP & Other Programmes"; 19th among 20 Top B- Schools under the category "Placement (Domestic & International), USP, Social Responsibility, Networking & Industry Interface and 3rd among Top B-Schools in Karnataka.

SDMIMD bags Prizes in Dasara flower show competition

SDMIMD is proud of its picturesque campus and green courtyards with verdant environs. The garden is known for its landscape, decorative plants and fruit garden. The Institute Garden has bagged First Prize in the recently held Dasara Flower Competition -2022 organised by the Department of Horticulture, Govt of Karnataka.  
 
Over the years, the SDMIMD garden has received great appreciation from the visitors to the campus and the garden has won the award during Dasara Flower Show Competition consistently since the year 2005.   

Foundation Day Lecture 2022

Managing the mind, time, expectations, emotions, communication, and values is the true essence of human values and success in life, thus said Prof J.M. Subramanya, Former Director, SDMIMD, during the SDMIMD Foundation Day Lecture held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at SDMIMD campus, Mysore. 
 
Prof Subramanya speaking on the corporate culture and work-life, said 'duty with a good thought, good mind, the good heart, will always yield good results. The duty and responsibilities have to be performed with passion. Further, he said, God has blessed us with relationships in our lives and has left us the choice to choose friends, which we must exercise with due diligence. Wealth is a must in life, but how we earn, how it is spent and what portion we give back to society matters a lot. 
 
Speaking on the teaching-learning in the current scenario, he shared several anecdotes and his learnings with the concept of Vishaya (the Content), Vinaya (the humility), Vismaya (the pleasant surprise), and Vaikari (the art of presenting). 
 
The speaker gave the young managers food for thought and presented the cycle of learning - observe, experience, listen and read - from the famous Shri Someshwara Shathaka. 
 
Earlier, Dr N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, addressed the gathering highlighting the day's importance and providing an opportunity to learn from the institution builders and eminent personalities. Dr S.N. Prasad, Deputy Director, SDMIMD, introduced and welcomed the speaker. Dr M.R. Suresh, Professor of Marketing, SDMIMD, presented the vote of thanks. 
 
Guests, faculty members, alumni, staff, and the students on campus were present during the function.

SDMIMD organized Blood Donation Camp

SDMIMD joined Terapanth Yuvak Parishad in conducting World's Biggest Donation Drive on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the Institute Wellness Center. SDMIMD joined the blood donation drive held throughout the Country at 2,000+ blood donation camps under the aegis of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI, in Collaboration with Tearapannth Parishad, India.
 
Sri. Nagendra, MLA, Chamaraja Constituency Mysore, inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp at SDMIMD. Mr Nagendra highlighted the importance of blood donation and appreciated the initiatives of Terapanth Yuvak Parishad and SDMIMD for conducting the camp. Dr S.N. Prasad, Deputy Director and Prof. C.V. Sridhar, Faculty & Manager - Administration, addressed the gathering. The members of the Parishad, Faculty, Staff Members, and Students, were present during the inauguration. Students & Staff Members from the institute and Members of Terapanth Yuvak Parishad Mysore generously donated blood for this Noble cause with great enthusiasm.
