Workshop on Essentials of ERP

The Centre for Advanced Learning (CAL) committee of SDMIMD conducted a workshop on the essentials of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) for first-year students of PGDM 2023-25 on January 10, 2024. The workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of ERP systems and their significance in today's dynamic business environment. Dr. Neetu Ganapathy, a renowned expert in the field, shared valuable insights and practical knowledge to equip attendees with a solid foundation in ERP concepts.

The workshop included the following:

  • Streamlining business processes, enhancing collaboration, improving decision-making, and optimizing resource utilization through ERP.
  • Gaining a deeper understanding of ERP's role in organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Exploring key aspects, including ERP modules, implementation challenges, and the impact on business operations.
  • Engaging in discussions, asking questions, and interacting with Dr. Neetu Ganapathy for an enriched learning experience.

ESG Seminar on Women Empowerment: Issues and Challenges

To bring awareness about the need and issues related to women empowerment in India, a seminar was conducted by Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Professor – HRM at SDMIMD. During the seminar, it was discussed that empowering women generally means to facilitate the process of increasing women’s access to control over the strategic life choices that affect them to realize their capacities and status in life. Women empowerment was discussed in regard to social, educational and economic conditions. With several examples, Dr. Mousumi explained how empowerment strengthens women’s positions in social structures, giving them a larger purpose. It was also discussed that, women needed education to boost the self-confidence, self-esteem, and to become self-sufficient. Being at economic disadvantage could take away access to becoming empowered. Thus, economic independence needed to be a significant step towards women empowerment.
 
In the seminar, the students were also informed about how government and non-government organizations, along with several multinational and Indian companies have been involved into enhancing women empowerment in India and how the employees are encouraged to bring innovative ideas in the same context. The seminar also involved the participating students, who proposed certain initiatives to support the movement towards increased women empowerment.

One-day Workshop on 'Crafting Business Cases-Leveraging AI’

A Workshop on 'Crafting Business Cases: Leveraging AI', was successfully conducted on January 6, 2024, at SDMIMD. The program has attracted academicians and research scholars from various parts of the country, and all of them actively participated in this workshop.
 
The faculty resource person of  Dr. K. Riyazahmed, SDMIMD, conducted various sessions on case writing during the day, as mentioned below:
Session 1: Essential aspects of case writing and teaching.
Session 2: Steps in Drafting Main Case Content.
Session 3: Preparing teaching notes and additional components, crafting cases using AI support.
Session 4: Design your case: case outlining and abstract preparation (hands-on), Submission and publication process: dos and don'ts.
 
Dr. S.N. Prasad, Director of SDMIMD, inaugurated the program in the presence of faculty members and participants at the MDP hall of SDMIMD. The program concluded with a valedictory session and the distribution of certificates. The workshop received high praise from all the participants, who expressed very positive feedback.

11th International Conference for “HR for Organisational Sustainability”

The conference was inaugurated by Mr. C K Suresh, the Founder Director of ATMA Foundation. Dr. S N Prasad, Director SDMIMD, delivered the welcome address and elaborated on the impact of the pandemic on work dynamics, leading to hybrid education and remote work. Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, the Conference Chair, stressed the role of HRM in nurturing organizational sustainability through governance, innovation, and empathy. Mr. Suresh, as the Chief Guest, shared insights on sustainability, discussing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and emphasizing the triple bottom line—Economic, Environmental, and People aspects. The conference was held on December 21-22, 2023.
 
The valedictory address of the conference was delivered by Dr. Dharma Prasad, CEO, Prosetta Bioconformatics. Dr. Mahesh Rao, CEO, Aashaya Design Solutions, Mr. Ravichandra Bekal, CHRO, Wurth Elektronik India Pvt. Ltd. And Dr K Anantha Gowda, CHRO, Nandi Economic Corridor Enterprises Limited were the other distinguished speakers, during the conference. 
 
During the 2 days of the conference, more than 125 participants discussed and deliberated on the topics, such as, talent Management, corporate sustainability, Emotional Intelligence, Stress Management, HR analytics, HR governance, Global HRM, Change management, work life balance, ethical leadership, diversity management, and Green HRM.

SDMIMD's Triumph of Learning in Ushus 2023

At Christ University's Ushus 2023, 11 students from SDMIMD embarked on a transformative journey, securing runner-up positions in key events such as the business plan, data analytics, and marketing. The experience offered a dynamic platform for applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges, fostering strategic thinking and analytical insights. 
 
Engaging with industry experts and peers provided invaluable exposure, enriching their understanding of the multifaceted world of management. Beyond victories, the festival emphasized collaboration, building strong team dynamics that propelled growth and resilience. Ushus 2023 stands as a beacon of experiential learning, leaving an indelible mark on SDMIMD's academic journey and preparing participants for success in the dynamic realm of management.

Talk on 'Competing in the Age of AI'

Dr. Mohamed Minhaj, Professor - Systems, and Chairperson - Academic Programmes, delivered a talk on 'Competing in the Age of AI' to 100+ MBA prospects. The webinar was organized by IMS and coordinated by SDMIMD Admissions team. The webinar took place on December 5, 2023.

Invited talk by Dr. Rajesh Kumar

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dean and Professor of the School of Commerce and Management at Chanakya University, delivered a guest lecture to the finance students of SDMIMD held on December 2, 2023. He emphasized the significance of modeling and predictive analytics for finance students. He reviewed the fundamentals of crucial concepts using Excel. Subsequently, he employed Gretl software to demonstrate the regression process. Additionally, he outlined the steps involved in creating Blue and Garch models. At the end of the session, he also encouraged the students to develop models on their own.

Talk by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sarda

Mr. Sanjay, Technology Leader in Cloud Engineering DevOps and Corporate Training in AWS , Azure and GCP,  delivered a guest talk (Virtual Mode) on managing cloud services and their industry impact on December 2, 2023. During the session, he discussed case studies from Netflix and Unilever, highlighting cost reduction strategies in these firms. The talk emphasized the broader impact and benefits of cloud services in the industry, shedding light on AI tools like AWS text recognition and the importance of ChatGPT. Exploring job prospects in cloud computing across sectors was a key focus. Furthermore, the session deliberated on the advantages of OCR and the scope of document management.
