29th Annual Convocation

The 29th Annual Convocation ceremony of SDMIMD's flagship program, the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), is scheduled for Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Institute's campus. The Convocation Address will be delivered by the Guest of Honor, Shri Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge Ltd, Kalyani Group of Industries, Pune.

SDMIMD MoU with TT Skill Development & Logistics

SDMIMD and TT Skill (Member of TT Group, Chennai), have officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 7, 2024. This collaboration aims to conduct training and certification programs for students and executives at SDMIMD, leveraging the expertise of SDMIMD faculty and senior practitioners, along with experts from the domain of supply chain logistics. The scope of the MoU covers various aspects of supply chain logistics, including air, surface, and shipping logistics.
 
The signing ceremony saw Dr. (Lt Col) Prasad SN, Director of SDMIMD, exchanging the MoU with Mr. Kochat Narendran, Director representing TT Skill (A TT Group company). Also present were Mr. Sridhar K, Vice President Projects; Mr. Debajyoti Bagchi, Vice President-Business Development (Air Cargo Logistics) of TT Logistics; Mr. Karthi Baskar, Director (TT Logistics), MD & CEO of FFAF Logistics, Bangalore; and Mr. Rohit Ghosh, Founder & CEO of Skilledge 4.0, Pune, the knowledge partner.
 
This collaboration holds significant promise as the field of supply chain logistics is experiencing rapid growth in India, presenting vast opportunities for training, internships, on-the-job training (OJT), and job placements. Through this MoU, both parties aim to capitalize on these opportunities and contribute to the advancement of the logistics industry.

SDMIMD MoU with NSE Academy for NSMART

SDMIMD entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NSE Academy to establish NSE Trading Lab in the Institute. The MoU was signed by Dr.S.N.Prasad, Director, SDMIMD and Dr.Abhilash Misra, CEO, NSE Academy,Mumbai. Mr. Ranganathan, Associate Vice President, NSE Academy, Dr.M.Sriram, Associate Professor-Finance and students of Finacle Club were present on the occasion. The trading lab will have the simulation software called ‘NSE SMART’ which provides a hands on experience to the students in trading in stocks and understand the functioning of stock markets. The students will have practical expsoure in both cash as well as the derivatives market. The students will be provided with virtual money which can be used for trading in securities without any risk. The expsoure to the simulation is expected to augment the learning of the students in investments and financial markets.

Career Opportunities in Logistics

The session on "Career Opportunities in Logistics at TTK Group," held on March 7, 2024, was led by industry veterans like Mr. Karthi Baskar and Mr. Debajyoti Bagchi, offering rich insights into logistics. Mr. Rohit Ghosh added unique perspective to this. TTK Group's meticulous approach to supply chain management was enlightening, showcasing industry excellence. The emphasis on practical skills like public speaking and business analysis was notable. The discussion underscored TTK Group's commitment to operational excellence, leveraging various transportation modes. Overall, the session provided a comprehensive understanding of logistics, opening doors to exciting career opportunities.

Pratigam 2024 – SDMites Annual Meet

The SDMIMD Alumni Annual Meet - Pratigam for the year 2024 was a resounding success, held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the esteemed SDMIMD Campus. Dr. Sunil M.V., Faculty Coordinator of Prerana - SDMIMD Alumni Association, extended a warm welcome to all SDMites, emphasizing the pivotal role alumni play as 'Valued Ambassadors' in the institution's growth journey. He reiterated their commitment to providing unwavering support, both formally and informally, towards the advancement of the alma mater.
 
The event commenced with the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM), a platform for deliberations and decisions crucial for the association's functioning. One of the highlights of the AGM was the selection of the Executive Council for the term 2024-26, a significant step in steering the association towards its objectives.
 
During the inaugural ceremony of Pratigram 2024, Dr. S.N. Prasad, Director of SDMIMD and the Chief-Patron of Prerana, delivered an inspiring address underscoring the alumni's role as stakeholders of the institute. Dr. Prasad, in his discourse, commended the relentless efforts of SDMites in propelling the institution into the ranks of the Top 50 B-Schools in various esteemed B-School Surveys.
 
Mr. Vijay Mane, the President of Prerana, extended a compelling call to action, urging SDMites to rally behind the association's mission - Connect, Educate, and Network. 
 
The synergy followed this meet that ensued fostered meaningful interactions and collaborations among the attendees, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and shared vision.
 
Pratigam 2024 was not merely an event; it was a testament to the unwavering dedication and collective spirit of the SDMIMD fraternity towards fostering excellence and enriching the alma mater's legacy. As we embark on a new chapter, we remain steadfast in our resolve to uphold the values of integrity, innovation, and inclusivity that define the essence of SDMIMD.

ESG Seminar on Business Sustainability

Dr. Gautam Nagpal, Research Fellow at ESC Pau Business School, France, delivered the ESG Seminar on Business Sustainability for ESG modular specialization students of SDMIMD held during February 5 and February 9, 2024.
 
Sustainability has been a hot topic of discussion in recent times, evident in businesses and organizations. It has evolved from a theoretical concept discussed in academia to a business model and orientation for companies. Sustainability is not just a concept for discussion but a holistic outlook that requires organizations to adjust their business models, missions, visions, and recalibrate their raison d'être or reason for being.
 
During this course, students explore sustainability, business sustainability, and sustainability reporting frameworks in various contexts such as India, the USA, Europe, and the UK, among others. By studying the different theoretical foundations of sustainability, students can understand the origins of business sustainability and its future direction. Through course seminars, students engage in group projects that involve a detailed analysis of an organization's sustainability.

Outbound Learning programme in Management for GSSS Students

A 5-day Outbound Learning programme in Management was conducted at SDMIMD for 115 MBA students of GSSS IETW, Mysore from 5th to 9th February 2024. The programme was inaugurated by the SDMIMD Faculty team along with Dr. Shivakumar, Principal of GSSS, and the MBA faculty members of GSSS.
 
This was followed by various sessions conducted by the faculty resource persons of SDMIMD on different topics for 5 days as mentioned below:

The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony and certificate distribution. The programme was well appreciated by the student participants of GSSS as well as the Principal & MBA faculty Members of GSSSIETW.

3rd Edition of the HR Best Practices Competition

CII Mysuru hosted the 3rd Edition of the HR Best Practices Competition at SDMIMD to encourage and promote excellence in HR. The CII Mysuru Zone CSR, HR & IR Panel organized the event on Thursday, 1st February 2024. Many companies in and around Mysuru participated in the competition, showcasing their best HR practices.
