Academic & Research Tie-up with BAI, France

SDMIMD has entered into an MOU with Business Analytics Institute (BAI), a France based institute involved in training pertaining to Managerial Decision Making, Machine Learning and Visual Communications. As part of this academic collaboration, besides student and faculty exchange, joint research related to Business Analytics is envisaged.  
 
SDMIMD, as part of its flagship PGDM program is currently offering elective courses related to Analytics like Business Intelligence, Big Data Technologies, R Programming, etc.  With this academic & research tie-up SDMIMD students will have an opportunity to learn the nuances of analytics based managerial decision making with the new course -  “Business Analytics in Action”. Dr. Lee Schlenker, who is the Principal and Managing Partner of Business Analytics Institute, would be the guest-faculty for this course.

'Accreditation Process' - Invited Talk by Dr. Parasuraman

​​SDMIMD Director Dr N.R. Parasuraman addressed the delegates of the 10th International Accreditation Conference organized by the Standards for Educational dvancement & Accreditation (SEAA) Trust, New Delhi on November 6, 2017. Dr. Parasuraman explained the process of EFMD - EPAS accreditation and how SDMIMD geared itself to succeed in the process. ​​

23rd Annual SDMIMD Convocation

On completion of the two-year learning process, the students of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) of Batch 2016-18 will receive the degree during the 23rd Annual Convocation. This dream day will be on March 24, 2018. Shri. N.S. Vishwanathan, Deputy Governor and Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India, will be the Chief Guest of this academic grandeur and will deliver the Keynote Address. Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman, SDMIMD will preside over the function. Eminent personalities from academic and corporate world are invited to join the SDMIMD family in honouring the student in this awarding ceremony.
About the Chief Guest
 
Mr. N. S. Vishwanathan, is serving as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India since July 2016 and as its Executive Director since April 2014. Mr. Vishwanathan served as Principal Chief General Manager in the Department of non-banking supervision at Reserve Bank of India. 
 
As Deputy Governor, Shri Vishwanathan will look after Department of Banking Regulation (DBR), Department of Co-operative Banking Regulation (DCBR), Department of Non-Banking Regulation (DNBR), Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC), Financial Stability Unit (FSU), Inspection Department, Risk Monitoring Department (RMD) and Secretary’s Department.
 
Shri Vishwanathan, a career central banker, joined the Reserve Bank of India in 1981. His areas of expertise include regulation and supervision of banks, non-banking finance companies and cooperative banks, currency management, foreign exchange and human resources management. He had a three-year secondment to the Bank of Mauritius, the central bank of Mauritius, as Director, Supervision. He has also been the head of Chennai Regional office of the Reserve Bank.
 
Shri Vishwanathan was the Reserve Bank nominee on the Board of Directors of three public sector banks at different points in time. He was also the Chief Vigilance Officer and Head of Internal Audit, IFCI. He has been associated with various committees, working groups, and task forces. He represented the Reserve Bank in various international Committees. These are: Member of the Policy Development Group, BIS, Basel, Member of Macro Prudential Policy Group BIS, Basel, and Executive Committee Member of the International Credit Union Regulators Network.

International Conference on Marketing

Rao, Managing Director, Kennametal India Ltd, Bangalore, during the keynote delivered at the 2-Day International Marketing Conference organized by SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), on October 26-27, 2017.
 
The two day conference provided platform for the industry experts, marketing practitioners and academia to share their knowledge and experiences of marketing in the digital milieu. 
 
Mr. Venguswamy Ramaswamy, Global Head, iON, Tata Consultancy Services and Mr. N. Ravi Shankar, CEO, Aim High Consulting; will be delivering invited talks during the conference. Research papers, concept notes and case studies will be presented by the participants from across India, during the technical sessions of the conference.
 
Valedictory chief guest Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Trichy, stressed on how technology is changing and its impact on businesses. Dr. Metri also provided insights about global restructuring, how nations are reshaping itself due to the changing socio and economic conditions.
 
Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of the institute; Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director; and Prof. Jayakrishnan, Conference Chair; Dr. R. Sugant, Professor – Marketing and Chairman; and faculty members graced the occasion. 

Invited talk by Mr BC Rao

The 2 day international Conference on Marketing held on 26th and 27th of October with a theme, which focused on the contemporary and emerging trends of marketing in Digital World started off with a key note address by Mr BC Rao, MD of Kennametal India Ltd. Mr BC Rao, in his key note address highlighted about the digital initiatives that his organization has taken and how positive its impact has been. Mr Rao also shared his personal experiences during the course of his lecture. He gave tips to students to survive and succeed in the corporate set up.

Guest talk by Mr. Sukumar Rangachari

Mr Sukumar Rangachari, Managing Director, Ace Components and Electronics Pvt ltd, delivered invited talk organized by the E-Cell Club - Swayam at SDMIMD. During the course of his lecture, Mr Sukumar Rangachari spoke about the importance of entrepreneurship. He questioned the audience “Why they wanted to become entrepreneurs?”, and through the course of his lecture, he tried to give the audience a sense of direction and clarity on how to become an entrepreneur. Mr Sukumar Rangachari also emphasised about the importance of a business plan/Model. This was followed by a Q&A session.

Competition Success Review (CSR) Magazine has ranked SDMIMD in 9th place among the ‘Top B-School of Super Excellence’ at all India level. The institute has secured 5th Top B-School.
The Business Today B-School Survey 2017 has placed SDMIMD in 22nd Place among the Top 100 Institutes in the country with ‘Future Orientation’. The institute has been listed for Placements and Selection Process among the Top 100 B-Schools in the Country.
