HEF Award to Dr. M.R. Suresh

Higher Education Forum (HEF), Mumbai, the professional body of academicians, has honored with the award to Dr. M.R. Suresh, Professor-Marketing, SDMIMD, Mysuru, in the area of Academic Excellence for the outstanding contribution to teaching and research factoring the contribution to various institutions that Dr. M.R. Suresh has worked. The award was given in a ceremony held at HEF Convention in Bangalore recently.

Achievement of our Students

Our students’ team consisting of V Harisankar Nair and Athul TP of PGDM 2017-19 batch has won the Mysore regional finals of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2019, the biggest campus quiz in India. The quiz was hosted by Giri Balasubramaniam was popularly known as Pickbrain, one of the renowned quizmaster in India. A total of 400 teams participated in the quiz and the team representing SDMIMD came out victorious. The team will now represent Mysore region and SDMIMD in the zonal finals which will be held in Coimbatore in the third week of March.

CSR Symposium 2019

 
SDMIMD has organised One Day Symposium on Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Development on February 26. The symposium was organised in collaboration with European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and Third Sector Research Resource Centre, University of Mysore. 
 
The program was inaugurated by Prof. Hemantha Kumar, Vice Chancellor, University of Mysore. Dr.N.,R.Parasuraman, Director-SDMIMD has delivered introductory talk to the event. 
 
The keynote address to the event was delivered by Prof. Ulrich Hommel, Director, Business Schools Development - EFMD Global Network. Prof.Ulrich has expressed concern that business education is becoming commercial as days passed by. He emphasised that business institutions need to be more responsible towards society. He believes that Corporate Social Responsibility should be embedded in the business eco system. Ethics, responsibility and sustainability must be under-pinned. He also called upon academics towards responsible research in business and management. 
 
The program was designed by distinguished talks, technical lectures, and panel discussion. 
 
Mr.B.Muthuraman, Ex-Chairman Tata International & Ex- Vice Chairman, Tata Steel Ltd. was the distinguished speaker. His talk was focussing around the emerging issues of CSR. Mr.Basavaraju R, Executive Director, GRAAM delivered a technical talk on how to design the CSR projects. Mr.Prasanna V.R, CEO, Sikshana Foundation spoke on ways of implementing the CSR projects. 
 
A panel comprising of Mr. William D’Souza, Executive Director-MYKAPS, Mr. R. Guru, Managing Partner-N.Ranga Rao & Sons, Dr.N.R.Parasuraman, Director-SDMIMD, Dr.M.R.Suresh, Professor of Marketing-SDMIMD have deliberated on “CSR and Sustainability of Interventions: Opportunities and Challenges”. The panel was moderated by Dr.M.Indira, Chairperson, Department of Economics, University of Mysore. 
 
The one day event has culminated with the valedictory talk by Dr. N. Muthukumar, President & Whole Time Director, Automotive Axles Limited.
 
The symposium has received overwhelming response and was attended by more than 100 registered participants from industry, NGOs and academics. 
 
The program was co-ordinated by the Symposium Chairpersons - Dr.M.Indira, Professor, University of Mysore and Dr.B.Venkatraja, Assistant Professor, SDMIMD. 

Mr. Roshan wins 1st Place at Rhapsody

Mr. Roshan K. of PGDM 2018-20 has won the 1st prize in the National singing competition event - Rhapsody organized by Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru, during February 2019. Mr. Roshan has won the prize in the solo singing category. 

Convergence 3i – 2019 edition

 
'Convergence-3i' the annual event for Industry-Institute-Interaction for the Final Year Degree students of all colleges in and around Mysore was organized in association with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) – Mysore Chapter on February 20, 2019. The 2019 edition of Convergence 3i focused on the expectations of the employers and the student graduates from each other with the theme - 'Employer's view of Graduate Job Aspirants and the Wish List'.
 
Dr. B.G. Sangameshwara, Vice Chancellor, JSS S&T University, Mysore, was the Chief Guest and delivered the Keynote Address.
 
The panel discussion on 'Changing Opportunities for Graduates; A Limitless World’ was the key highlight of the program. The panel included Prof. Sukumar S., MD, Ace Electronics; Mr. Bhaskar Kalale, Vice Chairman-CII, Mysore and President & GM (India) of Theorem (India) Pvt. Ltd., Mysore; and moderated by Dr. Prasad S.N., Convergence 3i Coordinator and Professor- Strategy, SDMIMD.

Startup Charcha 2019 by SDMites E-Cell

SDMIMD Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) - Swayam organized its flagship event ‘Startup Charcha' on 7th February 2019. The program began with a Panel Discussion on the topic ‘Entrepreneurship: Issues, Challenges, and the Way Ahead’, moderated by Dr. M R Suresh, Professor – Marketing, SDMIMD and also the Coordinator of the event. The Distinguished Panellists were Mr. Sanjay Srinivasmurthy, Director-Silicon Road, Mr. Krishna Narayana, Managing Director of Shyama Jewels and Dr. M Sriram, Professor – Finance, SDMIMD. This was followed by an insightful talk by Mr Sanjaya Doreswamy, Founder - Kuteera Kitchen. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Narendra Narayanan, Founder & Managing Director of Vinyas Innovative Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Mysuru. The charcha concluded with open forum having interaction between the students and the distinguished guests.

HH Yaduveer Wadiyar inaugurates Naissance 2019

SDMIMD's flagship B-School Management Fest Naissance was inaugurated on 1st February 2019. The 2019 edition with the theme 'Combat of the Crowns’ was inaugurated by the Chief Guest His Highness, The Maharaja of Mysore, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. The two-day national level B-School fest witnessed intellectual battle and supremacy between the brightest minds of premier B-schools of India with the participation of 176 students from 18 colleges. The theme of ‘Naissance 2019 – Combat of the Crowns’ revolved around the management lessons and principles derived from the ancient Indian emperors and its implications in today’s dynamic business environment. Kristu Jayanthi College from Bengaluru emerged as the Overall winners of Naissance 2019.

70th Republic Day Celebration

 
The 70th Republic Day was celebrated with great patriotism and fervour at SDMIMD on Saturday, January 26, 2019. The celebrations began with a patriotic song. 
 
Prof. Sridhar, Faculty and Chief Administrative Office, SDMIMD, unfurled the national flag. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sridhar said ‘it’s our duty to respect our parents & teachers, who made us responsible citizens. We got to be very fortunate to have been born in this great country.  India is a vast and diversified country with Multi Religions, Languages, Cultures, faith and beliefs.  Yet we have proved to the entire world that we are a cohesive force and live in harmony and peace by respecting each other’s beliefs and sentiments and have collectively made India a very strong country in the Global arena.  Today India is respected everywhere, and India is a strong force to be reckoned with.  Indian’s are respected and welcomed in other developed and developing countries.  We are all respected for our rich tradition, culture, hard work and commitment, which are based on our rich value systems and rich ethical standards laid by our Great forefathers since ancient times’.
 
Further, Prof. Sridhar said only when we become disciplined and committed, the society will be benefitted and finally the country at large will also be benefitted. All good initiatives must originate at our levels only and we must practice what we preach. 
 
The impressions shared by SDMites about the country and role of Young Indians, showed great patriotism. Faculty, Staff and Students joined the national celebration. 
 
This was followed by community breakfast at the Institute Mess.
