29th Annual Convocation

The 29th Annual Convocation ceremony of SDMIMD's flagship program, the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), is scheduled for Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Institute's campus. The Convocation Address will be delivered by the Guest of Honor, Shri Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge Ltd, Kalyani Group of Industries, Pune.

28th Annual Convocation

Our Institute wore a festive look on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 on the occasion of 28th Annual Convocation. Students from PGDM 2021-23 batch were awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Management by our respective Chairman Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade. Four students shared six gold medals for their best performance in Academics, Marketing,  Finance,  Human Resources Management, Systems and Best overall performance. These winners received the gold medals from the Chief Guest Shri. L Ganesh, Chairman and Managing Director, Rane Holdings.

SDMIMD 27th Annual Convocation

Our Institute wore a festive look on Thursday, March 31, 2022 on the occasion of 27th Annual Convocation. 177 eligible students from PGDM 2020-2022 batch were awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Management by our respective Chairman Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade. Seven students shared nine gold medals for their best performance in Academics, Marketing,  Finance,  Human Resources Management, Systems and Best overall performance. These winners received the gold medals from the Chief Guest Smt. Pankajam Sridevi, Managing Director,  Commonwealth Bank of Australia (India).

In her Convocation address, Smt. Pankajam Sridevi remembered her teachers with high respect, as inspiring personalities. According to her, hardwork is the common force behind every successful person. She also expressed her views on cleverness as a gift and kindness as a choice.  She felt that kindness is more important than knowledge in this era for the upliftment of the society.

While delivering the presidential address, Dr.D. Veerendra Heggade opined that society is changing as women are getting equal importance in terms of education and jobs. He took the example of SDM institutions where more females are getting admission which may force them to reserve seats for boys in the next 10 years.
 
Dr. N R Parasuraman, Director presented the Annual Report having the events happened in the institute and the achievements of the institute during 2021-2022. Dr. S N Prasad, Deputy Director rendered the vote of thanks.

First Annual Convocation of PGCM 2019-20

SDMIMD organized the First Annual Convocation of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved One-Year Full-Time - Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) Program (2020-21 batch) on January 27, 2021, through Virtual Mode.  
 
Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala and Chairman of SDMIMD Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, presided the convocation function. Dr. Heggade awarded the Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) to the 11 students of the AICTE approved batch and honoured the Gold Medal for Overall Excellent Performance to Mr. Bhargav G Upadhyay. 
 
In his convocation address, Dr. Heggade said SDMIMD has been striving to build up overall personalities and character in the students. His desire is to have students excel in their corporate or own ventures and concurrently holding aloft Indian values and ethos. 
 
Speaking on the changing vistas of higher education, Dr. Heggade opined that New Education Policy (NEP) has several postulates, which is practised by Dharmasthala group of institutions ever since they forayed into education. He stressed on the educational system which upholds the Indian values and the Indian spirit for – integrity, reverence, gratitude, and social responsibility. Advising the graduating students Dr. Heggade said ‘young managers should have a temperamental framework in leading a life of fulfilment and the same time be successful in their avocations’.

23rd Annual SDMIMD Convocation

“Traditional banks should advocate Financial Technology (FinTech) to keep pace with latest advancements,” opined Mr. N.S. Vishwanathan, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), during the 23rd Annual Convocation address of SDMIMD delivered on March 24, 2018.
 
Mr. Vishwanathan observed that mobile banking and app-based payments have become very popular which indicate that 41% users make payments through FinTech. He added that digitisation decreases transaction cost in the banking sector. He indicated that India was second only to China regarding active FinTech users.
 
Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala, and Chairman, SDMIMD, presided over the event and conferred the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) degree to 157 students belonging to the 2016-18 batch. 
 
Ms. S.S. Nidhi topped the list of gold medallists bagging three - Suman Narayan Memorial Alumni Gold Medal for Excellent Performance in Human Resources Management; Gold Medal for Excellent Performance in Marketing; and, shared the Chairman’s Distinguished Student Gold Medal. Followed by Mr. B.C. Sachidev won the Ankur Gupta Memorial Alumni Gold Medal For Excellent Performance in Finance; Gold Medal for Excellent Performance in Operations was awarded to Mr. Vimal Ullas Mangeshkar; Ms. Sheri Miriam John won the Gold Medal for Excellent Performance in Systems; Mr. Ziaulla Sheriff won the Ankur Gupta Memorial Gold Medal for Best Overall Performance; and Chairman’s Distinguished Student Gold Medal for Best Academic Performance Jointly Shared by two students – Ms. Neha and Ms. Nidhi. 
 
Earlier, the Director of the Institute Dr. N.R. Parasuraman welcomed the gathering and presented the Annual Report 2017-18. The presentation gave glimpses about the happenings in the Institute during the academic year. The report also shared the information about 2 international accreditations, academic achievements and students achievements, international tie-up and activities in the institute.
 
The Deputy Director of SDMIMD Dr. H. Gayathri presented the vote of thanks. Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean – Academics, led the Convocation procession and the process.

23rd Annual SDMIMD Convocation

On completion of the two-year learning process, the students of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) of Batch 2016-18 will receive the degree during the 23rd Annual Convocation. This dream day will be on March 24, 2018. Shri. N.S. Vishwanathan, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India, will be the Chief Guest of this academic grandeur and will deliver the Keynote Address. Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman, SDMIMD will preside over the function. Eminent personalities from academic and corporate world are invited to join the SDMIMD family in honouring the student in this awarding ceremony.
About the Chief Guest
 
Mr. N. S. Vishwanathan, is serving as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India since July 2016 and as its Executive Director since April 2014. Mr. Vishwanathan served as Principal Chief General Manager in the Department of non-banking supervision at Reserve Bank of India. 
 
As Deputy Governor, Shri Vishwanathan will look after Department of Banking Regulation (DBR), Department of Co-operative Banking Regulation (DCBR), Department of Non-Banking Regulation (DNBR), Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC), Financial Stability Unit (FSU), Inspection Department, Risk Monitoring Department (RMD) and Secretary’s Department.
 
Shri Vishwanathan, a career central banker, joined the Reserve Bank of India in 1981. His areas of expertise include regulation and supervision of banks, non-banking finance companies and cooperative banks, currency management, foreign exchange and human resources management. He had a three-year secondment to the Bank of Mauritius, the central bank of Mauritius, as Director, Supervision. He has also been the head of Chennai Regional office of the Reserve Bank.
 
Shri Vishwanathan was the Reserve Bank nominee on the Board of Directors of three public sector banks at different points in time. He was also the Chief Vigilance Officer and Head of Internal Audit, IFCI. He has been associated with various committees, working groups, and task forces. He represented the Reserve Bank in various international Committees. These are: Member of the Policy Development Group, BIS, Basel, Member of Macro Prudential Policy Group BIS, Basel, and Executive Committee Member of the International Credit Union Regulators Network.

22nd Annual Convocation

‘Leadership is all about innovation, you cannot innovate unless you take risks and experiment’ said Rajeev Dubey, Chief Guest and Group President - HR & Corporate Services, CEO - Aftermarket Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, at the 22nd Annual Convocation of SDMIMD’s flagship program Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) on Friday, 24 March, 2017 at SDMIMD Campus. Mr. Rajeev Dubey said that there is a paradigm shift from ‘conventional age’ to ‘information age’ and to have presence in this information age we should be full of energy, passion, engaged and committed. He called upon the graduating students to dream big and pursue their passion until they reach their goal and said ‘it is the dream that will take you to your final destination. Let me assure you, you may fall down at times, but your dream makes you reach from the stars’.
 
Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala, and Chairman, SDMIMD, in his video message congratulated the SDMIMD Team on Twin International Accreditations – EFMD and ACBSP, and said students are the brand ambassadors of the Institute who not only carry the Post Graduate Diploma, but also the culture, commitment and conduct to the corporate world. He called upon the young managers to be worthy of the degree awarded and committed both in professional life and social life. Due to a religious commitment at Dharmasthala, Dr. Heggade,  could not preside over the convocation was sorely missed by everyone at SDMIMD. 
 
Prof. S. Prabhakar, Secretary, SDM Educational Trust, presided over the event and conferred the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) degree to 174 students belonging to the 2015-17 batch. 
 
The Chief Guest of the Convocation, Shri. Rajeev Dubey presented the Gold Medals to the meritorious students. Winner of the Chairman’s Distinguished Student Award Ms. Namitha T R, also received the Gold Medal in function area of Marketing. Ankur Gupta Memorial Overall Performance Gold Medal awardee Ms. Pooja Hegde too received another Gold Medal in the functional area Operations. Mr. Akash Gupta secured the Gold Medal in function area Systems; the introductory, Suman Narayan Memorial Gold Medal in Human Resources Management was awarded to Ms. Anitha Narayanan. Ms. Afzana Shaji received the Ankur Gupta Memorial Gold Medal for Excellent Performance in Finance.
