Emotional intelligence has gained momentum over the years, in managing emotions intelligently and dealing with people’s issues at the workplace. A two-day online management development program on “Predictive Analytics for Decision Making” was conducted on June 24 & 25, 2022. The coverage included a discussion on the importance of predictive analytics in decision making, an introduction to the predictive models, and the application of predictive models for predicting future events. Predictive models such as Linear regression, Logistic regression, Multinomial Regression, and Tobit regression, were discussed and hands-on experience was provided to the participants. Two important tools, Gretl and JASP, were introduced during the sessions for analyzing the data. Participants were informed on the process of teaching these methods to students, using them in research, and adopting them for consultancy. The MDP ended with questions from the participants.

A webinar session was conducted on the theme Marketing and Social Enterprises by Dr M R Suresh for the incoming PGDM students. The session focused on the importance of integrating the Bottom of Pyramid in the market system to make globalisation meaningful. The poor enthusiastically participate in the market as per research studies. In many situations, giving examples, Dr Suresh highlighted that the Bottom of Pyramid markets became the main business of organisations. A distinction was made between socially responsible businesses and social enterprises. The social enterprise, an emerging form, applies marketing and business principles to achieve social goals. Increasingly sustainability is also getting incorporated in social enterprises. In addition, in the post pandemic era, social and sustainability dimensions are part of brand evaluation by consumers. There are well known brands developed social enterprises in the food and beverage sector. Social enterprises consciously adopt such practices addressing triple bottomline dimensions. Dr Suresh also indicated opportunities for social enterprises in the startup ecosystem with favourable government policies.

The 6th Onboarding Virtual Webinar for the PGDM 2022-2024 was organized on June 17, 2022, on Dynamic leadership for Organizational Excellence. The invited speaker of the webinar Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta, Chairman, AEC, and Professor - OB/HR, SDMIMD, discussed the various leadership types, styles, and leadership effectiveness along with the need for embracing ethical leadership. The webinar witnessed students enthusiastically participating during the session.

A webinar session was conducted on the theme “Communicating Effectively in the Virtual World” by Dr. Neetu Ganapathy, Faculty, SDMIMD, Mysore, for the PGDM 2022-2024 Batch. The final onboarding webinar for the new batch discussed the exploration and usage of online platforms to communicate during the pandemic. Dr. Neetu discussed the good & bad usage of virtual platforms and their impact with anecdotes. The session ended with a discussion about do’s and don’ts while communicating on social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn.
