A webinar on the launch of PGCM with specialization in Investment Banking was held on 23rd July 2021. SDMIMD hosted the webinar along with the knowledge partner 'NSE Academy Ltd, Mumbai'. The Director of SDMIMD, Dr N.R.Parasuraman spoke on the current state of the financial markets and the role of investment bankers in capital market operations. Sri. Abhilash Misra, CEO, NSE Academy, highlighted the career opportunities for investment banking professionals and the required skillsets for taking up investment banking as a specialization. Dr M.V.Sunil, Head-Academic Administration, provided the details about the program structure. Prof. Gandhi, Chairperson-Admissions, spoke on the eligibility and admission process for enrolling for the PGCM program. The webinar was coordinated and moderated by Dr M.Sriram, Associate Professor-Finance, SDMIMD.

Mr. Ajay B. Jamnani, Research Scholar from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Research Center for Management Studies (SDM RCMS) the research unit of SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore, was awarded PhD degree by the University of Mysore, Mysuru, for his thesis ‘A Comparative Analysis of Promotional Strategies of Major E-Commerce Players in India’. The research work was guided by Dr H. Gayathri, Former Deputy Director & Professor - Marketing, SDMIMD, Mysore.

During the year 2020-2021 SDMIMD Toastmasters Club performance has won many accolades including - Spirit of 121 awards; the Super 7 Award; the Open House Citation Award; and the Rising Star Award.

To carry forward the success and the club activities for the year 2021-2022, the new Executive Committee was installed on July 7, 2021 in the presence of the Area Director DTM Kavita Prakash, and Division Director DTM Vaibhav Gupta, Faculty Mentos from SDMIMD Dr. Neetu Ganapathy and Dr. Srilakshminarayana.

The Executive Committee for the year 2021-2022 includes President -TM Nandha Kumar; VP Education - TM Bavithra K; VP Membership – TM Meghana; VP Public Relations – TM Chaithanya JK; Secretary - TM Kolachana Sai Sri Harsha; Treasurer – TM Soumya; and Sergeant at Arms- TM Ananya M Gowda.

Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) has set up nodal centres in Mysore and Dharwad in collaboration with SDMIMD. The Nodal Centre in Mysore will be called the BCIC SDMIMD Centre for Excellence in Management Studies, and will focus on holding corporate programs, training sessions, workshops and leadership conclaves with the support of the corporate executives of the member Institutions of BCIC. A similar centre is being set up in Dharwad called the BCIC Shri Dharmasthala University Centre for Excellence.

SDMIMD in collaboration with CII Mysore Chapter organized webinar on ‘Project Management’ on July 29, 2021. Mr. C.K. Sabareeshan, Director, S3V Vascular Technologies; and, Past Chairman, CII Mysuru, delivered the session. During the event, President of CII Mysore Mr. Pavan G. Ranga, Director, NR Group and MD, Rangsons addressed the gathering on the session theme. Dr. (Lt Col) Prasad S.N., Deputy Director & Professor – Strategy, SDMIMD, anchored and moderated the session.

SDMIMD organized a MDP on Creativity, Innovation, and Design on the virtual platform on July 14, 2021. The program highlighted the need to develop and nurture creativity, innovation, and design skills in all professional fields. Further, the emphasis of this program was on the persistent attitude required for achieving individual, team, and organizational transformation and excellence. Dr S. Saibaba, Assistant Professor – Marketing, and Dr. (Lt Col) Prasad S.N, Deputy Director & Professor – Strategy and General Management, delivered the sessions.

A specialized MDP on 'Red Flags in Finance and Financial Analytics,' held on July 16, 2021. The faculty resource persons Dr. M. Sriram, Associate Professor - Finance, and Dr. K. Riyazahmed, Assistant Professor – Finance, emphasized various approaches that individuals can use in evaluating the financial oddities of a company during the virtual sessions of the program. The program gave a good overview of the emerging techniques of ascertaining signals from financial statements and related records.

The PGDM 2021-2023 Batch had an opportunity to interact with Dr. Elango Rengasamy, Associate Professor of Finance and Program Leader, Global Business Studies (GBS), Dubai – UAE, on July 23, 2021, during the webinar on the topic 'Enlightened on Changing Workplace Paradigms - Upskill yourself to the New Normal.' Dr. Elango Rengasamy discussed why businesses fail at inopportune times and how firms should respond to this new normal. Further, the speaker also addressed the need for reskilling in the post-Covid era and the future role of management graduates in business.

The webinar on 'The emerging habits of Highly Effective Management Students (HEMS): Reminiscing SDMIMD India' delivered by Dr. Stephen Aro-Gordon of Muscat College's Department of Business and Accounting was organized on July 16, 2021. The Webinar was organized as part of the immersion program to introduce the different dimensions of business & management to the new batch of the program. Dr. Stephen asserted that HEMS strives to maximize management education through a purpose-driven, life-long learning approach that focuses on establishing a sense of vision, mission, credos, and the desired transferrable skills and professional values. Based on his memories of the exceptional research and teaching quality provided at the SDMIMD in Mysore, India, the speaker expressed his confidence that new students will find SDMIMD an excellent place to study.
