| Alumnus on Campus – Mr Shivendra Gupta |

Mr Shivendra Gupta, Alumnus of PGDM 2001-03, Co-founder of Samocha Ventures Pvt. Ltd., and a TEDx Speaker, delivered an interactive session on September 24, 2022, on a virtual platform. The interactive session was organized by Swayam - the eCell of SDMIMD, as part of the ‘Entrepreneur Speaks’ Series. Mr Shivendra presented the journey of Samocha: Stories Around Chai - a tea cafe chain focussing on various teas. Samocha is known for its food menu crafted to complement the teas using fresh ingredients and hygienic preparation. The inspirational talk concluded with a Q&A Session. |
| Food Carnival 2022 |

The Student Committee administering and managing the SDMIMD Mess organized the Food Carnival 2022 on September 23, 2022. Executive Chef Selvakumar of ITC Fortune J.P. Palace, Mysore, was the Chief Guest for the event. Mr Selvakumar inaugurated the event and joined the judge from SDMIMD Faculty Team – Dr M.R. Suresh, Dr Mamta Hegde and Prof. S. Kannadas – to judge the dishes presented by the participants during the Carnival. The event provided a wonderful experience for people to savour different cuisines and a platform to showcase their Managerial skills, Time management, Teamwork, and students' competitiveness. |

| 10th International Finance Conference 2022 |

The 10th International Financial Conference (IFC) on Emerging Trends in Corporate Finance and Financial Markets, with the theme - a perspective on financial markets amidst global uncertainties, was inaugurated on October 13, 2022. The decennial edition was inaugurated by Dr S. Devarajan, Sr Vice-president of TVS Motor Ltd and Sr. Vice President of Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC).
The keynote address by Dr Devarajan focused on the paradigm shift in management because of technological advancement in manufacturing. Speaking on the need for manufacturing and management of the supply chain efficiently, he discussed Fishbone 7M Diagram (Material, Methods, Machines, Management, Man, Measurement, Mother Nature). He said all 7 M's together would yield positive effects. Dr S Devarajan stressed how the country has been advancing in manufacturing supply chain technologies by citing many examples. Further, he discussed various tools to measure the change in practice in the industry to streamline the process. Dr Devarajan strongly advocated indigenous manufacturing and imparting education wherein manufacturing is equally vital as services.
Speaking on occasion, Dr N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, shared the perspective on how the capital market in India seems bullish, the progressive effect of investing long term, the company's role in managing such risks and the strategies involved.

Prof. S. Jagadish, Former Professor - Operations, Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore (IIMB), delivered an invited talk for PGDM 2022-24 on November 4, 2022. Prof. Jagadish discusses the values and management principles relevant to the current scenario. Further, the speaker discussed how young managers could achieve identity by following value-based directions. The inspiration talk concluded with an interactive Q&A. The Director of the institute, Dr N.R. Parasuraman and Deputy Director, Dr S.N. Prasad, graced the occasion. |

Dr G. Srilakshminarayana, Faculty, SDMIMD, was invited to present the case ‘Trin-Trin' co-authored with Dr Sunil M.V., Faculty, SDMIMD, during the workshop on Green Initiatives and Innovative approaches in ULBs” at Vikas Soudha. The workshop was organized by the City Managers Association- Karnataka (CMAK), Bengaluru, for the members of the policymakers in Urban Planning, Development, and Management, on October 11, 2022. The case study was about the public bicycle sharing system (PBSS) successfully implemented in Mysore. |
