Panel Discussion on 'What students need to prepare themselves for the next 2 years - expectations'

The orientation invited talks were followed by a Panel Discussion on 'What students need to prepare themselves for the next 2 years - expectations' moderated by Mr Niranjan Naik. The panel members were Mr N. Ravi Shankar, CEO of Aim High Consulting; Mr Theja Mohan, Founder of Wise Money; Mr Pavan Kumar S.H., HR Business Partner, Hitachi Energy India Limited; Mr Anil Ram, Associate Vice President, Ujjivan Small Finance; and Ms Padmashree G.S., Emotional Scientists and Counsellor. The panel discussion concluded with an interactive and informative question & answer session. The panel discussion has been organized as part of the Orientation Program for PGDM 2023-25 batch, held on July 15, 2023.

MBA Na Milegi Dubaara! - N. Ravi Shankar

It was a knowledge & experience sharing, synergy meeting, and fun & exciting- day for SDMIMD's new batch of PGDM 2023-25 Batch on the 'Alumni Day' organized as part of the Orientation Program 2023. SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) organized this synergy meeting between the new students and the alumni members on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at its campus near the foothill of Chamundi. The talk has been organized as part of the Orientation Program for PGDM 2023-25 batch.

Noted columnist, entrepreneur, angel investor, CEO of Aim High and alumnus of the institute, Mr N. Ravi Shankar, in his talk on 'MBA Na Milega Dubara' said, "Two years later, you will walk into a very complex world, further compounded by AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning). One needs to combine our learnings and skill creatively to thrive in a world like that. We need to operate with confidence that whilst. AI can organize and retrieve data and information better than us (human beings), 'Knowledge' and 'Wisdom' are still in the human domain". The message from the speaker to the new batch is to enjoy learning, explore new skills, and enrich themselves to be ready for the corporate world.

Alumni talk by Mr Teja Mohan

Mr Teja Mohan, Founder of Wise Money and alumnus of the institute, in his talk on 'Opportunities in the Finance Sector', said, 'Today's Financial Services Sector is embracing talent from across different disciplines to bring in fresh ideas that can disrupt this space. So I wish the best to all the aspirants who want to pursue careers in this sector full of great opportunities. The Indian Financial Services Sector is as bright a star as our Indian Economy at this opportune time. MBA students who aspire to take up careers in the Financial Services Sector can look forward to the immense opportunities available in this space if they hone their skill sets to take on the challenging dynamics of this sector.' Alumni talk by Mr Niranjan Naik

Mr Niranjan Naik, President, Prerana - SDMIMD Alumni Association; and Senior Consultant - Prominent Minds and Bosch, introduced the objective and activities of the association to the new students and called upon to join the online portal to interact with nearly 3000 alumni members spread across the world. He said, 'in today's VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) world Network is Net Worth. Young managers should look beyond social media for networking and start interacting in the physical world'. The talk has been organized as part of the Orientation Program for PGDM 2023-25 batch, held on July 15, 2023.

Prerana Invited Talk – Mr Vijay Kumar

‘Integrity, Situational Awareness, Financial Knowledge, Investing Experience, Credibility in the Market and Network with Financial Professionals, are the core qualities for a wealth manager. Often wealth management is linked to the financial stream, but it is a blended combination of finance and sales’ thus said Mr. Vijay Kumar, Alumnus of PGDM 2009-21 Batch and Independent Financial Advisor and Wealth Manager, on February 3, 2023 at SDMIMD.

Mr Vijay said that the with the increase in the global wealth the private wealth sector is showing significant growth. The role of private wealth manager is becoming more relevant and significant to navigate the complexities of financial markets for the individual investors.

The talk introduced the students on campus about this avenue and how they have to prepare themselves to enter this domain.

Invited Talk on ‘Presenting Analytical Insights

Mr Kiran Sathyanarayan, Advisor, Data Science, Dell Technologies, was invited to deliver a talk on 'Presenting Analytical Insights' on November 14, 2022. The session was organized as part of the business intelligence course as part of the PGDM Program. The interactive session introduced the various nuances and techniques of understanding & presenting analytical insights.

Evolution of Digital Payment – Talk by Alumnus

Mr. Abhijit Korti, SDMIMD Alumnus & AVP – Digital Banking, Jana Small Finance Bank, addressed the new batch of the PGDM Program during Orientation Program on July 9, 2022. Mr. Abhijit focused his talk on ‘Evolution of Digital Payment in India’ introducing the journey of the digital payment system and the changing dynamics of work, workforce, and workplace in the digital world. The talk helped the new bees to realize and understand the additional skills needed apart from the prescribed studies to be in the race in the digital world. The talk concluded with a Q&A session.

Opportunities in the Finance Sector – Talk by Alumnus

The informative and motivational talk by SDMIMD Alumnus Mr. Harinath Gopalswamy, CEO-Fintelligence, was organized on July 9, 2022, as part of the Orientation Program for the PGDM 2022-2024. Mr. Harinath introduced the various avenues and opportunities in various domains of the finance sector in the current corporate world. The preparation demanded having a perfect credential to meet the aimed role was discussed with necessary skill enhancement courses available in the MOOC platform were shared. The new batch had a great Q&A session with Mr. Harinath.

HR Challenges during Post COVID – Talk by Alumnus

‘The talent acquisition, retention, and management during the post-COVID scenario have challenged the HR domain. The challenges have made the corporates prioritize employee wellbeing and build their strategies around a Human-centered environment where talent retention is the key’ thus said Mr. Sandesh Murchy, SDMIMD Alumnus and Director, HRSDX JAPAC, Oracle, during the invited talk organized on July 9, 2022. Mr. Sandesh was delivering the talk on ‘HR Challenges in the Post-COVID scenario’ to the PGDM 2022-2024 Batch. The talk was organized as part of the Orientation Program 2022.
