Technical Session Speaker – Mr. Pawan Kumar Kopparam

The technical session speaker of International Finance Conference 2017 on Day-2, August 19, 2017 Mr. Pawan Kumar Kopparam, Associate Vice-President, Investment Advisory, explained the global financial crisis; and presented the role of – Government, Banks and Borrowers with various Infographics which helped them understand the Global financial crisis better. Mr. Pawan Kumar shared the lessons learnt from this crisis. 

Technical Session Speaker – Mr Swaminathan Santhanam

Mr Swaminathan Santhanam, Independent IT Solutions Consultant, the technical session speaker on the Day-One of the International Finance Conference 2017 on August 18, 2017, talked about the start of the internet giving an example of escape browser as well as the evolution of digital age from Analogue-Digital-Connected (internet)-Social media to Smartphones on today’s date. Mr. Santhanam opined that almost 50 to 60% businesses are not prepared for the digital age in India the digital age is going to disrupt these unprepared businesses. Further he said, ‘In today’s digital age the average lifespan of a company has come down to 10 to 15 years from 60 years in the 80s and 90s.’ In order to sustain, should adapt to digital age’s changes and focus on advanced data analysis, RPA, cloud and SaaS’.

Technical Session Speaker – Mr Manoj Pasangha

The technical session speaker Mr Manoj Pasangha, Senior Vice President, Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited, Hyderabad, emphasised about the growth and importance of microfinance industries in India. Speaking on the Day-One of the International Finance Conference 2017 on August 18, 2017, shared his views on the development in technology which is leveraged to make the banking procedure more efficient and effective. Mr Manoj shared the success story about SKS Finance, biggest microfinance organisation in the country and its strategic reforms in the rural areas of India. Further, he discussed on how the organisation was successful in empowering women during demonetisation by enabling them to adopt technology in their monetary transactions. 

Sports Talk Series – Talk by Mr Arjun Goutham

‘Sport is always considered being second to academics in this country, slowly but surely things have been changing and sport is heading in the right direction’ thus opined Mr.  Arjun Goutham, Mind Coach, during the Sports Talk delivered to students of Sports Management Course on August 12, 2017. Mr. Arjun speaking on the topic ‘Taking a Stand for the Future of Indian Sports’ gave light to aspiring sports management students about the power of the mind and its' utilisation in the field of sports. He called upon the students to make the recommendations based on their experience to change the face of sports and take a stand to create a difference for the coming generations. The interactive talk gave an insight about how clear and progressive thought process could bring about a revolution in sports in this country.

Talk by Sports Course Brand Ambassador

Former international tennis player and Brand Ambassador of SDMIMD and CS&MS Sports Management Course Mr. Somdev Devvarman said that there was a pressing need to promote sports at the grassroots level in the country. Mr. Somdev was delivering the talk on ‘Training and Development of an Athlete - Achieving Excellence in Sport’ to the students of Sports Management Course and invited sports professionals on July 20, 2017 at MDP Hall, SDMIMD. Former tennis ace highlighted need for training & developing sporting talent and sport managers in India to emerge as a major sporting nation in coming years. Earlier, senior tennis coach & Founder Member of CS&MS Mr. Enrico Preperno, welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker of the Sports Talk Series. Mr. Arijith Ghosh, Honorary Member of CS&MS and faculty of the course delivered the Vote of Thanks. Sports Course Program Director Dr. H. Gayathri, faculty members of the institute and invitees were present.

Mr. Harsha Aadya, Managing Director, Wuerth Electronik India on Campus

Mr Harsha Aadya, MD, Wuerth Electonik India, was invited to address the PGDM 2017-19 batch as a part of the Orientation Program 2017. Mr. Aadya spoke about the importance of having a vision and goal and what the corporate world is expecting from the employees. During the course of his lecture, Mr Harsha Aadya also spoke about the leadership. The Q&A session was highly interactive and informative. 
 

Session by Emeritus Professor - Dr. Shamanna

Dr K. Shamanna, HR Consultant and Trainer addressed the first year students on June 20, 2017 at SDMIMD Auditorium.  Dr. Shamanna said how students can be change agents in organizations that are in. He emphasised the need for having positive attitude, enthusiasm and team work, during the session. The professor also stressed on the fact that collaboration is more essential than competition.
 

Interactive session on ‘Counselling’

Counsellor and Trainer Ms. Ruchika Naidu addressed the new PGDM 2017-19 batch on June 18, 2017. The interactive session covered the various aspects of counselling, such as ‘what is counselling?’, ‘Why people need counselling?’, and other myths about counselling. The session had role plays from students. There were other fun activities as part of the session. 
 

Session on Wellness Management

Mr. Brahmavar Raghunath Pai (BR Pai), a well-known industrialist, philanthropist, civic leader, wellness promoter and public speaker from Mysore, spoke on ‘Wellness Management’ on June 17, 2017 as a part of Orientation Program 2017. Mr Pai introduced the concept of Total Wellness Management and presented the comparison between healthcare and wellness. Imparting the difference between proactive and reactive measures in Wellness, he called that the students remain active, physically and mentally.
