Motivational talk by Prof. Parashivamurthy

Prof. D. Parashivamurthy, Motivational Speaker, NLP Trainer, and Faculty at Government First Grade College for Women, Mysore, spoke on the topic ‘Winners make it happen, Losers let it happen’ on July 5, 2022, as part of the Orientation Program 2022. 
 
Prof. Parashivamurthy said ‘Communication, leadership, and self-motivation are core skills that help the individual to optimize enterprise performance and longevity of serving in any organization. These skills should also help the personal life towards meeting the sustained appropriate traits of personal responsibility and accomplishing the family responsibilities.’

Workshop on imperatives in Social Responsibilities

Prof. C.V. Sridhar, Faculty – General Management and Manager - Administration, SDMIMD, conducted a workshop for the sections of the PGDM 2022-2024 on July 5 & 6, 2022 as part of the Orientation Program 2022. The workshop focused on sensitizing the young manager toward their responsibility for society and introducing them to the social-centric philosophy of Dharmasthala. 

Workshop on Design Thinking

To cultivate empathy and build the concepts with social inclusion for real challenges an activity-based workshop on design thinking was conducted for the PGDM 2022-2024 Batch. The workshop was conducted section-wise during the Orientation Program 2022 on July 5 & 6, 2022. Dr. Sunil M.V., Head – Academic Administration, and Faculty – General Management, SDMIMD, was the faculty resource for the workshop. 

Workshop to Indian Society in Transition

Dr R. Indira Ramarao, Member of the Governing Board of SDMIMD and Formerly Professor of Sociology & Former Director, International Center, University of Mysore, conducted a section-wise focused Workshop on Indian Society in Transition to the PGDM 2022-2024 Batch. The Workshop was organized as a part of the Orientation Program 2022 for the PGDM program on July 4 & 5, 2022. 

Young Leadership Development (YLD) program for Rane Group

The Young Leadership Development (YLD) program for Rane Group was inaugurated on July 4, 2022. The YLD is aimed at enabling matured individual contributors in the Rane Group to successfully transition into first-time managers. The 5-day program is spread over three (3) modules and designed to develop foundations of strong leadership. 32 young leaders from various functions across the Rane Group are participating in the program. 

SDMIMD inaugurates PGDM 2022-24 Batch

SDMIMD has inaugurated the 2022-24 Batch of the 2-Year Full-time MBA Equivalent program. The inauguration program was presided over by Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD. Prof. L. Gandhi, Chairman - Admissions, SDMIMD, welcomed and introduced the batch. A total of 180 students from 17 Indian states have been admitted this year with a healthy gender ratio of 65% Male and 35% Female. The academic diversity of the batch includes undergraduates from Engineering, Commerce, Management, Science, and others with 17% of the work experience in the batch. 
 
Dr. Parasuraman in his address called upon the students to imbibe the culture and tradition of Dharmasthala philosophy focused on the service to society. Dr. Parasuraman asked the students to dedicate the 2 years of PGDM to the new beginning and use the academic & service facilities for holistic development to make them ready to enter the corporate world. He briefed the students about the new course offering in collaboration with the TCSiON and the modular specialization in Environmental, Social, and Governance [ESG] which will be introduced this year.

Webinar on Communicating Effectively in the Virtual World

A webinar session was conducted on the theme “Communicating Effectively in the Virtual World” by Dr. Neetu Ganapathy, Faculty, SDMIMD, Mysore, for the PGDM 2022-2024 Batch. The final onboarding webinar for the new batch discussed the exploration and usage of online platforms to communicate during the pandemic. Dr. Neetu discussed the good & bad usage of virtual platforms and their impact with anecdotes. The session ended with a discussion about do’s and don’ts while communicating on social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn.

CSP for Executives from Wurth Electronics

A Company Specific Program (CSP) was designed and offered to the executives of the Wurth electronics, Mysuru. The 3-Months series program which is scheduled to be held at SDMIMD and Wurth at regular intervals was inaugurated on June 27, 2022. The first in this series was conducted on June 27, 2022, at SDMIMD. 

MDP on Emotional Intelligence for Effective leadership

Emotional intelligence has gained momentum over the years, in managing emotions intelligently and dealing with people’s issues at the workplace. Especially, in the context of leadership effectiveness, this concept has proved to be imperative, in today’s business. Considering the prevailing situation, SDMIMD organized Management Development Program (MDP) on ‘Emotional Intelligence for Effective Leadership’, on June 27, 2022.
 
The MDP aimed at facilitating the participants to appraise and appreciate issues and concerns a leader encounter in organizational situations while dealing with people, both individually and in teams. Through experiential learning and simulations, the program deliberated the various ways of leading in organizations, with the help of Emotional Intelligence, as an effective tool. Topics, such as leadership styles, leading teams, managing conflict, and emotion management, were discussed.
 
SDMIMD Professors in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources - Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta, and Dr. Mousumi Sengupta were the resource persons for the program.
