Doctoral Research Program at SDMIMD

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Research Center for Management Studies (SDM RCMS), the research unit of SDMIMD has been recognized as Doctoral Research Center by the Tumkur University, Karnataka. The center extends professional guidance and assistance to the research aspirants in the area of Management Studies and the successful research works will be awarded the doctoral degree by the Tumkur University. Detailed rules for the purpose are under formulation.

Adopt and Nurture a School Program

Students of SDMIMD are known to make things different. As a part of social responsibility, SDMites donated furniture to Government Senior Higher Primary School, KARP Body Guard Line, Siddarthanagar, Mysore. During the past 4 years SDMIMD is supporting the said school in developing infrastructure facility and contributing towards softskills development of children. Requirements in the area of sports, excursions and extra learning have been also met by SDMIMD student community.

66th Independence Day Celebration

SDMites celebrated 66th Independence Day at their campus with full of pomp and gaiety. Prof. R. Jagadeesh unfurled the National Flag and shared some of his experience at Philadelphia and highlighted the importance of our National Anthem. Dr N.R. Parasuraman Director, gave away the certificates to students who won at various tournament held at the Institute. Ms Shilpa Giri, Ms Mythri HN and Mr Kunal Kumar shared their thoughts on the occasion with the flashback of freedom struggle, Legacies left by the past leaders and India's achievements. Later, after the community breakfast at Institute's Mess, the Sports Committee Members organized "Scholars Sports Carnival" which went on throughout the day and attracted one and all. Sports events Viz. Tug of War, Throw Ball, Volley Ball, Three Legged Race, Aiming the wicket, Bucket the TT Ball, Fast walk with hurdles of eating bananas and blowing the balloon, Sack Race and Basket Ball were organized.

International conference on “Emerging Trends in Finance and Accounting”

It was as though SDMIMD campus had turned into a virtual "global finance village" on 3rd and 4th of August 2012, with the presence of Academicians, Corporate Executives and Research Students from India and abroad on the occasion of "International Conference on Emerging Trends in Finance & Accounting". Shri Pascal Alan Nazareth Former Ambassador, Govt. of India, delivered key note address. The conference witnessed presentation of 58 research papers in the area of finance and accounting by the participants from India and abroad.

Foundation Day Lecture

Founder and Chairman, Narayana Hrudayalaya group of hospitals Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty opined that the health sector would drive the world economy in future. Delivering the Foundation Day Lecture at the campus on July 21, 2012, he advised the students to consider the growth factor of any industry before opting for their career. Health sector is one among them with a size of $ 2.5 Trillion, which is second after agro industry in India. Earlier Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman, SDM Educational Trust, in his speech extolled Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty for initiating Yashaswini Scheme by which lakhs of farmers from rural region could be able to avail medical care in the State.

Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, welcomed the gathering and shared the journey of SDMIMD from 1993. Dr. H. Gayathri, Dean Administration, introduced Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty to the audience. Prof. M.R. Suresh proposed the vote of thanks. The lecture was followed by the question and answers session which was interactive, informative and illustrative.

Seminar on Traditional Health Systems

A seminar on ‘Opportunities and challenges for traditional health systems’ was held at SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) on July 10, 2012.

G.N. Srikantaiah, Director, Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Sidda and Homeopathy (AYUSH), Government of Karnataka, who was the guest of honour, inaugurated the seminar.

SDM Institute for Management Development (SDM-IMD), Mysore; the Department of AYUSH, Government of Karnataka; Global Alliance of Traditional Health Systems (GATHS), Mysore; and Mind Body Spirit Society of India (MBSSI), Mysore, had jointly organised the seminar.

CPBM Concludes

CPBM The theoretical sessions of Certificate Program in Business Management, the Executive version of our flagship program Post Graduation Diploma in Management (PGDM) concluded on May 27, 2012. The Participating Business executives are now on their 10 hours of project assignment. The pedagogy designed for the working executives was interactive and application-oriented to encourage participatory learning. The program was intended to gear participants to face intense competition in the external environment in which they operate.
