Abhigyaan 2017 - Under Graduate Management Fest

SDMIMD conducted Abhigyaan ’17 the annual fest for undergraduate students. 200+ young graduates from colleges across Karnataka participated in various management events like Best Manager, Marketing, Finance, HR, Entrepreneurship and events like Quiz, Treasure hunt, Street Play etc. The Day 1 culminated with cultural competitions like Singing, Dancing and Fashion show. 
 
This years’ Abhigyaan saw a new addition i.e Sports, where sporting events like Cricket, Football and Badminton where held. At the end of Day 2 the prize distribution ceremony was held and our Director, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman along with the other faculty members distributed the prizes to the winning teams.

SDMIMD bags Best Decorative Garden during Dasara 2017

SDMIMD is proud of its picturesque campus and green courtyards with verdant environs. The garden known for landscape, decorative plants and fruit garden has won the 'Best Decorative Garden' award in Educational Institution category during the Dasara Flower Show Competition 2017 organized by Department of Horticulture, Mysore Zilla Panchyath in association with District Horticulturists Association.Over the years, the SDMIMD garden has received great appreciation from the visitors to the campus and consistently for 7 successive years garden has won the award during Dasara Flower Show Competition.

Abhigyaan 2017 - A fest for Undergraduate


 
ABHIGYAAN is an undergraduate national level fest. The flagship B-fest organized by SDMIMD, Mysore. It is held every year in the SDMIMD college campus with active participation of undergraduates from different colleges in India. The intention of ABHIGYAAN is to expose MBA aspirants to life in a B-school. ABHIGYAAN has been successful in branding SDMIMD in the minds of MBA aspirants as a prospective B-School to pursue management education.
 

ABHIGYAAN’17 is scheduled to be held on 5th and 6th October 2017. Participants have an opportunity to win cash prizes up to Rs. 1, 40, 000 and many more gifts and gift hampers.

Entrepreneurship workshop by Dr Pavan Soni

Dr. Pavan Soni, CEO and Founder of Inflexion Consulting, conducted ‘Entrepreneurship Workshop’ on September 21, 2017 for the PGDM 2016-18 Batch. Dr. Pavan Soni an innovation evangelist explained the forces behind the rise in entrepreneurs in India and the rest of the world. Quoting examples of entrepreneurs who have made it big, presented the status report of entrepreneurship world to the young mangers. 
 
The workshop included group activity. Each group presented the scenario on a selected sector focused on entrepreneur problems, customer, and employee perspective. The 5 step process which includes discovery, interpretation, ideation, experimentation and evolution, was exercised in this activity lead to the Empathy mapping, Pain-gain Analysis, and, Day in a life scenario. 
 
True to the saying ‘a problem fully understood is half solved’, Dr. Soni stressed upon the importance of identifying a problem and finding a solution and then converting it into a business.

Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Honorable Chairman, SDMIMD and Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala visited the institute on September 8, 2017. Dr. Heggade interacted with the students during campus visit and addressed the faculty members during the visit. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director briefed the Chairman Dr. Heggade about the activities and achievements of SDMIMD.

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) students committee - Library Initiative For Education (LIFE) conducted Essay Competition for the 6th and 7th Standard Students of Aadarsha Vidyalaya School in Police Jockey Quarters on the topic 'My Favorite Teacher' on the occasion of Teachers Day Celebration on September 5, 2017.

The prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition Ms. Eaktha M.G. (First Prize) and Ms. L. Pratiksha (Second Prize) of 6th Standard and Ms. K. Supriya Gowda (First Prize) and Mr. Prabhanjan (Second Prize) of 7th Standard. Mr. Vignesh S. Goankar, Business Analyst, ISAC Business Consultancy, Bengaluru, addressed the young children and called upon the young minds to have a strong communication skills to excel in public relationship and make themselves strong in basics. Further, he said ‘never leave any opportunity which knocks your door as we don’t know when our life can take a turn towards success.’

Mr. Sathish, Head Master of the School, Teachers, LIFE committee members, Volunteers, Dr. Sunil M.V., Librarian and Ms. Rekha Ganapathy, Admission Officer of SDMIMD joined the prize distribution function.

It can be recalled here the recent success story of LIFE Committee in developing a school library for the young children at Aadarsha Vidhyalaya School. 

Financial Support to NGO's by SDMIMD Students

As a part of social responsibility activity, students of SDMIMD extended financial support to schools run by NGO's - Sneha Kirana Spastic Society; Purna Chetana Public School; Divya Deepa Charitable Trust's Kaliyuva Mane School; Arivu Vidya Samsthe; and Nireekshe School for Special Children. 

As in the previous years’ students extended the contribution to Asha Kirana Hospital serving the HIV infected patients. Sri C.V. Sridhar, Administrative Officer and Dr. Sunil M.V., Librarian joined the students during this support activity. 

Visit of Mr. Jeffrey Alderman, President, ACBSP

Mr Jeffrey Alderman, President and CEO, Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP), USA, visited the Institute on Thursday, August 31, 2017. SDMites had an opportunity to hear from the ACBSP President and interact.

Mr. Alderman during his talk elucidated on what accreditation signifies and particularly what the ACBSP accreditation means. He said, ‘There are only 7% business schools in the world to have this accreditation and you, the students of SDMIMD, are fortunate that you are getting to study in such a prestigious institute.’

Mr Alderman, while talking about the standards of ACBSP that are used for the accreditation process, briefly talked about the evolution of these and continuous revision. To give students a glimpse of the corporate world he shared some of his personal work life experiences which emphasized on time management to build a good career.

The talk concluded with an active question and answer session. While answering the difference between Indian B-School Students to the rest, Mr. Alderman said, ‘Indian students have an IT advantage. Be it in my own organisation or somewhere else – one thing I noticed common in Indian students is that they are good at information technology and that puts them ahead of the rest of the  competitors.’

Later, Mr. Alderman addressed the Faculty and Staff Members, and was interviewed by students for their online magazine “Dimensions”.
