The Outbound Training (OBT) program for the Workplace Learning and Development (WLD) students held at LEAD College of Management in Palakkad, Kerala, from September 3rd to 5th, 2024, was a transformative experience for the participants. The program offered a mix of individual outdoor activities like trekking, 90-degree walking, ziplining, fire walking, and wall climbing, alongside team-based activities such as "The Mission Impossible," "Tyre Wall," “passing the rope”, “balancing on bricks”, “Team plank walking” and "Water Crossing. Team activities emphasized the importance of collective success, with participants learning the value of diverse perspectives and the power of aligning around a shared vision to overcome challenges. Meanwhile, individual challenges encouraged participants to confront their fears, develop mental resilience, and take the first step in overcoming obstacles. Together, these experiences equipped participants to navigate future challenges with greater confidence.
The program also fostered personal growth and leadership skills, laying a strong foundation for students' academic and professional journeys. The entrepreneurial spirit and hospitality of the students were evident throughout the program. A particularly memorable moment was when the Dr. Thomas, Chairman, LEAD shared an analogy about how pots are molded through pain and hard work, leaving a lasting impression on the participants. The outbound faculty trainer, Prof. Sijin, kept energy levels high, pushing students to complete tasks and overcome their fears. Overall, the OBT program profoundly impacted the participants, fostering personal and collective growth. The faculty in charge of the OBT is Dr. L. Gandhi, Associate Professor- OB&HRM, SDMIMD.
