ERP in the Age of Intelligent Enterprises: Insights from SAP Labs India Leader at SDMIMD

SDMIMD hosted an insightful session on the evolution and future of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems by Mr. Sudhir S. Mysore, Director – Engineering, SAP Labs, as part of the Business Information Systems (BIS) course for the PGDM 2025–27 batch.
 
With over two decades of global experience across Infosys, IBM, SAP, Mr. Sudhir traced ERP’s journey from the mainframe and MRP era of the 1960s to today’s cloud-native, AI-driven intelligent enterprise platforms. He explained how modern ERP has transformed from a back-office system into the digital nervous system of organizations, enabling real-time decision-making across finance, supply chain, procurement, and production.
 
Highlighting advancements such as AI-assisted planning, predictive analytics, and integration suites, he emphasized that ERP systems now shape agility, competitiveness, and global operational efficiency.
 
Mr. Sudhir stressed that ERP literacy is a non-negotiable skill for future managers, as enterprises increasingly seek leaders who can bridge business understanding with digital capability.
 
The session strengthened SDMIMD’s commitment to preparing students for technology-led managerial roles in a rapidly evolving business landscape.

SDMIMD has once again demonstrated its excellence in management education by securing impressive positions in The Week - Hansa Research Survey of B-Schools 2025. The institute has been ranked 53rd among 233 B-Schools in the Overall Ranking, reaffirming its strong national presence and academic quality.
 
Among private institutions, SDMIMD stands out prominently with a 37th position out of 211 Private B-Schools (Overall), reflecting the institute’s commitment to delivering value-driven and industry-aligned management education.
 
Regionally, SDMIMD continues to excel in the southern zone by securing the 14th position among 95 B-Schools in the South Zone (Overall Ranking). Further, the institute has achieved an impressive 9th place among 89 Private B-Schools in the South Zone, showcasing its leadership and consistent performance in the region.
 
These rankings underscore SDMIMD’s dedication to academic excellence, innovative teaching methodologies, strong industry interface, and holistic student development—reinforcing its reputation as a top choice for management aspirants.

10th International Economics Conference

The 10th International Economics Conference was successfully hosted by SDMIMD, Mysuru, on November 27, 2025 on the theme “Economic Growth and Sustainable Development: Emerging Trends.” 
 
The event was inaugurated by Maj. Gen. Rajiv Narayanan (Retd.), AVSM, VSM, Professor of Practice at IIT Madras, who delivered the inaugural address vividly narrating the changing landscape of the geo-politics and its implications on the Indian Economy. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. M. S. Sriram, Professor at IIM Bangalore. He emphasized the importance of innovating and adopting sustainability-oriented development models to make development more inclusive and sustainable.
Dr. (Lt. Col.) S. N. Prasad, Director, SDMIMD, delivered the opening remarks and stressed on need for the revival of co-operative models for agricultural sustainability. Dr. Venkatraja B., Associate Professor – Economics and Chairperson of the Conference presented a brief review of the global uncertainties and the challenges they pose to the countries like India. Deliberating the challenges of the development and ways of strengthening the resilience was pointed as the key purpose of the event.  

 
In a technical session Mr. Anupam Bajpai, National Head – CSR, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd., New Delhi, spoke on how to leverage CSR for inclusive and sustainable growth in India. Additionally, a panel discussion on “Inclusivity and Sustainability: Strategic Pathways to Viksit Bharat” brought together eminent experts, including Dr. P. G. Yogindra, Former Executive Director, HAL; Mr. Ananta Hegde, Chief General Manager, Bank Note Paper Mill India Private Limited, Mysore; Ms. Beena Ramachandran, Senior Vice President, HCL; Mr. Praveen Urs, Director – Climate Change & Sustainability, KBS Certification Services Ltd.; and Dr. (Lt. Col.) S. N. Prasad, Director, SDMIMD. The session was moderated by Dr. Venkatraja B. The panel deliberated the strategic aspects of inclusivity, responsibility and sustainability practices to be adopted to make India a Viksit Bharat by 2047.  
 
The conference concluded with the valedictory session delivered by Ms. Dipti Despande, Principal Economist at CRISIL Ltd, Mumbai. While presenting the macroeconomic outlook of the Indian economy, she said that India is on the right spot of growth amidst global uncertainties, but private investment and healthy fiscals of states are critical areas to deal with. 
 
The conference had discussions on 163 research papers aligned with the theme across multiple track sessions. A total of 215 participants, including academicians, experts, research scholars, and practitioners from various institutions across the country and a few from abroad took part in the event. The conference provided a valuable platform for academic dialogue, knowledge exchange, and meaningful discussions on emerging trends in economic growth and sustainable development.
 
The event was conceptualised, designed and executed by the Conference Chairperson Dr B Venkatraja, Associate Professor of Economics, SDMIMD and was meticulously convened and coordinated by Prof. Venkatesh Goudar and Ms. Gayithri of SDMIMD. 

Empowering Future Food Technologists: SDMIMD Successfully Delivers Soft Skills Program at CSIR-CFTRI

SDMIMD has successfully concluded the Soft Skills and Humanities Course for the Master of Science in Food Technology program at CSIR–Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI).
 
Over a span of three months, the course offered comprehensive training in essential soft skills, covering topics such as Work Ethics & Research Integrity, Communication Foundations, Personal Goal Setting & Motivation, Personal Effectiveness, Presentation & Storytelling, Basics of Product Development Cost Estimation, Interview Preparation, Creativity & Innovation, Resume Building, Aptitude Preparation, Group Discussion & Personal Interview, and Advanced Data Analysis.
 
The program provided a highly enriching teaching–learning experience for both SDMIMD faculty and CSIR-CFTRI students. It opened new avenues for learners to enhance their professional competencies and explore diverse opportunities in soft skill development.
 
This course is designed, managed and coordinated by by Dr. Nandakishore Shetty, Associate Professor – Marketing and Chairperson of Management Development Programs, and Dr. Sunil M. V., Assistant Professor – Systems & General Management and Coordinator of the Soft Skills and Humanities Course. 

Ideas Matter Most - 2025

SDMIMD, Mysuru successfully hosted Ideas Matter Most – 2025 on the theme “Entrepreneurship for Nation Building: The Blueprint for Developed India.” held on November 22, 2025, This year’s edition focused on inspiring success stories from the corporate sector, the importance of wellbeing and spirituality at the workplace, and the emerging concepts of mindfulness and Eco spirituality.
 
Ideas Matter Most – 2025 brought together eminent achievers from diverse fields to share their thought processes, transformative ideas, and valuable guidance for budding entrepreneurs at SDMIMD. The distinguished speakers included Mr. Siddharth Jagani, Founding Member – Product and Growth, InPrimeFinserv; Dr. Anshul Gupta, Founder –TheCorporateSpirituality.com; Author, Researcher, and Consultant; Mr. Manu Singh, Chairman – Sarva Dharma Samvaad; Meditative Living Practitioner, Eco-Spiritualist, and Interfaith & Intercultural Dialogue Expert; Mr. Ravindra M. K., Founding Member – BHIVE Workspace; Entrepreneur, Ecosystem Builder, and Endurance Athlete.

Ms. Krupa Shetty of SDMIMD, Mysuru, Appointed Campus Reporter for Business Standard

Ms. Krupa Shetty, a student of SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysuru, has been selected as a Campus Reporter by the prestigious Business Standard newspaper. SDMIMD Stars Shine at Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli Management Fest!

Students from SDMIMD, Mysuru made an impressive mark at the prestigious Management Fest hosted by Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), Trichy, securing top positions across multiple events and bringing immense pride to the institution.
 
In the Operations event, Krupa Shetty, Pareekshith Gokhale, and Dhanush G. emerged as the winners, showcasing exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Writtika Das demonstrated outstanding leadership and strategic acumen to clinch the first place in the Best Manager category. The Finance team comprising Sai Teja Vura, Aniket Burnwal, and Abhay Baliga B secured the top position with their sharp financial insights and teamwork. In the Pitch & Propel event, Naren Sateesh, Shameera I., and Siddharth Singh impressed the judges with their innovation and presentation skills, earning first place. Adding a cultural touch to the celebration, Akhil P. Chandrasekhar won the first runner-up position in the Solo Singing event with his captivating performance.

Bridging Classrooms and Corporate: A Guest Session on Value-Based Selling

At SDMIMD, learning extends beyond textbooks—true understanding emerges where academic knowledge meets industry experience. To strengthen this vital connection, the Institute regularly invites industry leaders to share practical insights and engage with students.
 
As part of the course “Personal Selling Techniques,” SDMIMD had the privilege of hosting Mr. Praveen Shetti, Divisional Head – Berger Paints, Mysuru. With over 17 years of experience in sales, Mr. Shetti currently oversees the sales operations of Berger Paints across 13 districts in Karnataka.
 
During the session, Mr. Shetti provided valuable perspectives on value-based and consultative selling, drawing from his extensive experience in the Fast-Moving Consumer Durables (FMCD), particularly in the Construction Materials segment. He highlighted that selling high-involvement products goes beyond persuasion—it requires understanding customer needs, fostering trust, and consistently delivering long-term value.
 
The interactive discussion enabled students to connect classroom concepts with real-world applications, reinforcing the importance of value creation, relationship-building, and strategic selling in today’s dynamic marketplace.

Guest talk on Sales and Distribution Management

As part of the Sales and Distribution Management (SADMA) course under the Marketing specialization, SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysuru, organized a guest lecture on Sales and Distribution Management. The session was delivered by Mr. Sachin Kamath, Area Sales Manager – Appliances Division (Telangana), TTK Prestige Ltd., Hyderabad, and a proud alumnus of SDMIMD.
 
Mr. Kamath provided an in-depth perspective on the dynamics of sales and distribution. He emphasized that sales is a science, rooted in understanding consumer and retailer behavior and developing strategies accordingly. The session shed light on the three key types of marketing—primary, secondary, and tertiary—and how planning varies across these stages.
 
Highlighting the importance of research in sales, Mr. Kamath elaborated on various forms such as product research, competitor analysis, mystery shopping, communication research, and white space analysis, illustrating each with real-world examples.
 
He also discussed several practical aspects of sales and marketing, including tertiary designs, ARD appointments, dealer meets, sales planning, and incentive structures. Through insightful case studies and industry experiences, Mr. Kamath helped students connect theory with real-time business practices.
 
The session was coordinated by Dr. Nandakishore Shetty, Associate Professor – Marketing. Students of the Sales and Distribution Management course actively participated and gained valuable insights into the practical side of marketing management.
