First Prize in Flight of fancy 2013

Ms. Sudipta Pan of PGDM 2013-15 batch has won First Prize in Flight of fancy 2013 - Creative writing competition conducted under the auspices of Literati at  Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB).

SDMIMD Student Excels!!

Mr Deepak Nesarikar Second year PGDM Student is one among the six winners in a National level B School competition organized by ABP Pvt Ltd. Kolkata. Mr Nesarikar's article "Empowerment & Social Businesses" was adjudged one among top six papers by Talent Partner KPMG India and will be published in IFLA 2013 Compendium. The top six winners will be making a 5 minute presentation during Finale on December 6th 2013 at ITC Sonar Kolkata to win prize money.

Ms. Akshata U and Mr. Abhinav Pandey PGDM Batch 2012-14 have won first prize in inter college paper presentation contest conducted by ICICI Direct on the topic "Effectiveness of Social Media in Financial Services"

Another feather on SDMIMD Academic's cap

A Text Book with a difference, covering basic tenets of finance, appropriate and friendly to MBA  Students, Finance Professionals and Non Finance Managers, "Financial Management: A Step-by- Step Approach" is authored by Dr. N.R. Parasuraman Director & Professor in Finance SDM IMD. The  book has been published by Cengage Learning India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. Earlier, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman has also authored “Fundamentals of Financial Derivatives”, which is ranked among the Top 10 Management Books by Business Standard in the year 2009 and it is widely read by students in pursuit of management education.
 

Kalanubhav 2013

Kalanubhav - a student body of SDMIMD organized a violin concert by Vidwan H.S. Krishnamurthy on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 4:30 PM. Vidwan HSK was accompanied with Shri H.S. Sudheendra on the Mridanga and Shri  G.S. Ramanujan on Ghatam. The cultural event was open for public. Kalanubhav - is a student committee with the objective of propagating all forms of Indian art to the students of the Institute. 

MoU between SDMIMD and British University Dubai (BUiD)

SDMIMD while meeting Value Proportion in Branding has entered Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with British University - Dubai with effect from November 2013. With this MoU, arrangements have been set for student exchange for a full term or a portion thereof, faculty exchange, and, special short-duration programs for students. 

Guest lecture by Mr. Dheeraj Shetty

Mr.Dheeraj Shetty is the HR- Admin at JBF petrochemicals Ltd. Mangalore. On 17th November, 2013, he enlightened the students on the ‘Dynamics of managing workforce in Manufacturing Sector’. He had incorporated the style of activity based learning, wherein the students had a conceptualized learning experience. He gave an overall perspective of the Human Resource functions in an organization. Mr. Dheeraj was of the view that, a manager can be a HR but it needs a lot more differentiation for a person to become a good Human Resource person.

Blood Donation Camp

"The blood you donate gives someone another chance at life". SDMites are always seen coming forward with great enthusiasm, to address social issues whenever the situations call for the same. Sunday, 17th  November 2013, was a day with difference at Institute's Wellness Center, as students as many as 61 in number donated their blood to the Medical Team from Rotary Chandrakala Hospital Mysore. 

150th Birth year Celebrations of Swami Vivekananda

“The country can see a radical change if the youth advocated the principles and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda”, thus opined the Social Activist Chakravarthy Soolibele. He was speaking at the 150th Year Birthday Celebration of Swami Vivekananda held on November 16, 2013. Presiding over the function Swami Nirmalanandanathaji of Adhichunchanagiri Mutt said ‘Science should be understood in a religious background to analyze the facts better’. He also stressed upon a point that criticisms should be fact based and never should impulsive and irrational. Later, Dr. K Chidananda Gowda Former Vice Chancellor Kuvempu University also spoke on the occasion.
